I'm using a Gallente Cruiser and am an armor tank but as I have focused almost entierly on that facet of defense I find my shield skill pretty much where it was on day 1.
My question is should I at least fortify my shields a little by training to get the basic certificates in there operation or do I leave them in favor of armor (as I am doing now).
thanks in advance for any advice.

Edited by: Louis deGuerre on 11/01/2010 23:31:45 It never hurts to train shield operation and shield management, but when fitting a tank don't mix cause it never works well. With a few exceptions gallente ships are made for armor tanking so I'm thinking the problem is more your fitting than your skills.
Post your fit and people will jump on it with suggestions

Skills that offer shield improvements without the need to fit modules are worthwhile - they offer a little more buffer before you have to activate your armor tank.
There are VERY few situations where you should mix tanks (An Orca with a mixed shield/structure tank is one I can think of), so avoid fitting both shield and armor tank modules unless you have a very specific reason for it. ______________________ Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University. |

Sounds good. So I will take a few basic skills for shields that do not need moduals to be equip to balance my defense out a bit.
Thanks for the help.

Edited by: Serge Bastana on 12/01/2010 01:31:33 Improve the basic shield skills as mentioned above, and chances are you might get one or two of the certs by doing that. Every bit helps but don't worry too much about your shields vanishing, you get used to that and once you feel confident with your armour tank you'll just grin as they peel away.
I remember my first week or two in the game, I was running around with the shield booster on my trusty Tristan and it was a little bit of a leap of faith to do without it and trust in my armour repper to save me.
Besides, you may well train more shield skills later should you cross train to Caldari or Minmatar ships later on. And even if you don't, getting the skills to increase the shield amount or recharge are always useful. ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.
Nobody round here is offering the second one therefore your choices are limited! |
