I bought a brand new highend machine just a few days ago... paying nearly twice as much for it than my brother who bought his new rig 2 months ago. For my puter I bought an Asus X800 graphics board worth 470Ç, expecting it to contain that fancy little coupon that would let you download HL2 via Steam. Well... no coupon for me. Lots of worthless junkware but no HL2 
My brother however, who bought a card worth 150Ç, is now sitting there... pointing his finger at me and laughing his ass off because he's got a coupon and can play right away, while I have to go to the damn store to buy the game 
This is so unbelievably unfair 
Anyways... glad it finally came out. Probably the best FPS singleplayer campaign out there right now (better than Doom3 at least).

That's what I did (and the game is great)  I was a bit disappointed though when I found out that my brandnew 470Ç graphicmonster didn't ship with one of those coupons and that I would have to buy the game seperately  Instead all I got for software was a pack of junkware and CS: Condition Zero which has got to be some kind of Valve accident

HL2. not really a big fan of FPS games. i do enjoy them, but i am unable to play most FPS games due to the fact that i get a splitting headache within 20 minutes of playing them. i remember playing Red Faction over at a buddies house. i played for about a half hour and then just fell sideways outta the chair after completing a level with a virtual broadaxe splitting my skill in two...

only real PC FPS games i haven't had problems with was UT2K4. hmmmmm? maybe it's because all older FPS games were on crappy machines????

yeah, it's gotta be framerate and refresh rate. combined with my stigmatism, that's probably a trick. but now that i actually think about it, i can't recall the headaches since having a normal gaming computer to play on and not a piece of crap... but, i also avoid them, so maybe that's it...

Eve has ruined my FPS-"l337"nes
Not only has the twitchingskills gone downhill but I find myself annoyed by the constant action.
Never a calm moment to relax and draw breath.
Not annoyed enough to quit playing though

For some strange reason, when I played it, my eyes would not blink, they would get so dried out and irritated, it was the weirdest thing...
The game put me in some kind of transe...

I will definitelly be getting HL2... Doom 3 was a bust, IMHO...

One reason I dislike FPS's is that they give me a headache, I personally think its the fact I can't aim for toffee and think the games are boring...or the Frame rate..not sure :P
Take comfort in knowing that its probably some pimply faced twit, or 40 year old virgin, who gleens everytime mommy offfers to take them to needle point lessons |

Installation from DVD : 10 minutes
Create a steam account : 15 minutes
Activate product.........: 4h 30 minutes
Play the game...And woot !
It's really amazing
The graphics seems excellent, even on my GeForce 4
You feel lost like in the first episode, but this time you are in a city, not in a base
NB : Do NOT kick a guard's bottom with a shoe or anything else...They don't like it
NB 2 : Steam deserves the title of "@nalware of the year"

yeah took me over an hour to activate it last night when i got home from work. Spend ú35 on a game then have to sit there and wait for ages to play the damn thing. Lame move i would say
But the game is damn good
