Is there a container in the game that can be used to hide courier contract items from the courier?

Cap
if you stick the contents inside a container and then enter the container into the contract, the contents OF the container can't be seen or scanned.

False. Or were you deliberately trying to mislead him into a false sense of security?
Scanners scan straight through cans now. Have done for over a year (or thereabouts) _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Also doesn't work. The scanner will scan straight through your packaging. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Containers within containers do not show their contents to cargo scanners.

Thats fine and all except for the fact you cannot put a container inside a container, and i know for a fact you can scan straight through the packaging of a courier contract, through a container and see the contents of the container within the courier packaging. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Containers within containers don't.
Ship->Container->Junk =Shows on scan Ship->Courier Contract->Giant secure container->Junk = Junk doesn't show on scan
Objects in Corp hangers (of say an orca) don't show.

You might want to test that second one yourself. Also, i know about Corp hangars. But we're talking about courier contracts and Corp hangars are not containers.
CCP Specifically changed this a while back so that cans are completely ignored now and junk is always put on display. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I tested (twice) the "Ship->Courier Contract->Giant secure container->Junk = Junk doesn't show on scan" before Dominion, and it was true, junk didn't show on scan. As the courier owner you could however open the courier contract and container, and see the contents without breaking it. I would test it again if I had sisi installed.

If this is true, then either CCP Stealthreversed the changes recently (Which i find hard to believe) or its a bug. I'll re-test later today on my alt if i can get on. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I tested it because someone in the alliance wanted to know the answer. Weeks later I tested it again, because I was going to use that trick, and I wanted to be sure.
I just tested it again on singularity. I put 1 "optimal range script" in a "small secure container". I made a public courier contract, and then scanned it with other char. The script was hidden, the container was not.
Also you can double click on the courier package to see the contents. Then, if you double click on the container, it will show the contents only if you are docked (why doesn't it work in space?)

If an object is put inside a container and that container is entered into a courier contract, then the items INSIDE the container are invisible to a scanner, you simply see the container.
This may have been changed and then rechanged by CCP at some point, but you're absolutely incorrect to say it can't be done.

Just set the Collateral for the Contract Higher than the cost of the goods getting shipped, that way if the courier steals the goods/dies on the way, then they loose the collateral and you can buy the goods closer to the location :)

Oh good....so I'm not the only person who was thinking this. It just seems rather useless to argue if you can see it or not if you're covered either way. I usually charge around 1.5x the value of the goods my couriers run. But then again, I also pay very well since I'm not a cheap bastard and believe couriers are widely underpaid. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet
