With a T2 (except Arb launcher) Raven, should I use any CN Modules? If so, which ones: CN BCS seemed most mentioned.
I have read: 1) don't bother, wait until CNR 2) don't: faction modules will just increase your chance of getting suicide ganked 3) yes, L4s pay enough. So a bit quicker is cost effective as well as less boring 4) yes, while any non-rig can be resold, something like CN BCS can just be moved to the CNR
I want to do L4s efficiently but am not fanatical about winning the ISK/hour bragging rites. I don't want to do something foolish, especially if it will significantly increase the chances of me being sucided as someone sees what they perceive as an expensive lolfit.

Well as long as you can afford to loose it in case of a huge accident. You feel highly competent and dont loose ships left and right. Then i feel you should always go for more gank, say CN BCU's add a bit more dmg but also cost less cpu so you can fit one more than if you used regular BCU II's.
Having more gank will make you more money, and the modules you own should be sellable again if you choose to do that, so really always go for the better thing. Even if you are a pretty new pilot some friend lets you money and you do have the "player skills" know what to do fit right hardeners know about triggers etc. i'd recommend going right into a CNR before a raven. Its better on all accounts no reason not to (this ofc doesn't apply if you are unsure you will survive basic missions)
About suicide ganks, really i have a gist x-type shield booster 2 cn invulns faction tachyons faction heat sinks on my nightmare and i've never been ganked before. I guess avoiding the most popular mission hubs is a good idea for one.

4)
As long as you only use a few faction pieces it will serve you well. CN BCS can easily be used on later ships and won't be a huge incentive for suicide gankers.
People who get suicide ganked are the idiots who put billions in fittings on their ships and sit at zero on mission warpins. ___________________

This. Suicide ganking isn't a real problem until you're putting gonzo deadspace on your ship.

If you have no intention of training Tech II Cruise, then I would suggest looking at CN Cruise Launchers over the CN BCU. 4 BCU are about 180,000 LP, 7 CN Cruise are about 210,000 LP and will offer significantly more DPS over Arby Cruise + CN BCU, but are harder to fit. The BCU are much easier on the CPU load though. |

I had a CN Boost amp and CN BCU's on my Raven before I upgraded to my nighthawk. It was extremely helpful.

I had faction gear too on my Raven / then CNR, then BORED then Tengu / Machariel ^ ^. I still use 80% of my old faction gear.
SO if you never loose ships. Go forward.

You will make enough money with L4s that faction gear stops being prohibitively expensive.
Training T2 launchers (and fitting skills) will prevent you from being a gank target, but I'd still recommend the CN BCSs. You can also buy the CN lauchers and use them till you train T2 launchers and resell them. Faction tank is nice, and sometimes necessary for to fit the T2 launchers, but with good skills you will find T2 will get you by.

CN Cruise gives a better return for a similar price total (assuming you're running 3 or more BCS).
Though, when you spend that much on faction modules for the Raven it's already half the price of a CNR. So many people typically upgrade first to the CNR, and only then then fit faction gear as needed. |

I'd get the cnr then the bcus. going to want to keep the bcus for the cnr and the golem.
cn xl booster might be useful I have always just used a large so w/e.
anything else is pretty much luxury (and that might be saying it nicely for some items), cn invluns are pretty much a lazy fit, cn boost amps are barely better than t2, cn launchers are better than arbys, but arguably better/worse than t2. cn specific hardeners are same resists as t2,

Here's what I did: * Raven: T2 * Raven: T2 + faction booster so I could drop a Co-Processor II. Cost: 109M * CNR: T2 + faction booster + 4x faction BCS. Cost: 356M * CNR: replaced a T1 rigor rig with T2. Cost: 226M
As I had the ISK, desire, need, and confidence I wouldn't get it blown-up in short order, I upgraded.
I may go for faction hardeners next.

Generally, I'd only spend ISK on things that will increase your damage output and stick with T2 tank and T1 rigs. Tossing a few faction damage mods won't make you a large target for ganking, and its an investment. You can always resell them later. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

I started with a drake, hated it (shovel of doom) went to a raven, loved it so much i bought a CNR the second i could afford one the CNR got boring... so i downsized to a cerb. loved it skills got better.. got into a nighthawk.. loved it skills got even better.. got into a tengu... the tank is TOO strong, takes all the fun out of missions.. no real fear of losing the ship...
so i went amarr... abaddon, navy apoc... i'm currently running lvl 4's in my absolution and i love it. pure dream. its pretty, does good damage, and has a very nice tank.
if you insist on missiles.. imo get a cerberus. some of the most fun i had in missions cause of the nescessity for a speed tank. deadspace 10mn afterburner makes getting it capstable with a passive tank a joke.
isk per hour is less... but who cares when you're having fun!
