First off you should always expect everyone who isn't blue to want to shove a lead pipe up your rectum.
2cd most serious pvp corps are NBSI. Why anti-pirates tend to fail is a discusion in itself but it mostly boils down to game mechanics favoring a NBSI approach. Only shooting reds or people who agreseed you first means you have a good chance to lose fights and that you won't get many. Lose fights because the enemy will get to choose when and where. Not get many because even if you red everyone who ever shoots you you will run up against the truly massive numbers of people who play EvE. Most of them will be nuetral. If you want to be a general pvper you're probably going to have to get used to the idea of NBSI.
If you want to be a carebear it ends up being fairly simular. Either you don't fight anyone because as a carebear you beleive your chances of winning are nil, or you go NBSI and kill people who encroach on your territory before they get the chance to deffecate on it.
The only people around in 0.0 who have made NRDS work well are CVA and there pets. If you really like the idea of NRDS go joion one of them. Although I have to warn you, our spies report CVA pets are terribad. CVA itself has alot of top notch players but it is unlikely that they will let you in.

NRDS makes sense only if you're interested in industrialism/commerce more than PvP.
Of course many (most?) NBSI alliances ruin the concept by joining the big blue NAP-train, thus limiting combat but protecting their precious moon-goo.
So in actual practice, you get almost as much PvP under either system, but more commerce under NRDS.

Great people matters little if you want PvP and you're not allowed to shoot anyone you can find within 25 jumps of you.
Since the people of the corp are generally a mystery until you join, judging by PvP policy has its merit.
Of course, the people are going to largely be the reason you stay or leave.

If you want PVP you can just go PVP, its that simple. If youre looking for a good corp to join you should have no other criteria than "good people".

Are you suggesting that solo PvP is on anything even resembling an equal footing with corp PvP operations?

I kinda liked old GW. You eventually got shot at - as can one expect from those barbarian minmatars - but you were not gate camped, station camped or hunted down by a fleet of people. Just some friendly nudges to not go asleep and maybe a few shots if you were not showing proper respect as a guest - the local ship builders have to make a living too after all.
The CVA way may not be possible for everyone but keeping your fleets for worthy targets should not be that hard.
My mains Corp moved to Great Wildlands recently. The locals are working on enforcing an NRDS policy. From what Ive seen most people are blued/napped with each other and the intel channel is pretty active. PVP supports fleets are active enough and help arrives fast if its already mobilised.
There are groups of 10-20 reds that come in but the intel channel tracks them very well so if you get caught out its prob your own fault. All in all it seems a decent place for NRDS style players so far. |

I personally think both have their merits.
NRDS is a harder system to implement, but it can make 0.0 fun for many parties.
NBSI is much easier, but it is not a very friendly approach to Eve. However, Eve is not really a friendly game in most circumstances so that point is somewhat mute. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song.
