I've been in this game some time now and joined a player corp over a year ago. But, recently, I started a new character and was surprised to see the starter corps so full of players.
So, I invite all players, who are members of player run corps, to share their experiences and put right the rubbish that gets spouted, in the starter corp channel, about player corps.

It all depends wich player corps you join.

I've only been playing since September 11th, so I'm still in the (very friendly and chatty) "CAS" Gallente NPC starter corp whilst I learn about the game and figure out what and where I want to go. However, I don't see any rubbish being spouted in our Corp channel about Player corps. There are some Corp members who have been playing for months but they don't sit around slagging off proper Corps, merely saying they're not for them. Perhaps CAS is an exception rather than the norm, but what kind of rubbish are people spouting?
