Is it really worth it to salvage and loot the wrecks or just keep going and try to kill the rats as fast as you can for the bounties?

If you just rat then selective looting is sort of reasonable. Assuming you are in range and dont need to travel long for that loot. If you mean anomalies then just loot the faction spawns, as rest of the rats are as crap as regular Lev 4 missions. However if you happen to have few low SP pilots in corporation they are more useful looting and salvaging than in some relatively ineffective combat ship. When we talk about higher end anomalies ofc, first 3 tiers are relatively worthless both bounties and loot wise.

Depends on how easy it is to get the loot to a place to sell/melt. Also depends whether the salvage from the local rats is decent or not.

This was faction spawn. Regular ones do not drop those. And ofc it's very reasonable to loot faction spawns.

a wreck is a wreck is a wreck. And normal spawns can drop tech 4 items wich can be worth many millions e.g. 'Arbalest' heavy missile launcher etc.

Just because a wreck can have meta 4 items in them doesn't mean you can make money faster than skipping crappy wrecks and focus on collecting bounties faster.

I dont know what you do .... but Im looting during battle. So no time loss for me. Fight one down -> During fighting the second one, loot the first one. Even with my little cargohold in my manticore i got round about 20 Million extra only Looting the tech 4 items with no time loss.

I've found a happy middle ground. I salvage the wrecks within range while fighting the remaining npcs. Once the last one dies I leave any remaining wrecks and head to the next asteroid. When I return to the asteroid while targeting and attacking the first ship I start salvaging any wrecks near me. The only time I spend not killing a ship for it's bounty is flying back to a station to drop off the loot but the station is in the same system so I think it's worth it.

It's worth doing if you have a POS nearby. Otherwise, it's up to you, although I'd advise checking/salvaging anything bigger than a small wreck. --

Sometimes we get 1 person with a bunch of tractor beams to gather all the ships and someone else with a bunch of salvagers salvages everything and then we move on to the next :)

I looted behind a couple of ratters from my corp. All I did was loot/salvage; no bounties, nothing else. After doing that for about 2 hrs or so each day for 3 or 4 days, I moved out approx 200 million in loot for reprocessing and sale as minerals; another 100 million or so in named items; and another 100 million or so in salvage. 400 millon for approx 6-8 hrs work? Its worth it. But that all assumes you have a way to get the goods back to hisec. |
