So, as we can see, a Ferox can tank nearly as well as a Drake. Swapping a LSE II for a large booster would allow you to tank MORE than the passive Drake for a limited time.
So obviously, these ships are very balanced, and the Ferox does not suck, except for DPS.
Reworked...

So, a well fitted Ferox can easily deal more dps and have an almost equal tank as a Drake!
Its not as bad as we've been told!

Yes I know, the circumstances needed are kind of rare, but you forget the range bonus on the Ferox...

If you kill faster, you can sacrifice a bit of DPS... And with the DPS cited in IP; you wouldn't break a BS-rat's tank; or at least I can't - have to switch in two BCU II's and CN heavies instead of standard (using roughly the same fitting).

<shrug> My usual drake fit deals 340 DPS with 713 Tank or I can go with more tank (939) and less DPS (294) if I need to. Alternatively I can do 425 DPS and 398 tank. (standard ammo /drones)
Not that it really matters I suppose.

[FITTING]

It is basicly the standard drake fitting to use, 2 BCUs + 2 SPRs (3 BCUs would work fine too on lvl 3 missions, but since it is mainly done by newer players 2 BCUs is better). If it doesnt fit for you, do like everyone else and replace an LSE for a shield recharger.
Good ferox rail fitting is just your standard stuff, some buffer tank, damage mods, range mods, sensor booster, 250mm rails (200s also possible). Get 100km range and you got same range as sniper HACs. For PVE ferox is just crap.

Ok, look for starters, the Drake gets +25% kinetic damage.
Secondly, using a weapon with a sub 10km range without a speed mod is a terrible idea.
Thirdly, are you really trying to suggest some kind of equivalence between a 80km range weapon, and a 3.4km range weapon?
Fourthly, when you're PvE tanking you're tanking two damage colours. Fit accordingly.

Battleclinic has plenty of good fits. The irony is that you have to know how to fit ships before you are able to weed out the terrible ones from the good ones. What a conundrum.
There is no "perfect" fitting site though, SHC has plenty of failfits. I don't believe K even has fits. The only place left is alliance killboards, which require the same fitting knowledge as Battleclinic. There are a lot of failfits everywhere, is what I'm saying.
