The only thing that really ticks me off Bad about a Mega, is allmost every setup REQUIRES a Load of Named mods. On My Raven, I got 1 maybe 2 named Items (THe Booster and the SHield Hardeners). If you don't use the named mods, your CPU will Die (We evil Caldari must have took the Good Computer tech with us when we left.)
TBH with you Most setups I've read here are doable and Good. Basicly The best thing you can do is read this thread, Disregaurd anyones Claims of "Uber Leet, I can Kill 5 Dread Gurista BS Solo with no cap Problems." THen go out and try some of the setups that appeal to you.
One thing on a Mega, I think it's worst Weakness IS tracking with the big guns. Even Though it gets an awesome Bonus to tracking, If your Blasterthron Gets Webbed by some Intys, And you can't Rush in to Rip that Flipping Chicken S**t Rail Gun User, and your Drones are hitting NOthing but space, YOur in Bad shape. Nos are great to Hurt PC Inty's, but they give you Some Cap and don't Hose the NPC one's so bad.
Also, I think Cap is more Critical on a Mega than any other ship. Amar BS Get the Awesome Cap bonuses, Caldari use missles which need no energy, and Minmatar use Projectiles and missles, again Cap efficient. Blaster Suck down Juice faster than a Frat Boy Chugs Beer.
Good luck, Mega's are my Personal Favorite, and If setup Properly Can rip any ship Apart in Seconds. I think My Fastest Kill on a NPC BS was about 50 Seconds Once I closed.
OK I'll shut Up, I'm rambling. SOrry

That's the basics for a solo blasterthron setup. I'd have to check the fitting...you can fiddle around a bit with 2 large armor repairer, and/or drop the nos for an extra gun and a launcher.
This does look good however it sounds expensive lol :S Wat skills will i need to fit this, lvl5 elec and engi and thats it :S

10 pages before i found a decent mega thread - this deserves a bump!!
I have been playing with:
7 electrons, 1 x cruise. MWD, web, scram, heavy injector 2 x large reps, 3 x hardeners, CPU, Damage Mod.
Its a work in progress, but a reasonably solid setup to start with.
Skills: Eng5, Elec 5, Weap upg 4 (Training 5).
I am hoping to lose the CPU when I get weapon upgrades to 5. I am also playing with the idea of getting rid of a large repairer and putting an Energized t2 nano plate in. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

Hehe, I love setups like those I'm never brave enough to try them myself but you can't get less standard than that. Another favorite "shock setup" is to fit only large smart bombs in the high slots. Great for those nasty interceptor npc's and very few missiles will ever hit you. Just be aware that you cap disappears in a jiffy firing up all those SB's.

those draining setups work, but it aint a blasterthron setup :)
Back to big guns and stuff
7 ion's mwd, web, scrambler, cap injector 6dmg mods, large repair
and your drones.
Trouble is, you need to get in range first. ATM geddons are better, as they can hit from 0km up to 60km with incredible strong megapulses and on top of that the 7/8 dmg mods.
I love the world of unlimited stacking, makes setups so similar.

If it's for NPCing, I suggest running as many active hardeners as possible. Each one of them will halve the damage you take from that specific damage type. I did the maths and it turns out using more hardeners and less repairers will let you take more damage per second, to a point. Using one large tech II or named repairer and four hardeners would be more effective than using two hardeners and two large repairers. It would also use capacitor so you can be less worried about those cap boosters, which have a limited use, and use cap chargers instead, which have permanant use. There's no point in a tanking setup using boosters as you have a finite supply and tanking is about being able to take all the damage you're being dealt and repair it. If you have a good tanking setup, it might take away from your weaponry and thus make you have to tank for a long time to destroy something.
The ultimate tanking setup is to run all your low slots as hardeners and have a cruiser running remote repairers on you. The cruiser could use a mwd to get up close, repair you to full and then warp out before the enemies attack. With all those hardeners running, you won't be taking much damage at all and can survive without repairing against most things for long enough for the repairing cruiser to get fixed up after it's warped out (if it was attacked) and then gang warp back in and mwd toward you again.
If you're going for PVP, I have no idea. I'm purely an NPC fighter at the moment.

How is the dmg dealing with that setup, comparing to ions/neut blasters? Im not at home so i cant try it out atm...

As i said im not at home now so i cant try the setup,Is it really that tight so you cant even put a rocket launcher or something fun on the last highslot?

BTW in PVP,When shall you go for the enemy with MWD and when shall you turn around and warp out and in again to try and get closer?(I suppose that this depends highly on what ship you are encountering,But mean in general)

Try this out for NPCs
High: 7xIon 1xSiege Launcher
Mid: 4xCap Charger 2
Low: 1xLarge Rep 1xMed Rep 2 2xHardener 2xCPR 1xMagnetic Stabilizer 2
Can shoot and tank indefinately.
Only drawback is the snail speed; but this can be compensated for with a drone bay full of ogres and torps/cruise in the launcher. For those infuriating NPC bs's that like to run away, torps lets you gain on em as each explosion slows em down
