Hi all,
I am currently trying to boost my factions standings (want/need a hi-sec POS). To this end I thought I would try the data centres and COSMOS agents as a solution.
My problem arises with finding these tags. I see that they occasionally drop from mission rats, however the description of the mission from the data centre agents suggests that belt rats have a higher drop rate of these tags. Is this true? how should I go about farming these tags?
P.s I realise that I could buy these from the market however I would prefer to collect them myself for reasons of accomplishment.

Son, that ain't happening.
Just buy them, it's really the only way to get enough tags for data centers.

I take it then your not convinced that there is a different drop rate between belt and mission rats?

The drop rate IS higher in belt rats, but not high enough to make it worth your while.

been mission running for 3 years now and still nowhere near enough tags to do those agents.

you could farm the lesser ones from belt rats and some of those beacons in space,but it would take you an eternity.
...not even speaking about the diamond|crystal|gold|silver ones...
But I did had enough and spares to do them all after 2yrs worth of lvl3-4s :P

The lower level tags were common drop from belt rats in 2006 when I started (so common that they were usually melted for recycling), then in mid 2006 CCP changed the drop rate drastically and forgot to change the the datacenter missions.
