Edited by: FreakBoy on 24/11/2004 03:48:19 This is basically a resumption of my last Alliance Site thread. I was unable to update the site for a while due to RL and decided to start a new thread to tell people about it.
Explorer Corps Alliance Database
I started this site because alot of people, mostly newbies, that really didnt know who these "Alliances" were that had absolute control of 0.0 space. Many of the 'facts' they had were ether exaggerations or completely erronious.
Each major 0.0 Alliance has their own section, listing everything form their form of government, the ore in their regions, traditional allies and enemies, and their military state. I have tried to be as accurate and unbiased as possible, but incase I have made a mistake there is a contact form there.
The site should work in the Exodus IGB and I tried to make it as compact as possible. I did run into issues with the imagemap but it is on the list of supported tags, so I'm waiting to see if its a bug or not.
In the modest time that I have been running the site I have gotten a few repeat questions that I think would be good to post here.
Q:
Quote: Your site lists Alliance A as weak militarily weak. This is not true! We have won major victories against Alliance B.
A:
Quote: The relative military strength or weakness of any particular alliance is based on that alliances long term sucess (thus preventing a temporary advantage such as a enemy PVP corp taking the week off to mine for replacement ships) and any 'hard' data that can be collected (ie who owns the POS stations during peak times, do they change hands more often than their neighbors, how many starbases are destroyed over a period of time, ect)
Q:
Quote: A, B, and C seem to be based off of forum propoganda, why dont you get a more reliable source of information?
A:
Quote: Virtually none of my information is gathered from the forums directly. Most is gathered from conversations with alliance officials or from personal research. The information in the forums is very often twisted and distorted to fit the needs of the particular corp making the post. Alliance A may say that Alliance B has lost a war and spends all their time sitting in safespots, but I may find through my contacts/personal experiance that the war is still very much alive. I try to get around this by getting all sides and going directly to the source where possible.
I'll add more to this if I need to -----------------

I remember when I told notferr he should merge CoD with Unicor. Then suggested Fade merge with that new alliance. Well half of it worked --

Why would anyone possibly want to create a super alliance in th North that supported its economy and military equally and was not a disguised dictatorship. I mean bah the idea is just silly to get all the western alliance under one banner.
Please stop being a third rate flamer,I am tired of reactivating my account just to kick your ass. |

CFS is long gone Max you should know that, DSMA are the only ones left, buggering in corners until their opponents drop in numbers and they occasionally come out to play for an hour. ___________________________ Chicks dig Brutor's |

One note though... on the site it says PA battleships lost: 208.
BoB alone has listed ~500 PA battleships on the killboard.
So if it is included in a public alliance info page, there should be a big disclaimer.
This goes for all killboards ofcourse, but one killboard is more accurate than the other. |

You mean like the big disclaimer on the bottom of our killboard hehe?
The -really big- difference on the losses comes from the fact that many ppl didn`t keep their old loss killmails until the killboard was up (but ofcourse everyone kept his kills lol)
And I admit bob`s board is -usualy- more accurate, even more now that you include roughnecks etc.
Anyway as it has been said before, until ccp makes it different which I doubt it, the only way to get accurate stats is to compare the kills from opposing groups

Grats, nice job FreakBoy
Despite some info being incomplete and might need minor changes, I see this as a community resource - deserves a sticky IMO (and maybe a lock, to stop the smack )
