Edited by: FreakBoy on 24/11/2004 03:48:19 This is basically a resumption of my last Alliance Site thread. I was unable to update the site for a while due to RL and decided to start a new thread to tell people about it.
Explorer Corps Alliance Database
I started this site because alot of people, mostly newbies, that really didnt know who these "Alliances" were that had absolute control of 0.0 space. Many of the 'facts' they had were ether exaggerations or completely erronious.
Each major 0.0 Alliance has their own section, listing everything form their form of government, the ore in their regions, traditional allies and enemies, and their military state. I have tried to be as accurate and unbiased as possible, but incase I have made a mistake there is a contact form there.
The site should work in the Exodus IGB and I tried to make it as compact as possible. I did run into issues with the imagemap but it is on the list of supported tags, so I'm waiting to see if its a bug or not.
In the modest time that I have been running the site I have gotten a few repeat questions that I think would be good to post here.
Q:
Quote: Your site lists Alliance A as weak militarily weak. This is not true! We have won major victories against Alliance B.
A:
Quote: The relative military strength or weakness of any particular alliance is based on that alliances long term sucess (thus preventing a temporary advantage such as a enemy PVP corp taking the week off to mine for replacement ships) and any 'hard' data that can be collected (ie who owns the POS stations during peak times, do they change hands more often than their neighbors, how many starbases are destroyed over a period of time, ect)
Q:
Quote: A, B, and C seem to be based off of forum propoganda, why dont you get a more reliable source of information?
A:
Quote: Virtually none of my information is gathered from the forums directly. Most is gathered from conversations with alliance officials or from personal research. The information in the forums is very often twisted and distorted to fit the needs of the particular corp making the post. Alliance A may say that Alliance B has lost a war and spends all their time sitting in safespots, but I may find through my contacts/personal experiance that the war is still very much alive. I try to get around this by getting all sides and going directly to the source where possible.
I'll add more to this if I need to -----------------

Why would anyone possibly want to create a super alliance in th North that supported its economy and military equally and was not a disguised dictatorship. I mean bah the idea is just silly to get all the western alliance under one banner.

One note though... on the site it says PA battleships lost: 208.
BoB alone has listed ~500 PA battleships on the killboard.
So if it is included in a public alliance info page, there should be a big disclaimer.
This goes for all killboards ofcourse, but one killboard is more accurate than the other. |

You mean like the big disclaimer on the bottom of our killboard hehe?
The -really big- difference on the losses comes from the fact that many ppl didn`t keep their old loss killmails until the killboard was up (but ofcourse everyone kept his kills lol)
And I admit bob`s board is -usualy- more accurate, even more now that you include roughnecks etc.
Anyway as it has been said before, until ccp makes it different which I doubt it, the only way to get accurate stats is to compare the kills from opposing groups

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions, either by posting here, on my forums, or through the contact page.
Yes, the information is incomplete at times because I feel strongly that no information is better than false information. If any of you would like to submit data to fill in the gaps I would be more than grateful.
If you feel anything is innacurate please please use the contact page to tell me.
A sticky for this would be nice, IMO, but thats up to the mods.

[bump...sticky/more comments?]
More information updated.
As far as the formalization of Alliances, currently I am only adding information about Alliances with 0.0 controlled areas. When that is taken care of I might add the empire alliances that bother to shell out the one billion isk.
Again comments are appreciated. -----------------

Edited by: FreakBoy on 03/12/2004 01:28:46 Anyone know anything about the 3rd Front Alliance?
Also, Id like to know if people think the empire alliances should be added since they are now on the official exodus list.
Site layout change btw, so it works pretty much now in the IGB (keeping in mind how buggy the IGB is) -----------------

Edited by: Amataras on 03/12/2004 01:58:36 The "government" section of the database for each Alliance seems a bit weak. There could potentially be a whole lot more information, analysis and explanation since its a very comprehensive subject.
I could probably write a few hundred words on each Alliance's governmental structures for you if i was given the proper information -------------- The Eve Diplomacy Table

But if you take that into account when doing them then I see no problem.

Actually Ive sent evemails to several higher up bob people early on and even posted a couple of times (either in this one or the earlier thread) that I would really like some info on Bob
Since I am not currently spending very much time anywhere near BoB space and dont know anyone in the area, either BoB or PA (though i wouldnt use a PA contact for BoB info)
Thus I have chosen to not post anything than the rather weak and distorted info that i DO have.
I'll be honest and say while I have gathered some info on BoB so much of it comes from the forums that I am hesitant to even begin using it because of the usual forum propoganda and distortion that everyone sees these days.
Ive always taken the stance that no or skimpy info is better than total bulls*** that I cant back up. -----------------

I update when I get information and can even remotely pretend to verify it.
Also, my time for the past week or so has been limited due to final exams, somethign that I cannot really avoid.
Facts are put in as I get them, point in case is NORAD where I was able to add a fairly extensive history section because someone there had the knowlage and the time to write it up.
In a related subject does anyone know where I can get info on BoB? -----------------

I update when I get information and can even remotely pretend to verify it.
Also, my time for the past week or so has been limited due to final exams, somethign that I cannot really avoid.
Facts are put in as I get them, point in case is NORAD where I was able to add a fairly extensive history section because someone there had the knowlage and the time to write it up.
In a related subject does anyone know where I can get info on BoB? -----------------

For those who, like me, had no freakin' clue to who 3rd Front Alliance was when the name showed up when Exodus hit, this should satisfy your curiousity.

Your maps are already outdated
Check Quarath's latest link in his usual stickey. You migth notice some differences within the north of the map, which also more or less invalidates some info on your page about PA.
Verification possible with just about anyopne but PA, since they seem to be in denial about the whole thing. Originally by: Aneu Angellus Iv held back from posting on this thread for quite some time, but i think the time had come for me to come in and post.

Indeed
My main lives in the south of EVE so I dont hear that much from the north.
The pages have been updated with the new maps and Fade has been put into the dead/inactive catagory.
More info on what BoB has been up to would be appreciated.
As a matter of fact any info on BoB or a BoB contact would be appreciated. -----------------
