I keep receiving conversation invititations from unknown persons. Why?
is it dangerous to accept them?
my usual procedure is to reject and block for future attempts but I guess they can use an alt for evade this.

Because they want to chat with you. It is an MMO.
Sometimes, there's good reason. For example, you could be out mining and a mining CEO is trying to recruit. /me shrugs.
If you're in Jita or Amarr receiving random invites, it's likely a scammer. There's not really any harm there (unless you actually give them money).
It's just people wanting to chat with you. No harm or benefit beyond conversation. The harm could (possibly) come if they convince you to give them money or you **** them off enough so they shoot you. That said, I'd suggest being yourself.

You take the risk of being helped and get in touch with other human beings. Yeah those annoying pieces of meat interrumpting your yellow laser spectacle experience...
Now seriously, I'd say its more dangerous to keep your current way. Someone could take your behaviour as offensive and harass you for the lulz 
Additionally you can change your CSPA to 1m ISK that will evade most players except they are utterly rich.

If you are in high sec, a lot of those chat invites will be people missing the 'show info' bit on the right click menu. (see the trillion threads on eve UI)
If it is low or null sec, then they are trying to ruin your day - see comments above about cspa charge.

id say its more likely if its in high they could be inviteing you to help channles if your new i always miclick in low sec and end up convoing a guy im hunting akward convo ensues usaly

I recommend setting your CSPA charges to 0 ISK, unless you don't want to be bothered.

Yeah, been at both ends of those convos myself lol
I just apologize for the misclick and close the convo usually. Though sometimes you can use it to distract someone as you warp in on top of them.

I'm just wondering what game you come from where it would be dangerous to start a conversation with someone...World of Warcraft would be the obvious ;)

This. Oftentimes when you are out mining, somebody may just be trying to start up a friendly conversation to pass the time. Perhaps they have a question about the game, or see something and may be offering advice. If you suspect that they are trying to scam you, then you can tell them; "No thanks" and block them if you wish.
If you get a ship destroyed by somebody, don't get in a conversation with them and start complaining and crying about the ship loss. Tends to not get you anywhere and they may make you a specific target in the future. In my noob days of playing eve, I once had a great conversation with somebody that destroyed me. I had been ratting in a low sec belt and not paying attention to Local when the player got me. I sat there in my pod next to the wreck of my rifter and we chatted for quite a while. He gave me good advice about pvp tactics and how I can improve my skills. He even made sure that I had my ship insured and gave me free pass to get another ship and loot the wrecks of my ship and the rats. Not all pvp encounters go that way, but attitude can really make the difference in enjoying the game or being griefed by the game. Use every opportunity to learn about and learn from the other players of Eve.

I would accept. It could be anything from a Corporation invite to a scam. Just be careful and don't do things you're not willing to do.

The usual reasons that people convo me, is
1. To ask me to join their corp
2. To ask me to merge corps
3. To ask me to join an alliance
4. To tell me that our corp is in their mining space and they would appreciate it if we would move someplace else.
I've yet to have a convo just to shoot the breeze, for social reasons.
Personally, I would love it if there was a custom field that I could enter a reason why i can't talk to them at that moment, or perhaps a subject field for them to fill out before convo me so that I know what's on their mind and can decide to accept or reject.

If you're in hostile territory, I recommend setting auto-reject on because people can "convo bomb" (multiple people sending invites) you to lag your client and get an easy kill. Not sure if this is petitionable or not, but watch out anyway...
On another note, I also have an annoying sig.

Usually in high sec it's quite ok to reply and not dangerous at all.
In lower security areas it's another issue altogether - be paranoid, be very paranoid =)

I would not be concerned with random convo requests... however I would be concerned with random gang invites...

Being very new to EVE and online gaming in general, I was a little suspicious when I received a couple conversation request, but it was just a couple players "cold calling" for new corps members. I imagine they were hitting up new players that were in NPC corps.
Not a big deal.
