I just started playing again, and was trying to find a home. I had a Mammoth and an Armegeddon, I had to dip into a .4 system to get to another .8, I got jumped by 6 ravens. They killed the indy with everything i own on board and beat up my arma real nice, however i got the arma away. Warped to a planet. I was trying to catch my breath and they warped on top of me. There were 10 asteroid belts, 10 planets no stations. Several moons. I warped randomly at 15km, 60km about 6 times everytime they warped in. EACH TIME, they warped right on top of me. I was not ganged with them. Finally after my 6th warpout my connection just dropped i was in mid warp. when i came back i was in a pod. Has something changed where you can be tracked in system now? I think the probability is extrememly low that these guys would warp right on me every time (Close enough to try and warp jam) In a .4 system and pick not only the planet correctly but the warp in distance too? What am i missing here? they were obviously in formation.

addendum: there was no delay in warp periods it was literally i came out of warp so did they a second or too later. 6 times in a row. they had no time to "search" they knew exactly where i was everytime.

Yea, its pretty easy to track someone going to system objects. Just look at the trail and double click on the object they headed towards. Works a lot of the time and possible to do in a couple of seconds (hence the short delay).

If it is a 0.4-0.0 system you should warp to a station after being attacked, if they follow you there and try to come close they will be attacked by sentry guns. Question is if you can return fire there, I'm not sure of that and i't's important to find that out before you use a battleship.

Next time warp to moons around planets far away rather than just planets or moons close by.

Yea there were no stations couldnt go there i was at a gate sentry guns didnt make a difference they ignored them. I tried to pick moons and planets at one point i made 3 consecutive jumps after another but they were still right on me. I guess i learned a real good lesson. Sometimes i wish there was a way to temporarily shut off PvP. I came back to eve because i thought the new patch was going to be cool and i still had a battleship from eons ago. I don't have anything but a shuttle now and since my insurance had expired because i just came back and didnt have time to get enough cash for it. My luck must have ran out. thats part of the game, im just going to have to be real cautious in .4 systems from now on. That was my biggest mistake thinking i was relatively safe. also i guess the gate guns are worthless

yes ive followed warp-trails to follow a target, the best thing you could hvae done is to place a bookmark in one of your warp tunnels, then when you drop out of warp, warp back to this point and they wont be able to find you for a while.

Use the f11 menu and have you're next destination ready to go as soon as you begin to slow down. Hop across the solar system a few times rather than to bodies around a single planet. Eventually you'll catch a breather for a few minutes at least when you stop mid-jump. Enough time to log out and start playing with your scouting/bm laying alt. The cheapness of that tactic is such an unparallelled joy to me. I plan to exploit it and other logoff exploits interminably until it is officially declared an exploit and summarilly eliminated.
And for tracking someone using the same tactics, each member of the gang following a warp trail should have a prearranged rubric of what orbiting object(s) each of them should scout.

yeah - I think its just the 0.0 named empire systems that fire.
Think Egbringer - some guy almost wet himself laughing when I fired on his Osprey in one of my rifters on the B-VIP gate.
Ah well... the insurance was almost out. As I said to him in local - I impress myself some times

I use the f11 map, look for a planet with lots of moons, warp to a moon, then immediatly warp to another planet and moon taking a bm mid-warp then warp back to that. It gives you enough of a gap to recharge and consider your next move.
Just warping to planets, you will be easy to track as people have stated.

Dont forget about the power of the mighty right click in space :)
If I am heading towards say a planet that I want to "double click on" ie travel too because my ship has full speed heading towards the object just make a note of what planet that is.. ie planet 3 whatever or if your sitting still pick any planet you want..
Right click in dead space, then choose planets, then choose moons, then pick a moon and warp to it.
That way it looks like your warping to the planet, your attackers double click on the planet and you have already arrived at the moon where you can warp to another planets moon directly, or as your traveling there drop a book mark in space and then warp to the book mark that was created mid warp.. and that is how you properly run away

Sorry ender ,I consider self destructing to deny the loot to enemy as lame :(
As for this story imho if you picked up a mooon from the list you would have been pretty safe , i have done it many times.Just warping to objects that are visible from space is mistake they are sure to follow you.( i mean objects that you can double click from your position.)

Does anyone know how that can be done?

most likely perception, you all 'appear' to come out of warp at the same time until the very last second as you see people shoot in front of you but then fall back.
also I would guess that his pulse was a little high at the time and maybe he saw wrong. That or they have purchased the m0o supersafespotbusterV2003.

Edited by: Dred 'Morte on 18/11/2004 19:56:42 Edited by: Dred 'Morte on 18/11/2004 19:53:35 its an exploit, its very easy to see which planet someone is going to, and if it is an interceptor, you get there only a few seconds after he does, but when the pilot warps again again and again to moons, its impossible. last time i had someone chasing me like this i was forced to shut down my comp in midel warp, 15 minutes l8r i came back praying i was not in an egg. it worked...
ps: i think moo has the uberleet supersafespotbuster2004 vs2.1

you jocking? its no exploit its some skills. Easy enough to avoid it , jump to a moon from the list in system to amoon wich is notvisible to doublwe click, they got no chance to track you,.
Stars, stars like dust, all around me.... |
