I've been in business most of my working life and am appalled at the way some of you people have been treated.
This is the type of thing that causes new International laws to be created and all suffer for it. If respected businesses like CCP canÆt regulate themselves and provide proper customer service itÆs only a matter of time before the law steps in to protect the consumer.
No-one should pay a fee to play a game and then find them self banned without an explanation. It doesnÆt matter what the organisations policy is, they are not only asking for trouble but stealing from the hand that feeds them.
ItÆs a great game but not enough effort is put into making sure that innocent players arenÆt being treated badly. There is no middle ground, anything else is stealing. All it takes is something as simple as an explanation to why the player was banned.
All said, IÆve been playing for over 3yrs on 3 chars and I love the game. This treatment of players makes me worried and unhappy.

hey guys, I know exactly what you all feel
I set up a new computer with my alt but floundered on entering the correct username at logging on (mispelt it a couple times) BANG account banned pending investigation with the reason being security compromised
10 days I've been waiting for any reply, still silence from CCP
Instead of the next patch, perhaps CCP should invest in a customer services that actually works.
there, thats some steam blown off

Man this makes me unhappy. Half my ships are on my alt account and it might just have been banned due to me typing in the wrong password?
An answer, however short to the petition would be nice. Oh well, one can hope.

Well this thread is full of horror stories so for you conspiracy theorist I''ll provide you with some more ammunition. This morning just before logging on I saw a vent pm chat from a friend telling me they were worried about me because they saw me log on twice and that I would not respond. I knew something was up because I had just rolled out of bed and hadn't been on since downtime.
I logged on my main expecting the worst and soon realized it was far worse than I could have ever imagined. I was in Jita in space and in an Iteron which was astonishing to me considering my standings for this toon with the Caldari State are -7.11. Strange things happened when I docked. My ship undocked itself. When I tried to leave the system I could not. I got knocked off and when I logged back on I was now in Muvolailen when I tried to leave there I jumped through the gate and ended up right back in Muvolailen and then my ship would not uncloak after the jump.
I soon learned that this was only the beginning of my horror as I checked the corp wallet to find it was empty. I then checked the assets only to discover that nearly 800 researched BPO's were nearly all gone. An entire hanger worth of dozens of ships was gone, all resources gone, all trade inventory gone and even the members hanger emptied. They even went so far as to cancel all manufacturing jobs as well as research jobs, oddly enough they left almost $2billion isk in sell orders up.
I could not honestly give a total figure in isk that is gone as I haven't done an audit in some time but a conservative estimate would be in the $100billion isk range easily.
Do you honestly believe that I am the kind of person who would share my account login information with these kinds of assets? I have been playing Eve for two years and I am well aware of the scams that go on. In thirty years of using PC's I have never fallen victim to a virus or a hacking attack this is the first one and it is devastating.
My horror story begins today and after reading this thread I am not encouraged that is going to end any time soon or that I will be satisfied with the outcome but all I can do at this point is wait.

8 days start to finish and finally back in the game, once the senior GM was in contact was very quick.
for the process he went through, i honestly think it could have been alot quicker in being resolved, but just grateful to be pew pewing again.

Did you get any response before it was resolved? Just curious, since I have no idea whether my petition was even read.

Got an email about 1400 from a gm saying it the petition had gone to a senior GM and then about 1900 hours received an email from the senior GM and 2 mins later a response to my email I sent on to customer services by the same gm, he must be the only one working.
Good luck to everyone still stuck

I don't care what CCP's policy is, this man deserves to have all his stuff reimbursed due to this ugly hack that has occurred upon him.
Before X-mas, I had my main isk-making account hacked, where I had what I estimate to be around 6-8 billion isk worth of ships, minerals, salvage and loot. Once I got my account back, after a week or more of waiting time (I did not get any email sent that my account was suspended, and I was busy with real life commitments. Nor did I receive an email that they had received my petition at all, which was done from the website here) I finally got my character back. Inserted was 2 billion isk, but nothing remained. I had lost a faction/officer fitted Kronos, a Navy Mega, 10-12 ships of HAC's, Command Ships, Battleships, faction items, billions worth of minerals, salvage and loot. Everything had been liquidated within a day, and isk transferred off my account.
What did I receive? Perhaps 25% of my stuff worth in isk. That's the compensation you get for being hacked and experience a customer service so subpar it's ridiculous.

