Okay I'm looking to choose my faction to max out my ship skills in. I've been flying a battleship for awhile and have been making enough money to move to the next step. I've been doing WH ops on my char and making a good income and in a month I will have enough for a fully fit maruader and or carrier. I am finishing up skills to get the skills on the move for these but I just need to pick a faction. So I will bullet out what I'm looking for.
Maruader-A good PvE ship for lvl 4's and WH -Good for Fleet Operations, a support while providing good dps to clean up those dang sleepers
Carrier-A good support ship for fleets not needing to provide dps but have a way to offensively defend itself
So basically I need to choose the faction that would mostly complete these needs in one. I prefer Caldari or Galente but if the best chose is Amarr or Minmatar I will switch so please help me out and this is my first post so don't be harsh

Liang is prolly right, I'd go minmatar because looking good is important too :) Problem with gallie/caldie is their caps, not so good. And Paladin and Archon/Aeon/Rev are very good ships.. If you have to pick between your two I'd go caldari, golem & phoenix aren't bad ships. All the above is prolly crap Drone Guide

I'd say amarr. You want large ships and they hav some very nice bs's and capitals.
lazers are awesome if you plan a extended stay in wormholes for their infinite ammo awesomeness.
Also it sounds like you want a capital that's gonna solo or small fleet which rules out minmatar as it's more about being able to support other capitals not solo the small guys. ------------------------------ God is an afk cloaker |

Edited by: Prometheus Risen on 12/01/2010 22:00:11 Thanks for all the input. TBH I think Amarr ships are sexy but I went with Gallente since I started with them. Another thing to add is I love being cap stable is the paladin and so on good with that?, well within reasonable boundaries. And I don't really have a problem with ammo because I fly a Dominix or "Space Whale" and drones do fine while in a fleet but in a group of 2 or just solo it doesn't work out.

Amarr are easily the best and a lot of aesthetically pleasing hulls.

Question, does the Paladin(super sexy) provide good dps while being able to switch from local tanking and support tanking/etc?(my corp does most in fleets and we like to have supporting ships for our newer players), or would the Golem do that better? I've heard the Golem is the king of PvE, in your opinions is that true?, would the Paladin do better for WH and lvl 4's or the Golem? But good point on ammo though, the Paladin would be helpful out there not worrying about ammo. So please input is awesome, whatever you wanna say to help do it.

Paladin >>>>> Golem for WH because it armor tanks. Yes, it's that simple. If my corp ever decides to really do the wormhole thing, I am prepared to bring my Paladin in. I'm thinking something like this:
4 Tach II, 2 Solace RR, Tractor II 3 CR II, Fed Navy Web (Mindlinked, Interdiction Maneuver'ed) Plate, 3 Hardneners, CPRs 2x CCC CR/CC implants
I have an exact fit at home.... but that's at home. :)

So what I'm seeing is Amarr and that's fine with me I just want more input from more players and I'll start the training. So please the more input the better.

i fly all ammar and gellente ships i have an archon and i love it. if you were to go that route you would not be disapointed. on top of that the not using ammo part on ammar ships is fantastic. especialy when your on a long stint. if you get stuck without ammo against some sleepers never fear a lazer is here... as for the carrier its a great supporter and as for defending itself umm drones and cap reppers FTW. fighters are epic little things.

t1 crystals never expire
Faction ammo and t2 crystals do expire.
Since for pve-purposes you just use t1, you never have to buy ammo except for your first set of crystals

Well...
T2 and faction crystals DO burn out, but so slowly that it's actually VIABLE to PvE with them... And, let's face it, even if you bring every type you could concievably need, and then a couple of spares in case of burn-out, you're STILL not using much of your cargohold for ammo.
