So after a week and a half of doing this I have decided its in the best interest of my main to alert everyone to this easy and simple way to make billions in a week. It takes a bit of luck and a week of training tops.
What you wanna do is sit outside jita in a hauler have your overview set to Industrials wrecks and cans, After 10 minutes you should be able to tell whos the suicide gankers they sit generally right below where ships exit and scan ships, Once you locate them find there hauler that picks up after they gank (Generally in the same corp as them) They will never gank a ship thats more then 3km from there hauler. Once you find that position yourself in a good position so where you can get everything thats in there range. Usually they are either above or below the line of ships, so if they are below you sit above at 2500 range of them, or vice versa.
It takes time hours sometimes and you will miss wrecks but eventually you will get a wreck and make hundreds of millions of ISK. Dont forget PVP ships, if no suicide gankers are out then you can wait and watch for nice fights, Follow what ever ship you think is going to lose and if he pops steal the loot. Obviously DOCK immediately after you steal anything.
My first day doing this I sat outside jita 4-4 for 6 hours while watching a movie on TV every time i heard shots I glanced at the screen, I made 800 Million off a Faction fit Battleship, and 200 million off a hauler. After that I was hooked.
Tips of the trade... Be able to hold at least 10000m3 Preferably more but out of all the haulers ive snagged it was able to fit in my hold (10000m3) Except for once where it was a hauling contract case that took 26000m3 (Even the suicide gankers couldn't take it lol)
What you should fit, Max cargo expander Afterburner and I put the rigs that allow to turn faster because as I noticed that is what cuts into you getting to the wreck first is who is aligning to it (if its more then 5km away you dont have a chance in hell)
After a few days you will learn where you want to sit and what pvp ships to follow, but its very profitable. Boring yes but profitable, After a week and a half I made 3 billion doing this. Being a trader on my main ive used this to invest in the market which now makes me enough ISK that sitting outside jita 4-4 for 4 hours + a day is too damn boring.
My reasons for doing this are simple... My main is a trader and hauler, the easiest time to kill a industrial (The ones I fly) is undocking from the station, so if there are 10 people sitting outside the station to grab the loot the suicide gankers only have a 1/10 chance to even get what they gank meaning less gankers at the station, safer for me potentially saving me billions.
Last tip.. DO NOT do this on your main.. they can tell who you are and wont like you stealing billions from them its a quick way to get yourself war decced... Make a alt in 2 days you can start after a week you can be fully ready to do it.
I assume you can do this at gate camps as well, Sivala is the most ganked system between Jita and Gallente space so thats your best bet for all that.
oh and your ship will get killed! Eventually some gung-ho suicide ganker will just target you and blow you up only to realize you had nothing, or it may be retaliation for stealing a wreck of his. Generally i fit my haulers for 1-1.5 million

It's admittedly satisfying to profit off other people's work. Nice write up by the way
It's also worked the other way before where the loot from a freighter gank I was involved with was scooped by a neutral freighter before we could get to it... considering how badly the gank had gone in the first place, not even getting the (300m) of dropped minerals was the icing on the cake
Of course some gankers will get buttehuert over the loss so I guess using an alt makes for an easy life, especially considering how little sp investment it requires. ~

For those PvPers out there, I can confirm this is a great way of getting a free wardec by people that don't really know how to PvP (with a few exceptions).

Edited by: Ran Khanon on 04/01/2010 07:49:02 I tried this once in my first month when I spotted a few warring ships at Amarr Prime. Flew right up to the BS that was loosing, opened the wreck first when it exploded, spotted al kinds of tech II and other shiny stuff, quickly selected all, dragged it to cargo and docked within 2 seconds. But a pop up saying that I couldn't fit it all in my hold showed up ... I ended up having a couple of cap booster 800's in my bay and I cursed myself for an hour. How's that on the scale of failitude? Hehe. I was more lucky later though, though I never really waited for it. Please re-size your signature to the maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

to op:
if you have an alt account, have it in a shuttle or something fast with some random crap in cargohold.
as soon as gankers finish their business, flip the haul asap, then use your indy to tractor beam it.
i did this once with a tractor beam ibis. the gankers' hauler couldnt keep up and my indy alt had a warp in on 0.

LOL thats awesome, I can just see the loot-hungry hauler putting after it as it zooms away being towed off by an Ibis. ___________________________________ The views expressed by me in my forum posts are in no relation to my Corporation or my Alliance. I swear my cat made me type them.

For me it wasnt about getting kills, it was needing start up isk to trade with on my main (Which I got) Now im simply... protecting my investment. Also I disagree that professional gankers wont fall for this, simple fact is the gank area is only about 3 haulers (Pick up range) long so 3 well placed haulers and everyone has the chance to get it, if there are more haulers they overlap and if there are a lot of haulers the only option for the suicide ganker is to kill every "Vulture" just before they gank the actual ship.
Some more tips...
Watch the pick up hauler, if it starts to move in a direction its probably getting in position to grab something so shadow it (From the 2500 range) Also I forgot to mention Sentry drones, most of the gankers seem to have sentry drones deployed they will also likely scan you at least once usually more.
Keep extra ships ready and fitted in station, one trick a suicide ganker tried to pull was having a buddy kill me and then he tried to take out the hauler at the same time. So you want to be ready to get back out there ASAP.
hmm trying to think of any other tips to give you future "Vultures" erm.. smack talk in local! I never did it but I can imagine the lulz... I only got 1 not so happy message before over one of my steals which I enjoyed reading, for me im against suicide ganking when it happens to me and for it when it happens to others. The way I see kills my potential competitions stuff so if you can get them at the gates more power to you!
I highly recommend this for a beginner to make a quick bit of start up ISK like I did. and I agree its a nice feeling to make 500 million ISK of someone elses money while watching a movie on TV... |

no tears here. I have never been ganked nor lost any gank. It's the op that started this thread. In an attempt to dray more vultures and make it less profitable for bombers? Because they were ganked? btw, I use a freighter alt to transport all my goodies.

One of my favorite activities is to fit up a nanophoon in Amarr, and wait until you see lone battleship playing station games with a large group of hostiles. Just bump them out of dock range and scoop the loot when they pop. The guys who pop the target will prob even thank you for getting them a kill. You can also get people killed who undock in a slow ship that have the faction police after them. They wont get warp scrammed by the cops, but they can still die if you keep them bumped long enough and get them far enough below the station that they cant dock back up.

Confirming that I have a few friends whom will be doing this during the upcoming Hulkageddon. One guy is planning on leaving his alt nearby to can flip (great idea!) and then call in his while secondary char on his main will be piloting an Orca to haul in the loots.
Maybe they should create a prize in Hulkageddon for most stolen loots.
I may be on hand to salvage all those wonderous wrecks to whit he can scoop them up. So please, a few mass SB ganks folks. Making my ISK off of your work would be even better.

Actually its very smart, at least from an evolution point of view.
They get rewards for expending a fraction of the energy of the dominant predators.
