The burning question then has to be:
Do CCP even bother to look for themselves, or are they entirly dependent on the community reports?
understand that your busy n that, but Tranqulity IS your product so rather than just sitting pretty behind your dev computer on tests servers and programing applications maybe you should log on to tranquility and TAKE A LOOK FOR YOURSELFS!

You might take a moment to discover how many accounts have been banned for bot use before you embarrass yourself further.

Originally by: Nawt Ovarpwiced The impression i from playing open beta on the Chinese aion server's was that botting was widely accepted in china. This does not at all mean that everyone over there accepts it/likes it/thinks it is fair. I was meaning that its far far more common, and alot less is done about the bots over there (which again pushes me to believe its more widly accepted as "normal" to do in china)
I played Open Beta Aion here in the U.S., everyone whined about Game Guard being too intrusive so they removed it here. They use it in Asia pretty heavily to stop botters/macroers. So to say they condone botting is laughable. I aso played iRO (international Ragnarok Online) another Korean game. They are more strict than we are about that stuff, Gravity didn't approve of dual clients for many years.

I play NavyField (not an MMORPG, but it is an MMO), which is made by a Korean company. As far as I can tell there is no big problem there with bots or what not. At least not anymore than with any other MMO game out there.

Mr Epeen
^^^Trollfail^^^ Let me know when you do 23/7 for over a week with no outside help. Maybe then I'll consider you as an ISK farmer. ISK farmers farm ISK for the purpose of selling it in the real world, also known as RMT.
Real players can play for maybe three or four days of 23/7 before they collapse.
There are well-known "flags" to look for when searching for ISK farmers and macro-miners or macro-mission runners. Many can be implemented in a simple database search that could be run with a click of a button to give a list of the most likely ISK farmers/macroers in the game.
It has not been made public by CCP if such a search is used. They would probably be wise not to let that be known.
Let's name some systems and some obvious clues: Any ice field, any 'roid belt, any system where a level 4 mission can run. Ingunn, Osmon, Kakakela, Motsu, Oichiya, Tolle, etc... Player keyboard mash names and "serial names" such as asdfg, asdfg1, asdfg2, asdfg (ad nauseum), zxcvg, zxcgv, zxcgh, zxchg; dictionary-pair names such as burn butterfly, lost the; misspelling dictionary names such as sadd teh, teh pwn, etc... Not that someone didn't intentionally misspell a name, but when you see 10 mackinaws with 2 ice mining lasers, one ice mining upgrade and a civilian shield booster, all sporting birthdays just minutes apart, all sitting pointing their noses at the same bookmarked can or 'roid, and running, well, almost 23/7, mining, docking, undocking and mining with the accuracy and repetitiveness of the atomic clock, well then that's a pretty good clue that a macro is in use. Mission runners do the same, blitzing missions for the bounties, running mission after mission. Farmer fleet of choice for missions: two ravens, an abaddon, a dominix and a hurricane are dead giveaways. Why don't you have a corp mate cover the time you're AFK so both of you can observe a suspected farmer. Day after day for a week, a month. Two months. Watch them run mission after mission non-stop, docking only long enough to cash one in and get another, from uptime to downtime. Notice the 23 day old players with 5.01+ sec status from doing missions in 0.8-1.0 hi-sec. Oh, don't forget that they're flying faction-fit ravens and CNRs valued at 1.2 billion or more.
Bottom line: I've been playing almost four years. The patterns are easy to spot. IMO CCP drags their collective butt. Maybe it's the canned response that has soured me. I'd think CCP uses a bot to send out the canned response as I never see the GM that sends the response online when it's sent. Once in a blue moon they publish the "6200 players banned" message. Then server usage drops when the farmers disappear with the numbers increasing as they simply create new accounts. The drain on the servers is noticable. Motsu, Jita and other hubs have been overloaded and overrun. Agents moved. Real hardware added at to CCP's servers for real $$$.
The farmers, while some say "ooh they make items cheaper in game (ore, faction and complex items from farming"), do a disservice to the gaming community by not contributing interaction in game on which the game is supposed to be based. By adding lag to the level 4 Agent areas, which are usually right near the market hubs. By pushing servers to their client limits. Oichiya and Mostu's limit used to be around 99 players before agents moved and the hubs reinforced at the expense of real $$$. 2006-2007: 10K players. 2007-2008: 15K players. 2008-2009: 40K players. ISK farming becomes popular with ISK spammers making local chat impossible. 2009-2010: 56K players online, 6200 banned, ice mining and mission macroers still going... And a new "Report ISK Spammer" button. w00t!

CCP is working on it, it just takes months and months to collect the data so they can make a big show of how good and hard they working on it. But I suspect if any group, be it a players bot gang or whomever isn't selling that isk RMT then they don't care or look the other way.
Absolutely they could use tools like usage statistics etc to red flag likely bots and investigate but they don't seem to do this until they feel the time is right, like after they sell the isk, or hack someone's account etc.
For me I've given up on reporting this crap, I see the same macro pilots running around 23/7 mining I guess they don't sell their isk so they get to keep it.

Actually some people really do play that much. I used to do it when I was unemployed, playing for 18 hours a day 7 days a week and Im sure as he'll not a Chinese isk farmer.
Also why is it that people always blame the Chinese, how racist are you all? I used to know a group of 70 or more isk farmers and they were actually all from Albania.

Actually, asdfgqwert1 was an alt I created to HUNT bots - camoflage.
Sadly, every war dec he's done against obvious bot corps has been skipped out on - and no way he can suicide gank them in LowSec.
I and my fiancee have also largely given up on petitioning obvious botters, as in our experience CCP has NEVER removed anyone for botting, we keep seeing the SAME botters running the same bots months after we petitioned them, pretty much 100% of the ones we've petitioned. I have only one gripe with filing petitions on the farmers...
It always leaves an empty, sad space in my heart when my favorite group of probing-result-farmers suddenly stop appearing, leaving me having to probe out real players to ninja loot and salvage from, when a petition's investigation finally concludes and they are removed from the game.

Originally by: Joe Skellington everyone whined about Game Guard being too intrusive
And rightly so. All too many people need to completely disable all online security measures, firewall, antivirus, UAC pretty much everything that can prevent security exploits. I can't even run the blasted game at all because Game Guard keeps trying to claim Photoshop is a bot and since I use that a lot more than I use any game Aion is the app that got the boot. My housemate's version works fine but required serious tweeking of our modem's firewall settings before it would allow a connection.
Originally by: Joe Skellington so they removed it here.
They over reacted with the complete removal. All they needed to do was tone it back a bit.
Originally by: Joe Skellington They use it in Asia pretty heavily to stop botters/macroers. So to say they condone botting is laughable.
It is precisely because hacking and botting are so much the norm, they are so ingrained into the gaming culture, that IRO and AION and other games from that region have to resort to the overly intrusive heavy duty anti cheat software that is Game Guard.
The game developers may not condone botting but the community certainly does.
