Full respect to all who turned out to last nights big fight. It was a an ad-hoc affair that snowballed into an epic carve-up as more and more ships were exploded and melted and both sides desperately threw more assets into the batlle cauldron in an effort to maintain a toe hold on the massive loot stuffed debris field.
In the end we managed to immolate well over a billion isk in shiny ships and modules in a frenetic thirty minute gank fest. Top work by Red FCs Siege10 and Hanna Deltr and new blue FC Jahred Shaw.
I spoke a couple of people in RVB channel who said this battle was their first experience of PVP and they were now hooked. Probably time to get the frigs out for a few days until everyone recovers but lets not forget that we can bring this sort of fight if both sides are game.

Damn sorry I missed that one. Got into the fight at 21.30 but was still feeling rough after the new year so decided to quit when my rifter went boom.
People shouldnt think you need to fly expensive ships or have alot of SP to take part. I've happily been flying rifters and only have 1.5 million sp on this character.

Isn't that big of you
The point of this is obviously to advertise to new players that they can have access to PvP in empire straight away.

You want PVP to remain exclusive? All those idiots who post PVP can't be done by noobs in noob ships are wrong and RvB proves that every day.
And while you're at it look up the word supercilious.

I'm genuinely sorry if I've offended anyone by posting this thread in here. When I was a new player I spent most of my time in this section as it was generally easier to understand and more noob friendly. Warfare and Tactics mostly seemed to cover discussion of big lo-sec and 0.0 battle and was, for the most part, both our of reach to me in terms of skill and understanding.
My intention in putting this report into New Citizens was to demonstrate to any new players that exciting small and large scale PVP is available to them in Empire space should they be interested. I'm not a recruiter and this is not a recruitment thread, I'm just reporting on something that I was involved in that I found rewarding and exciting and pointing out to new player that you don't need to be part of some massive 0.0 war alliance to get into this sort of action.

Its obvious to anyone without their head up their ass why it's in the new player section.
If you did not like the post or disagreed with it just report it and it will be moved if those who are in charge of this forum want it to be. Being an officious git just makes you look like a pompous and joyless moaner.

I regret my previous post but it still think the hostile reaction was uncalled for. My opposition to the post is valid. I love R&B and if it was possible for me timewise I would be in it right now.

Sure its valid, nearly all posts can be challenged actually, it's easy to do which is why I'm always suspicious of the motives behind why some get annoyed with a happy, innocuous post that encourages NEW players to PVP. In fact all corps that do this (EVE University et al) should be allowed to post here in my opinion as it would sort a lot of the issues new players often post about. And one of the most common is 'I stopped playing as I can't PVP..its too hard...too expensive...too skill dependent..no one lets me join in...etc..etc ' which is endemic on other game boards and a major reason why so many never even try this game as they listen to crap like that.

One would think, that to advertise a corporation to new players, one would:
Host battles in starter systems and explain what was going on as they fought. Use the in-game recruitment channel. Use the corporation and alliance recruitment center on these forums.
There is no mention in the original post of what RvB is, nor how new players may seek out representatives of both corporations. While your battle was indeed interesting, it doesn't appear to be a very well-formed post about who you are and what you do, that would benefit new players here.

Maybe if those that chose to post for RvB would post in the correct forum, like every other member of the community has to, then their threads wouldn't have to be reported every time. Just because RvB is new player friendly doesn't mean that every topic that they choose to post has to go in New Citizen's Q&A. This is in no way a Q&A thread that should belong in CAOD. There are hundreds if not thousands of corps that are new player friendly yet they aren't allowed to promote their corp/alliance and discuss their battles in NCQ&A. ------------------------------------

First off I have not played for months so I'm nothing to do with the opinion of RvB or the Op.
If anyone thinks the post should be reported then report it and that's that. There is no need to belittle (size of battle) and treat others like little children 'I won't report this time' Doing that tells me their motives are nothing to do with 'posting in the right place' at all or they would simply report which is their right.
As to being about new players it does mention that and the Op's subject line is 'PVP noobs...'
People are entitled to their opinion and certainly entitled to think the post is in the wrong section, but how they give that opinion can lead to responses they may not be expecting.

Louis, I fail to see why people get upset by your post.
1. Everyone who has been a bit in eve knows that battles in 0.0 can be much larger and involve much more ISK then anywhere else. 2. Battle reports don't belong in a channel that is meant for new players to ask questions and get answered by whoever feels comfortable to answer them.
"Not reported this time." ... what is so offensive about that ? Letting another player know that you could have asked a forum moderator to have a look at this post and move it to a more appropriate channel is perfectly fine imo.
Also the general tone of the post seems rather friendly to me. Does anyone disagree with that ?

Correctamundo, if these things were included it would be a recruitment post and would then have been posted in the recruitment section. As I pointed out, I'm not a recruiter and it's not a recruitment post. It's just a little story about the exciting things that happen in RVB and, as RVB is mostly aimed at new players or players new to PVP, I thought the people reading this section might find it interesting. No biggie If new players then want to seek out RVB then there are plenty of ways to do that. I would list them but I wouldn't want to cause one of you pen pushers to have another heart attack.

Can you show me other battles in hisec that involve billions of ISK in lost T1 frigates and cruisers? I'm not interested in officer-fit marauders getting ganked, since new players are unlikely to be able to fly marauders.

New Citizens Q&A seems like a great spot to answer the question, "how do I get into real PvP", doesn't it?

Sounds like Red vs. Blue had a terrific evening. I was pleased to read how some pilots had their first taste of PvP - and got hooked
It is initiatives like this one (RvB) that will keep players coming back for more.

RVB is excellent.
Good to see it is still going strong. The PVP engagements I during my time there were some of the best I have had and there are some really good PVP pilots kicking around doing it or have done it.
Anyone who criticises it is pretty stupid.

Also, (my 2 cents worth here) as this got moved, I would venture to say that over 90% of the trash on the CAOD section should be also.

Michael thanks for the post, I am glad you enjoyed the fight! Much respect too all involved.
I must admit RvB has been an excellent experience for me, as it has made Pvp combat and Fcing accessible given the huge number of fights we get into.
I've moved from a Fac War small gang vet for the Caldari, flying with the 22nd to an active Fc with RvB and am finally getting a handle on the Eve Pvp game.
RvB Is attracting quality skilled pilots who just want to jump in and fight! Thinking Rvb is a noobfest is inaccurate, and potentially insulting to the situation.
Our Big fight occurred as both side's competitive nature kicked in and we shipped up a few times...then went for it.
I loved the fight and both sides : ACTUALLY USED SHIPS FOR PVP, instead of spinning them, or running or blobbing or hording them for months....or or....
Imagine that??
High sec pvp that actually happens...
