The Dust 514 trailer needs to be out on the xbox live marketplace right now. I understand that this post might get a lot of hate because nobody who plays this game seems to like consoles, which is okay, but you guys need to raise awareness about this game!

I have to agree with this. Generating awareness on consoles as soon as possible is something that needs to be done ahead of time. Console players love anticipation and build-up. Especially when it comes to things like trailers, interviews, etc. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

I will.
Dust 514 is a new game that no average eve player has interest in thus they wont play it...... But yet that game on a completely different platform with a completely different game style can influence OUR eve world!
Stupid stupid idea if you ask me and is destined to fail or quickly fade into obscurity and thus add another broken mechanic to eve.
Not to mention our subs are funding its development to some extent instead of fixing stuff in eve that is still broken with no real eta of fixes. (Thats CCP choice, but still wrong IMO. Dont alienate your player base on the slim hopes of success in a market that is HIGHLY competitive!)
I could go on forever about how it is such a F*^*)'ed idea but you get the gist.

Agreed, consul gamers are an entirely different bread form most eve plays. The best way for CCP to kill dust's potential is to not advertise and actually give some info.
We all know that CCP loves to keep a lid on any real details till five days before release but that wont fly well with Dust

I may be unique, but I have my Xbox 360 hooked to the same screen as my PC, and I push a button and play MW2 or Red Faction while my miners cycle or my autopilot chugs or my fleet gathers. I fully intend to play both games, from the same chair, once Dust hits. If it sucks, I'll quit, but that's a chance every game takes.
And yeah, I hate having to root through google results every time I want to see some news about Dust. Get a channel set up in Xbox Live so I can see what's doing, watch some videos, maybe listen to an interview while I run my missions or dig at rocks. ======================

I want dust to succeed so bad. I don't think console gamers are the types to fork over regular micro-transactions for a single game though.
But yeah, advertise it.

This is just rubbish. I love EVE as most players I know, but many of us play other games and FPS games are very popular with us. EVE has a crap ton of long term objectives and things to do, that require planning and patience. However it doesn't mean it is a stupid idea to add easy to access, instant gratification portions to the mix to offer a better overall experience. The only mistake is to prevent PC players to have access to the system.
It might fail to bring concole players into it though. Not to mention, if CCPs master plan to advertice things mainly to just current players of EVE and on youtube doesn't change, most concole players won't even know when it came and when it was gone.
CCP can use its money how it sees fit. Having the company reliant on one product isn't the best of plans and since EVE was their first commercial success(as far as I know), it falls to us to fund the expansion of the company. It is the only sensible choice for the head of the company to make and I could care less since CCP clearly has the resources to keep developing EVE despite the new development projects and work on the other products can also benefit EVE.

I agree. There is so much to be done in Eve that I dont understand why they are wasting their time on an FPS game for consoles. If it was a sequel to Eve yeah but an FPS and then make the brilliant choice of NOT including a PC version even though the two platforms are quite similar (hardware wise)?
What, I am supposed to buy a console for one stinking game? I dont think so. |

I currently don't like the idea of Dust, however, I'd be more turned onto the idea if eve players also had the option to buy the game (on PC) and integrate it into eve. For example, here is something I wrote in discussion on Dust, with some friends:
"I would of liked to see Dust be sorta merged into eve on the PC. Where capsuleers could travel to a specific planet, land, etc. I think that could be pretty interesting. Or you could even have a corp that has players able to do both eve and dust, and said corps, when taking systems, would also have to do battle on specific flag planets within a system. This could also have other aspects added along with eve. You could have simultaneous space and land battles - you have a corp trying to take a system, but first they have to kill the already dominate corp's forces within that system. This requires you do bring a "mothership" into system that would then be the hub of the system offensive and allow players to be stationed on the planet. Once on the planet, players (in dust mode) would have to finish certain objectives and kill remaining forces on the planet. At the same time, the mothership must be defended in space, otherwise the planet's forces would be abandoned. This would obviously have to be a little more than the typical match play style."
After reading that again, I'd like to add that the mothership wouldn't have to be stupidly expensive. It could be affordable to most small/medium corps, however, have the ability to be upgraded. Powerful corps/alliance's mothership would be more difficult to defeat.
My 50 cents on Dust!

You do realize you don't need a TV to play a console anymore either, right? That happened shortly after your grandmother got her internet. --Vel

I am one of the very few who still plays BF2142... if it's anything like that and for the PC I'll be playing.