If that is the kind of reimbursement that CCP has planned for me then I can save them some time right now, they can go ahead and leave the ban in place permanently and while were at it we can just shut off my other two accounts as well.
For anyone still believing that we must be the ones at fault here because we must have done or not done something to bring the problem on ourselves then when you can explain how a key logger was able to make it so my character whose standing with the Caldari State is -7.11 was able to fly into Caldari space from the borderzone to Jita and not be put in her pod as well as how 20 Secure Audit Log containers were repackaged after having emptied them just today then maybe I will admit that I might have missed something that got me hacked that I haven't had happen in 30 years of using pc's.
This is more than just a key logger, read whats going on here wallets being emptied after roles are revoked, audit log containers being repackaged inside of 30 days, my toon being anywhere in Caldari space and not in a pod.

OK Now I am beginning to become concerned. If any of these statements by several people are true, then we may have a much more serious problem than a simple case of stolen passwords.
1 The strange behavior of recovered accounts at the moment they are recovered such as flying in space they can not be in. 2.Corporate actions by individuals who had their roles removed. 3.Secure containers being disassembled prior to the expiration of the 30 day timer.
This all adds up to someone with "God Mode" abilities having access to this account. Typically this would be available to developers or other highly placed individuals although I know of other games where most employees have access to these "super users" services. If something like this is going on we will likely hear about other "strange" hack experiences. Or maybe not, developers typically delete forum posts which hint at nefarious insider activities. Bookmark this thread. If it disappears you should become scared, very scared.

Well I've been reading this thread since it started and IF:
- we are not trolled here - these people really never bought any isk - these people never went to see those 'bittany-whatever' links asking them to upgrade their flash player - these people really do not have any keyloggers on their windows machine - these people don't have any common ground like a website they all have visited which has been compromised
What else is left over? Either it's an inside job or the client is hacked at some level.

Ignore all the 'just make one petition and wait for months' advice here.
I was locked out of my account by a mysterious password change on patch day and the reset wasn't working. I created a petition on the web without logging in (since I was locked out of my account) and got no response for 3 days.
I used another account to re-create the petition in-game and got an answer in a day. It took another day or so to resolve, but they were on it. I never did hear back about the original web-anonymous petition.
I think anonymous requests are just ignored. I bet creating a temp account to handle the petition would work better.
As far as bans -
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has been banned with cause. Surely they don't just click off your account and never contact you. Wouldn't they want you and everyone else to know what behavior earned you the ban?

"Hi!
We recently banned your account to investigate it for isk laundering.
As soon as we've been able to ensure you are innocent, we will unban your account and let you know! Please accept our sincerest apologies, and rest assured any lost game-time will be reimbursed!
Regards, CCP Staff"
Uh, yeah... that would be VERY sensible of them to do.
1. player is actually laundering isk, and goes to take steps to ensure all associated accounts look as clean as possible 2. player ensures there are as few cross-references as possible between their accounts 3. player attempts to liquidate what assets they have left to try and get as much profit out of the remainder of what they have as they can before that/those account(s) also get banned for investigation
Makes perfect sense. ---

Yep, this looks like they had a server breach or inside job. I have seen it happen in other MMO's, it is rare, but it happens.

For the record my account was not banned until I put a petition in to report the hack. The ban came within mins of filing the petition. I am fine with that, what completely sucks is not getting a message at all that the ban was coming or not getting anything after the ban was in place.

What is really something to be worried over is that accounts get hacked, directors remove all roles and the accounts still can get to the assets ?

I think there are 2 seperate security breaches here, 1 regarding accounts and another regarding exploits.
So your account got hacked and the hackers have knowledge of various exploits that they use to clean the accounts asap.
Still being able to exploit security roles ( as in reinstate previously removed roles from corporations ) is a major exploit and bigger than anything I ever heard or seen before.
It means only 1 account has to get hacked and an entire corporation can get cleaned out.
Now that would not be THAT bad, except that CCP only reimburses ISK and not any tangible assets ... so bye bye BPO's, Ships, implants, anything ...
This is pretty bad, and all you can do is prey you won't become a victim.

Throwing in my two cents
I'm sorry to hear about these situations
in tight situations one trick is keeping to straight facts - in regards of an inside job, two come to my mind -The bad, CCP has two single-shard servers, the other is in China. This doubles the risk by my logic. -The good, after the T2O incident, CCP founded an internal affairs unit.
Not proposing any solutions, taking opinions or such, just wanted to mention what came to my mind, reading about these terribad incidents
Best of luck to those affected.
