Edited by: Zansin on 16/11/2004 11:17:26 hey all, as anyone who knows what a tempest is knows the tempest is currantly gimped as far as long range 1400mm's is concerned. So ive decided to try out close range setup i will be fighting angel's out in 0.0 and would like sum tips on how to go about fitting a tempest so that it might be able to take some damage and deal a fair bit aswell. I was thinking the following...
High- 6x 800mm cannon 2x siege cannon wit torps
Med- 1x tracking enhancer II 1x webber (for those pesky frigs) 1x Xl shield booster 1x cap booster 1x shield boost amp ( not sure about this
Low- 2x Gyrostab II 1x ballistics thing ( missle dmg/rof make good-erer ) 3x Free slots for fittings and things if some spare just fit summore gyros or cap booster os sumthing
Before you guys start dont tell me if i want close range buy a blasterthron or apoc etc. thx ;)

WTB: Tempest with 10 highslots (might actually be a good ship then ;)
Seriously; that is quite a good setup you got there, but I would tend to use a MWD to be able to get close, and armor-tank instead of shield tank.
Never think you can tank much dmg though, just enough to kill your target before he kills you...

but i think that someone said that you can keep 1xlarge and 1x medium t2 armor repairer and 3x hardeners on auto with 5x t2 cap rechargers- maybe but 1x cap relay in low and a webber in medium...
in high maybe 6x800mm and 2x siege - have a alt with a indy full of ammo with you.. Fluffy carebear (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

You want to shield tank without hardeners?
Using autocannons for rathunting may seem like a good idea until you see how fast they chew through your ammo supply
The 1400's are still quite useful against NPC imo.
If you really want to use a closerange setup I suggest you armour tank it. |

talona if you actuly red the post u might know that ammo is not an issue as i have kinda stated abouve bp's r cheap and loot recycles well.
i havnt tryed 1400mm's on anything exept the larger battleships as i couldant hit the cruisers for s**t whereas the duel 425's and 800's ive tryed 'chew' through them easy

I wrote slowly and that was added when I was busy changing my smart ass remark about a ten slot tempest.

Keep your distance and get some tracking computers and you will hit. |

as long as you have ammo available 800/dual 650 are loads better for npc than 1400's imo. The amount of time you waste plinking away with 1400's means you make much less isk per hr.
Get in there fast and close range & on to the next belt asap.
As for setup it's been a while since I used a tempest but I'd definately armour tank.
6x dual 650/800, 2x nos or launcher 100mn ab, web, 3x cap recharger 2x L rep, 2x hardner, 2x cap relay

6x 800`s, 1x seige, 1x rocket launcher(defenders)
1x mwd, 1x webber, 3x cap rechargers
1x large rep, 1x med rep, 3x hardners(exp, kin, therm), either 1600mm plate or cap power relay
this setup works ok for me, but dont try to take on too much by yourself

won two 1v1's in the 2nd day or something then got ganked coz i was stupid Mimiru > It'd be a tie, the monkies nerfed pooflinger wouldnt have enough tracking to hit the parrot orbiting him, but the parrot's beak is so small it couldnt break the monkey's fur tanking. |
