If they were smart they would already be mining in some quiet low sec or 0.0. They would then instantly know if there was a threat by keeping an eye on local. But they want to afk mine/macro etc to the greatest extent possible.

There was a wonderful quote in one of the HAG2 threads...
"If I wanted to watch local and constantly check d-scan I'd move to 0.0 and make 10x the isk!"
They willingly give up considerably higher returns so they can walk away from the keyboard.
So miners want to be completely safe while doing something else in rl? May I suggest a mining bs?
Cause mining battleships are completely invulnerable?

Nah. They would just keep mining hisec with lower returns.
The hassle and risk you get in losec are not equalized with a measly +10% in refined minerals.

Hi my name is swalesey and I am a recovering miner. I have been dry for 1 year.
Before that me and my trusty alt mined in low sec for about 14 months. We made a crap load of isk whilst all these lot were getting can flipped and suicide ganked. I would take two hulks out, mine about 6 jet cans, then alt would begin hauling and I would continue mining. Cept where high sec people were mining tiny veldspar roids mine were 140k dense ones. coupled with fiery kernite and the like.
Low sec is EMPTY. Find a system that is not a high sec link and there is very much chance you will mine for days without realy seeing anyone.
We used to dock when a neutral entered system and go out shooting them. Then I realised the shooting them bit was more fun than the mining bit, go figgure. I learned to use a directional scanner and to align and do all that stuff that is realy simple to do, that no one seems ot want to do.
TL;DR Stop been lame. mine properly.
