I'm trying to decide whether to buy a nightmare or not. However as it stands I am currently doing missions with a caldari agent who gives me guristas/serpentis/angels enemies. I have read a lot of posts about the nightmare but not many on how well it does against these npcs.
I would like to know how well does the nightmare do in this region? I understand the nightmare is primarily an Amarr space mission runner.
I can fly a nightmare and use the tachyon beams. I am however using a raven at present for L4s and may train for a golem. However with the golem you need almost max skills, rigs and javelins to hit out at 40+km ranges which will take longer training. I'm just wondering whether a nightmare would solve the range issue and do missions fairly quickly. The ship I am after is one which finishes the mission without looting - just lp and rewards.
Many thanks in advance

Do you already have T2 tachs? or any laser gunnery skills?

Edited by: Cillisia on 10/01/2010 14:04:14 Yeah I can use t2 Tachs and have them. I plan to use faction tachyons as well btw. I also have 7mil SP in gunnery as well. I used to fly Apoc with mega modulated beams but my corp moved out of amarr space.

Deffo use faction tachs on nm for cap.
Nightmare can work there, but it wont be better than a CNR its actually pretty good against serpentis as those are thermal weak, its a bit slow against gurristas but not terrible as long as you fit an ECCM, angels is pretty bad but doable. However if you intend staying in caldary space then you might as well go for golem or a cnr.
Else start doing missinoing with ministry of war or something of the like and you'll become very happy about the investment

Ye i figured you wouldn't say it if you hadn't some knowledge backing it, seems pretty stupid though, might as well make it sensor strength based. The way it is you are just throwing out a lot of the games mechanics. I'm guessing they dont want the golem to be useless against guristas ^^
