Seems to be an Issue and one that seems to get locked down by CCP very quickly.
If a person plays a game , there is an attachment formed (rational or not). And for anyone that feels left out or marginalized they don't want to feel that way in a game they spend money on.
The Politically Correct would say "But in space who cares what color you are" For that I say I can can answer that the person playing (and raising the concern) would most like a representation of themselves in the game as close to accurate as comfortable, in this case a black character that is not limited to one bloodline, I mean are there no blacks in France, or England, or Asia, or the rest of Europe , or in America? So why not diversify them in this forward vision of human exploration and expansion , along the same progression that exists today.
Now the racially concerned would say that the game is minimizing blacks having them only in ONE blood line, making them the least intelligent (baseline wise) of all the races. To them I would say it sure seems that way, but this is a game created by people who may have limited and very distinct opinions , and their creation took on those viewpoints during it's initial creation and release.
The question that should be asked is not If there is a problem, but why is there a concern still after nearly a decade. Maybe with the new system people were hoping for more diversity and got shafted, all the talk about skin tones being expanded was not as expansive as expected. Point is from the outside and from the new player on the global scene it looks bad, almost exclusionary to relocate a non existent people (based on Real-life comparatives) to being less intelligent and having inferior tech in comparison to the other space faring denizens in the game. Becoming out raged over someone pointing that out is ridiculous. Quitting because it exists, is foolish. Discussions need to be made and a simple solution would be add the same set of facial structure and skin tone selections to ALL the Bloodlines.
IMHO:
I would like to see a dark skinned racially mixed featured Achura or Gallente or Caldari maybe some Mulatto Amarr. |
