Checking in to state that the XP Dreamscene works like a charm! Well as far as it can work like a charm on this work pc..it's vastly inferior to any current day standards so can't even run the mwv without it locking up every 2 seconds.
Only 2 gripes i have with the program are that doubleclick on any empty (yes, even within an icon..a mm in open background space is enough) area is sufficient to start it as a screensaver and rightclick will only enable you to select properties of the wallpaper video rather than to direct you to the original window of wallpaper and desktop properties.

Using it on windows 7 atm, VERY nice! Only issue is that I can't get a really nice colorscheme going for IE but I'll work it out. Thanks OP! |

right click the .wmv file and set as background.
if it doesnt work then you didn't install dreamscene properly.

awww your post disappointed me : it started off sounding great!
anyways there is another option, you could download vlc player and use the wallpaper option? let us know how that works out for you if you get a chance to try it. : )

Can't make heads or tails of vlc...The help file says you need to turn off overlay in Xp but all the video options are still greyed out after that...not even a video showing up or anything...Guess i'll just run it in Screensaver mode then...it runs just fine when using it as screensaver but as background wallpaper it hogs resources unfotunatly. ___________

Which codec did you use to encode the videos with? I'm having trouble with these in Deskscapes (the preview works fine, yet it just won't show as my desktop background)

if you mean match it pixel for pixel it's a combination of two things.
video editing like normal, and understanding antimation. You don't want the last and the 1st frame to be the same If you do that then there will be a stall. So you want it to be close but still flow into the next part.

I just downoloaded them just for watching the once or two because they really deserve it. How did you do this?
I tried a bit with Dreamscene and stopped it because it ate too much of my CPU (30% load when idle on desktop). That's maybe because I'm watching them at my maximum screen resolution that is 1280x1024? I won't buy another monitor just for wathing these, even if it's a strong temptation!
A bad thing happened to me when I watched the caldari one with MediaPlayer (VLC don't work as you reported) and the minmatar one with RealPlayer, I had Blue screen both time. I never had it on this machine, it could be realplayer or mediaplayer fault, don't know actually. |

EDIT: Also, these aforementioned .wmvs are failing to play in VLC and Winamp.
Sadly as far as I know, these are the only format that will play in dreamscene.

I built a screen saver with the Amarr one. I have an app that builds professional screensavers with pics and/or videos. The one I built works great and has options to add a clock and/or calendar.

Wow, you've done an amazing job with these. Very nice animation and scene setups, well done. You should repost this in the "My EVE" forum as well.
I unfortunately cannot get Dreamscene working (Windows 7 Professional x64), I followed the instructions from the link posted earlier in the thread, but still cant get it to work. Anyone got any suggestions to get it working? |
