This is an idea had during work, whilst thinking about Holidays.
Simply there are 2 forms of skill queue that can be used either the current skill queue as many skills as you can start in a 24hr period.
Unfortunately after a year or so of playing the game, there are very few skills that fit in that time frame, I propose that there is a second form of the queue, where you can queue up any 2 skills at a time. (ie the skill that you are currently training plus a skill to train after it) |

The current queue allows you to select the next skill to be trained within 23hrs 59 minutes of it finishing, and if you can't log in to the game within a day of a skill finishing, then train something else temporarily to move the final time to another point.
There's some balancable things that can be added - like injecting skills without the prereqs. since people can already have skills without the prereqs if they are podded and lose sp. Or maybe lengthening the queue by varying amounts of time depending on the noob that's *****ing about it.
The reason the queue is only 24 hours though, is because they don't want people going months on end just training things with no interaction. ie training 2 battleship Vs should make you log in at least 1ce. |

Whilst this is the current workaround it is far from a nice solution.

Being able to add a skill to the queue after it's pre-req would be a step in the right direction also.

However this would work great for people that go on holidays/get posted overseas(like Military personal)

give them a hand and they want the full arm.
everyone else is happy that we dont have to alarm clock for skills anymore. or shuffling skills around so much so you dont loose training as the current skill finishes during work/school.
have you ever tried to be happy with what you got or is it always asking for more more more? |

It's not a work-around, it's how the queue was designed. Be happy you even have a goddamned queue. |

The skill queue was not designed to be a Queue....
It was designed to stop people having to getup at 3am because a skill was ending, or for those of us who have to work (or go to school) each day not being able to skill short skills.
Eve takes some effort on your behalf, thats what makes it worth playing.
(I do sympathize with those people in the armed forces, but no game should be designed around a small percentage of the player base, especially when that percentage does not play for months at a time) |

Ah, the age-old 'It used to be so ****ing hard, so it was a great improvement, yay. There is absolutely no way ever imaginable to improve further'...
I'll raise yours with an 'EVE is SUPPOSED do be hard to navigate/bad UI/laggy/frustrating because of stuff not related to gameplay'. |

It'd be a little more palatable if you could change skills via web interface.
But, really, the best option would be uploading an evemon queue and having it train from that while set to some sort of "vacation mode" which delayed login for a few days.
That'd make it easier for folks on deployment or on extended vacations, without, uh, being convenient for people who are around their computer?

But if your on deployment Why would you keep paying for EVE?

I would really like to be able to inject a skill without the prereqs though. And to be able to add it to the end of the training queue (if that training queue includes the prerequisits of course).
other than that the training queue is fine 24hrs is more than enough to be able to learn a load of skills to level 2-3 and then put another one for a couple days at the end. and if you are reading this you have reached the signature without noticing. |

I told it manytimes and write it again - which is bad on haviving minimal 2/3 qued independed from training time ? (even if only these two skills will take 150 days to train).
I know, current system is great improvment from system before, but again, who says it cant be improved current system more ? ------------------------------------------------

While things can always be improved or added onto, doing so isn't always necessary. It's working perfectly right now if you use the queue properly, anything else, while nice, is unneeded. ---

Because EVE is not only about training, but also about social interaction. CCP wants you to get online, as they understand the possible detrimental effect of everyone training skills and no one getting online.

You (and CCP) don't get it. Or, perhaps in a less troll-like manner: I beg to differ.
If I want to play EVE, I log on and play EVE. Period.
'Forcing' (and yes, I know, realize and appreciate that the queue alleviated this problem to a very big part of its extend) me to log on and change a skills / add something to the queue does not constitute playing EVE, yet I do so at least once a week, usually because I'm going off to work (so I don't even have time to play properly) and some prereq just completed, or my queue was 1d 1h 20m long at 'way past bedtime' AM.
Skill training <> playing EVE. The part about skill training that everyone is so lyrical about, the fact you skill up without having to grind something or actively do something or other over and over again, is the precise thing that decouples it from 'playing EVE' proper (as there is nothing you can do while playing EVE to skill faster), so why make up some BS 'thou shalt play the game!'-rule to impose restrictions on?

You have a good point there.
Still, if you are "forced" to get online once in a while, there is a bigger chance you get active again ( if you were inactive apart from changing skills ) than when you are not "forced" to get online.
So I find the 24 hour queue more than enough.
When SWG "forced" me to get back online to move my character to another server, I actively played the game again for a bit ( to see how things have evolved ).
Same happened when DAoC "forced" me to get back online to move our guild to the final merged cluster.

I actually thought the same, that ccp is clueless and that skills won't make me play more. I stand corrected since year ago when I've notices that about 40% of time when i login to "just change skills" I've stayed online for more because something was going on (most of the rest was only when i was in real RL rush)
