Egneneering -> all fitting skills to 5 all cap skills to 5 capital shield 4 shield compensation (not the compensations) to at leats 4 ( 5 pref )
Those skills are needed to be able to fit and to have enough cap in a dread. If your cap does not properly reload you will keep your fleet waiting for you and maybe kill them in process. Not fitting a dread with a capital shield booster makes you way too vulnerable on field. some people likes to scan theri targets before giving primaries. Any weakness in fitting will probably be found and exploited. So your dread needs to be on par with the others not to be an obvious target.
Electronics all fitting sills to 5 (it's an absolute must )( yes when flying a phoenix you are kind of short on cpu even with max skills an implant is sometimes needed depending on fitting ) signature analysis 5 ( again a must -> in siege you will have VERY low scan resolution) so when shooting non-pos targets ( including modules ) w/o being capabile to lock target in time might mean you will be just to look. ( you cannot belive how fast 15 dreads in siege will melt a thanatos ) long range targeting as high as posibile if you go on cruise
Gunnery Weapons upgrades & Advanced weapon upgrades 5 ( for fitting ) Tactical weapon reconfiguration ( as high as posibile min to 3 ) ( no use for a dread that cant siege
Misiles awwhhh lots of sps. Need to have support skills at least in 4 , preferebly most of them in 5 at least skills dealing with rof, flight time, flight velocity, explosion radius should be in 5. ( hell i started the list and they just keept comming dont flame , might be other skills that other guys think they are a must but it's a starter incomplete list )
Navigation Warp drive operation 5 jump drive op 5 jump drive calibration 4 jump fuel conservation 4 Need all of those, being able to jump does not benefit you much. All travel routes are planned having in mind pilots have Jump Drive calibration to 4. Being short of it you will either stall your fleet or more realistic left behind. And you dont want that. Also even if you have isk for enough fuel you are intrested your dread to consume as low fuel as posibile as you have limited ammount of fuel for jumping and it's splitted with the fuel needed for sieging.
Spaceship command advanced spaceship command 5 caldari bs 5 caldari dread 3 at least ( 4 better )
I'm not going to make a sum of all the skills in here but summing them up i thing they amount to somewhere around 20-25 milion sp alone in necesary skills.
As mentioned your fitting needs to be on par with other dreads fitting otherwise you will be there just for the other team to have somthing to shoot at. ( ppl will scan modules on your ship and t1 modules or inapropriate fitting eg. no cap shield booster will reveal low skills and therefore the vulnerability of your dread)
Still it remains your choice. You need to acknoledge that even if it's an awsome target to have in mind you will find alot of frustration and even horible losses if you are not properly skilled ( your char and yourself). It's a honorable goal but i'm shure there are other goals fun enough for you until it.
Speaking of rl skills being able to use evemon ( to make a total of skills i mentioned ) , understanding witch the FITTING skills are, and being able to plan a realistic phoenix fit in EFT (eve fitting tool ) are a must.
dictors, hictors, recons logistics... al of them fun and needed ships in a fleet. Or buy a character.

First of one important question for pilot Dread dread can fly into high sec or not. ?
if cant fly to dread then why?

owwww .... hoping it's not just the troll-bait.
Dreads , and capitals for that matter cant get in empire.
Fun fact: they cant jump trough gates either. Ony mean of moving between systems are cynosural fields (for sake of simplicity i will ignore jumpbridges and titan bridges).
Cyno cant be lit in high-sec.
Ah and yeah, wormholes .... no they cat be used. high-sec exist will allways have am max allowed mass smaller than a cap.

I purchased this account when I was new to the game because my impatience got the better of me and I had just gotten my tax return back. It had around 13 mil SPs and could fly all 4 racial BSs. None of them well. It has around 22mil SPs now and all those SPs have been spent filling in support skills (cap, grid, cpu, weaps and t2 large projectiles with lvl 4 weaps support skills). I am feeling now, after losing ship after ship after ship in the beginning that I have a fully competent PvP BS pilot (RR, POS, Snipe, etc) + HACs and ceptor.
I have to make the decision whether to pursue caps or go down the t2 path for hictors, command ships etc. but it is only now that I feel as though I have not just the SPs, trained skills and EXPERIENCE to begin the capital combat end of the game. |

I have around 15mil SP and don't like flying anything larger than a drake...usually it's a cruiser or HAC.
But yeah...don't rush to a dread. It takes at "least" a year of training to be specialized in it and actually be decent in a real fight. Use EFT and Evemon, and then decide if a 2bn POS shooting ship is really worth it. On another note, I also have an annoying sig.

Still have like 3 weeks on piloting it well ;)
