Edited by: Natasha Nikolaev on 07/01/2010 02:46:19 Sometime between Monday ~10pm (when I last logged off) and Tuesday 6:50am my alt account was banned "pending investigation" for "Reason: Account Security Compromised". I don't click links, I don't buy/sell ISK, I am the org owner of this account (though not of one of the characters), noone else has been allowed to use said account and interestingly enough my two market sell orders totaling 10 million fullerides (6.75-7.5 billion ISK at current prices) by one of the two characters on that account are still up in jita. I was given no further information and I have yet to get a response from EVE's support team to the email I sent immediately after realizing the account was banned.
Upon further investigation I have found there seems to be a lot of people reporting sudden bans with the same reason since Dominion hit. What the heck is going on? Is it possible the "new and improved" IGB has a major security flaw or is there something else going on here?
P.S. CCP: It should take you < 24 hours, not days/weeks, for an initial response to emails concerning issues such as this.

Did you use the eve online websites account management page to apply a gtc to the banned account? If so then you got hit by a bug that apparently is not easy to find and kill. The workaround is to buy a gtc like normal then use the ingame method to break it into plex then use those to add time to the account. Alas it won't work for an account that already lapsed buy it will save you a ton of greif if you catch it before your sub runs out.

Nope, no GTCs used.

I had the same problem in a similar timeframe on my main account. I replied to the original CCP e-mail, no response in 72+ hours. I e-mailed CCP support, no word from them in 48+ hours. There is no phone support for this game (for whatever reason).
WTF, eh? |

ccp doens't like you. sometimes the initial petition is overlooked. you have to practically knock down their doors to get help. I don't know why but it works.

I'm sorry but I had to remove you from fulleride market competition for now :P Now I must return and make profit XD
Seriously - I just hope this doesn't happen to me, as it seems there has been an increased amount of innocent people getting banned, just today seen a post in my main char corp forums that a guy got banned for nothing. With the problems in account management going on I believe him not CCP.

Funny how this is always claimed, often-times believed by others, and almost never true in reality.
You'd think people would start to notice this pattern.
As for the OP. CCP typically doesn't do interactive investigations. They tend to keep quiet until everything has been sorted out. They also tend to be rather thorough and take whatever time they need with the investigation.

Wow that sux. Sorry to hear that. I hope CCP sorts this out ASAP for you.
And if your skills are done training does CCP correct for any lost time?

If CCP have locked the account because they suspect it has been compromised then they will reimburse training. Or at least they did for the 2 people I know personally. In fact they over-compensated.
If you get a lock for something you have done, then probably no.

Would a suspicious (but innocent) purchase or contract or scam appear as money laundering and thus trigger the ban?

Yep, if someone contacts you and says "I do you good price on fullerides, you make big profit" you have to be careful. It could be that the fullerides have been bought with illicit ISK and if you buy them then you have become part of a ISK laudering operation. It is very difficult for CCP to know if you are part of an ISK selling ring or just some unlucky chump caught up in it.

That's odd, I swore the Reimbursement Policy said they didn't when I looked a couple days ago. That must have been some good crack, because that's clearly not what the policy says.

Hey now, all of my fullerides were bought on market at the beginning of November.

Not to be overly dramatic or anything, but if this drags on more than a week or two I'll probably just quit. Taking longer than that to return items/ISK is one thing, totally shutting down my ability to play for a month is a good excuse for me to find another game instead.

I'm disappointed with CCP you haven't even been given a holding "we're investigating" email from them.

Yeah, me too. There's not even a "we received your e-mail" auto-reply.

you won't get an answer here. ccp policy is they will not discuss petitions in the forums. second, they don't just randomly ban people. something has been done by or to that account. until it's sorted you won't get an answer

Do they realise that a competitor, Star (****) Online is coming out very soon. Leaving customers high and dry is promoting moving elsewhere. Instead of developing new content to moan about or colour schemes and nerfs for ships, it would be a better use of time to clear up bugs and keep current subscribers happy.

I am in the same exact situation. Banned pending investigation, account security.
No idea why. Banned 2009-12-28
No responses to emails, petitions, anything. My skilltraining stopped day after the ban too

I understand what their policy is, but Morbo says "That is not how customer service works!"
Or, at least that's not how customer service is *supposed* to work. I mean, they don't even have a phone number I can call and listen to a robot voice tell me how important I am to them for six hours. I petitioned on this account and pointed out that Sony Online Entertainment was widely regarded as having absolutely terrible customer service for EverQuest, but even they had a phone number you could call. There is no other useful way for me to give feedback to CCP, so forum ranting it is.

If the petition reflects the status, this is not doing much to help my attitude. No one has even looked at the petition. I understand CCP policies and whatnot, but again- they're crap. I understand giving customer service people time off over the holidays, but if you build up over a week in backlog in a <1 week period of minimal staffing, you did something horribly wrong.

I'm just going by what I've seen on other threads on this,
there was a mention [not that I can find now] about why they don't respond to emails
and when it is fixed you should come back and finish this thread IMHO

I would, but I'm headed off on a business trip next week. My account will expire while I'm gone, and I'm sure as hell not renewing if the time to fix something like this is a month or more (as it seems to be, from the post up-thread). I didn't see anything about being billed for time on a banned account. Presumably they wouldn't autobill me, because I can't even log on to cancel the account. I wonder if subscription time left counts down while an account is banned.

I find it very sad that we must protect ourselves in some shape, way, or form, from the very company we pay to play.
