For my part, I snagged a hardcover book, a $10 gift certificate to a book store, 100 rounds of .22 magnum ammo, and a $75 gift card to a firearms shop to get a scope for my rifle. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!" |

From my computer-illiterate significant other - A 60 day GTC for that other game which shall not be named (which I don't play and have never played). The store guy was kind enough to let me return it after I've managed to convince him I didn't even take it out of the shrink wrap.
From my family - my two favourite books I've read and evangelised about lately, but was too cheap to read them in any other form than pirated .pdfs. Information wants to be Free! --------------------------- Only those who surrender are lost |

Edited by: F''nog on 26/12/2009 06:23:09 A laptop, which I'll hopefully return for a better, slightly more expensive one - I'll give the specs later on what I finally end up with - three books: "Stones Into Schools" by Greg Mortensen, "Monday Morning Quarterback" by Peter King, and "Augustus" by the guy who wrote "Cicero", two Apocalyptica CDs, the BSG miniseries ans season 3 soundtracks, some underwear, and some stuff I'm gonna return.
Not a bad haul.
Note that for probably the fifth year in a row I failed to receive a Watchmen-related product. The first four or so years I asked for the Absolute Edition (which I ended up buying myself when the movie came out) and this time around the DVD.
Edit - oh, and no Discworld novels. Now that makes me a sad panda.

Hey! I resemble that remark!
Er...wait...
TBH, I just picked up the hobby and haven't had a chance to go out shooting with anyone more experienced, so I've been learning largely by trial and error and advice after the fact. I've discovered that I haven't been pulling the trigger straight back, so that had resulted in me torquing the rifle to the right while firing (I'm left-handed); I also had my sights adjusted way too high.
Also, * Magnus, the WoW GTC is both sad an hilarious at the same time. You've gotta give her props for trying, though. * BestofWorst, F'nog, that's some seriously nice Christmas loot. * Jordan, sorry to hear that. Murphy is obviously alive and well. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!" |

I gave my dad that.
He's bald.
Got myself some very nice clothes, good set of fine liners and a nice folder to store my graphics work in, bonused with some calligraphy pens and brushes , White Edition of Assassin's Creed II (Ezio! It's-a-me! Uncle Mario! (and a nice 'Creed II shirt too)), new headset for my PC (My previous one is held together by glorious cellotape), nice set of aftershaves, deoderants etc etc etc. Plus a nice set of books from a distant uncle by Chris Ryan, based on the SAS which are pretty awesome so far (finished the Culture series just in time.) Got some úúú too from other family.
Although I am more or less broke myself now, big family results in me being poor.

Myself I got a camera with underwater housing, which was a joint present from the whole family (underwater housings are generally more expensive than the camera, go figure ). I whole-heartedly look forward to using that this year!
Oh, and a whole dollop of various alcohols drunk on Christmas Day topped off with missing my girlfriend on Christmas , but that's Judaism for you.

I got an insta errect tent and some socks and a book.
Socks and books were great, but should I tell my folks that the tent is useless or make up a story in spring about how I used it?
Got some beer and soap too.
Best part of xmas was some dodgy pea shooters made in Korea that were layed round the table after lunch ... they effing hurt. 10 adults at a table firing paper pellets at each other venting a lifetime of hang ups was the highlight of my xmas.
Oh and celebrating the birth of the ickle baby jesus too. |

Me and wife's first xmas together and just moved in new place so she got me a shirt, pants, belt, and a beanie.
We bought the baby more stuff than anything, new cradle swing which she managed to crawl out of and stand up by ( a 4 month old should not be able to do the things she does... ) She was asleep, and we hadnt strapped her in due to not wanting to wake her up, so we just kept a watch on her. Well while she was asleep she started wiggling... I poined at her to my wife and by the time I looked back she was half way over with her feet touching the ground and her upper waist hanging on to the swing. Wife started runnin to get her and i was like WTF! She's in like the 99th percentile for height her age, really tall baby... Already noticed she was staring at her little thing that straps her in pressing on the things that unlock it apparently tryin to figure out how to free herself...
Got her things swing because the other we had was smaller and she could just push her self up, pretty much standing up sideways in the swing and lifting her legs force her self out of the swing. Omg shes a crazy baby.
Anyway that, got her a bunch of cartoons, yo gabba gabba etc. toys laugh and learn center for like 16 months but she decides she wants to stand and play with it at 4 months. Everyone see's her and laughs because it looks weird as hell see'in a 4 month old baby standing playing at a little activity center.
Me and wife bought a Wii together and a couple games, figured it would be the best console as far as family games for when the babys a bit older. And next week or so buying a new desktop and maybe taking a small trip
