Serenity is the Chinese Servers (yes, there are 2 eve servers, Serenity is locked off to Chinese players only, unless you use a proxy etc to circumvent it)
It would be like this because of china's strict internet **** rules.
Aja, you're forgetting its part of their culture over there to Bot. Its totally acceptable, part of everyday gaming for them if you're a MMO player. Over here it is not.
With that asside, i agree, nuke the crap out of the macrominers/isk farmers here. But dont compare it to Serenety because of what i stated above.

what i think he meant was...
it is an acceptable way of playing to share accounts to get more in game cash and items to sell to others who do not have the time nore the skill to get it them selves..
problem is it does nto wash with us over here. as time goes by plex and gtc's will rise... and LP store tiems will plummet... more poeple will ***** about having hacked accounts. ( they should be banned )

A quick note, the majority of Chinese players do NOT think it is acceptable to use bots and it's mainly down to it being that because there are so many Chinese people that it SEEMS like there are a lot of them doing it. Now I do admit that some Chinese/Japanese/Korean players may take games a bit more seriously then the rest of the world by playing obscene amount of hours doing the same thing over and over grinding like hell but I assure you most of them are not botting and just sit there playing silently or talking to others on QQ (chinese msn menssenger type of thing) How do I know this? I've had many of conversations with friends/family who are Chinese and when asked about if they use bots or macros to play games, the answer 90% of the time is that they don't do it.
Now I obviously don't condone isk trading for RL money and hacking other peoples account but hell it not fair for the majority of Chinese players to be labeled as the botters and isk sellers.

The impression i from playing open beta on the Chinese aion server's was that botting was widely accepted in china. This does not at all mean that everyone over there accepts it/likes it/thinks it is fair. I was meaning that its far far more common, and alot less is done about the bots over there (which again pushes me to believe its more widly accepted as "normal" to do in china)

Lets be fair its not just the Chinese/Japanese/Korean's that use bots, just as many 'westeners' (Russians/Romanians/Americans/English/French etc) use bots as, but its easy to critise the chinese.
Isk/Gold Farming, in China was mainly done when it had a value as it could be used as a real currency, so it made sense to use bots were, to increase ISK/Gold income, in order to survive.
If i read the news correctly China cracked down on this practice in the 2009, not sure if its been relaxed again.

For the record, I knew a Scotsman who did a serious study on how much money he could make playing WoW. He was well and truly up for providing RMT services for people who wanted to pay him, but the money just wasn't enough.
China stands out because of the coincidence of technology and cheap labor, same as all those other products which say Made In China.
Plus, of course, there are four times as many Chinese as there are Americans.

When you come across alleged ISK farmers, please be sure to file a petition with all the relevant information so we can research and determine if they are indeed violating the EULA.

We don't even need to petition them. Just look at the 10 man corps that have one month old players with ravens in 0.0 and they cloak when someone enters system and are online for more than 18 hours a day. Now ban them!!!

I've sadly misplaced my magic "find farmers in ravens" button. So yes, petitions reporting these people to us are quite vital.

thank for your reply Mr Fallout.
only violation I KNOW they are doing is sharing accounts. NO ONE is online that many hours of the day... all year .
so you want me to petition all 50+ isk farmers in palas? ( i suspect there is abotu 60-60 in palas alone ) thes are fromthe same isk farmer group i would say. groups of 5, 2x ravens, abaddon and a domi + hurricane salvaging.
I will ptetion them in about 36 hours and hope they aint jumped corp within the next 8+ hours to avoit the war dec.

You know, funny thing is that I petitioned twice about groups with exactly this composition of ships back before Apocrypha came out and before they became a super huge problem in hisec.
"If they are missioning and salvaging they are clearly within the rules of the game" or something like that, even though they never responded to local, never responded to convos or me being in their mission ninjaing their stuff; I looted one of their faction BS spawns in a Blockade mish once, which most players would be livid about..
Neither GM believed me and they both closed the petition
I can even get the dates for when I made those petitions, lol.

I never talk in local, I ignore convo's from people I don't know, and if anyone ever came into my missions, I'd ignore them there too since most people doing that are only doing it to get a rise out of you. By your logic, I'm an isk farmer.

I found I was falling behind the curve so went down to my local school, scoped it out and kidnapped a Chinese-looking student who I took home and locked in my basement and forced him to farm isk for 17 hours a day.
I had to pull the keyboard out of his PC as he was learning enough english from jita chat to make crude calls for help but thankfully people suspected it to be a scam.
It's not too bad, he has a good life, he has got used to the heavy duty chain and for each billion isk he gets a special treat of a piece of fruit, don't want his teeth to fall out, apparently man can't live on bread and water alone.

You do realise that none of those things prove anything, but that those players like their peace. In all likelyhood I would respond the exact same way.
FYI as long as there is someone playing the account, and there's no proven link to RMT activities, why would CCP ban that account? Cause they don't talk to you??? Cause they play too much???

Ok so just ban them for playing 18 hours a day! are you serious. Look lets look at this from a real world point of view, you all keep going on about this game is a sandbox yada yada when it suits you, but its also a sandbox to others too, so if people genuinely want to farm isk then so what thats thier perogative.
Now I agree if they are macroing then its a problem, but thats when you have to petition and CCP can check logs to see if they are macroing, I did it I had 4 farmers in my system and i knew they were macroing (also you can just assume they are chinese WTF) anyway i petitioned them and a few weeks later they had gone, howveer some others have come back with diff names who could be the same people. But to be honest its also up to you guys to try kill them also, after all they are just another player, expecially iof they are NOT macroing. But they if they are geniune then its wrong to kill them (if they are high sec that is) low and 0.0 free game, swings and roundabouts i guess.
remember as so mnany ppl state this is a sandbox game people can do what they want, but you have to prove they are selling for ISK first if you feel they are breaking the actual EULA |

What about pro-actively monitoring well known farmer hotspots like Jovainnon an Ingunn?
You know the places where your awesomely intelligent game design team clustered L4Q20 courier agent for easier farming. -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |

I am an ISK farmer.
I have spent many a day grinding ISK for 10 hours or more.
I was under the impression that acquiring wealth was a valid strategy for advancement in this game. Am I wrong?

Because they were on from DT to DT, had two-month-old characters flying CNRs, and all had names like asdfgkjgiygfliu? or nonsensical names composed of two entirely random english words? Because they behaved exactly like bots?

Not all people who are botting and hacking accounts come from China. Korean Players are also responsible for a fairly large amount of these incidents and yes, I think it is part of their gaming culture:
If you are not botting or using various hacks to get an advantage, then it only shows that you are too stupid to cheat yourself.
Bottom line is, don't play on servers with lots of people from these countries and never ever play games from a MMORPG developer from that part of the world. NC Failsoft is certainly among those to avoid.
