I have been buffer fitting my Harbingers since I could fly them. I've had this idea for awhile about triple reping one to see how it would do. Any suggestions on actively tanking a Harbinger? Here's my first try.

The heat sink is a waste of a low slot, take it off and squeeze another rep on there, after all, the more the better.

An ibis with 1 small nuet would cap you out....stick with the buffer.
Also you might want to add 775 cap to those cap boost charges, it helps out just a little.

I have already seen somthing similar done to a proph and harbinger which did pretty good in what turn out to be a cluster ****. Imo it would work fairly well in a gang since i have seen it do so. Also the whole laser range thing helps alot! Might as well drop the heat sink for more tank than gank if your gunna do that setup...

This. Myrm can actually do this well. Active armour tanks are laughable unless the ship is bonused to them.

active tanks are pretty bad, even on ships with relevant bonuses
plate or shield extend it

That's a horrible thing to do to a harb. Get a plate on that and 2 or 3 heatsinks and unless you can't find a station easily or you tend to camp gates in low sec, don't bother with fitting a rep at all. Harb's really a no brainer to fit, no need to try something as exotic (or bad).
On the other hand as it stands, you might just as well forget about harbinger all together and fly a hurricane, it has a much higher theoretical dps output and, in case of shield fit, reach as well.

OK. EFT is great for fitting but never forget the practical applications of your ship. I bring this up specifically to address the 3x MAR II setups I have been reading of late. Using 3X MAR II will exhaust your cap so quickly that instead of serving you by repping your armor you will be out of cap, unable to rep, move, shoot, or do anything except die or drift in space if your gang mates have good setups.
Keep in mind: you will rarely start a fight with 100% of your cap. You likely either: (1) just jumped in and are holding your cloak; or (2) have warped in; or (3) are sitting on a gate with all of your cap - until you have to MWD to be in range of your target. All of these scenarios dictate you will not be at 100% cap.
Plate buffer generally will afford you more protection then active tanking. If you want tot tank though, consider one Mar on a harby -
