I'm sure a lot of you out there are in an alliance/corp that might be large maybe even medium or small. I'm sure you all have a "circle" of friends with in your corp/alliance that you talk more often to and feel closer to. My circle of 15 friends in the last year has dwindled down to 3 including myself. I have also noticed an increasing amount of people writing corp/alliance mails saying they are "taking breaks" or all together quiting mainly because they are bored.
Ive talked to some friends from other corps and they are telling me THEY are also not re-subbing (because they are bored) and they have a lot of inactive people in their corps and a lot of people leaving.
I'm posting this to see if this is just me seeing this or do you also see a lot of people un-subbing accounts or just logging in to change skills and being in active? Ive decided to un sub mine as i rarely undock any more since the game i enjoyed to play 1 year ago has changed so much (in my opinion for the worst) and i'm bored. But im curious to see if the people i don't know if this game also have friends that are leaving in mass numbers as my friends have.
Thanks for any response's. Go ahead troll me for having no internet friends lol

Also, I can understand your point, but its not hard to just move on to a new corp and get new frinds. Belive it or not, there are some pretty cool dude playing EVE. While your circle of friends is dying at the same time there are new circles are laying in their foundation and flourishing. Just go and find yourself a new group of people with fresh goals and a drive to play. Of course you will be bored if you stick around with people who can't come up with anything else to do, who are all quitting and have else nothing to say about EVE except how much it bores them.

I'll say 1 thing, in the 6 months since starting this game I've heard the words "because I'm board" more times than the 38 years previous to playing it. All the 2 to 5 year players I know log in more for the chat channels that blearily work than for anything else. I'm still 12m sp away from meeting the minimum requirement for any of the worthwhile 0.0 alliances and although I have not become totally board to death with the game yet I can see how that can happen.
The whole "its a sandbox, players are required to make their own content to make up for the total lack of content" seems like just an excuse to me for defending lazy devs.
Ok, so who wants to wander aimlessly through low sec to find fights that lack any challenge and maybe become the victim of someone else's lack of challenge with me.... again... year after year....

I agree with you. This sandbox game requires motivation and have a zero atm. I need more instant gratification and not this long, dragged out drama fights that end with grief and lag bombs. Eve needs to be more like bf2, CoD, fps game.
I have friends irl so I don't really consider Eve to be a social game, for the rest of you keep using Eve as your social fix. If CCP catered to solo players more I would be playing Eve more often and not just switching skills.
Eve is not dying. No you can't have my stuff.

I'm not going to tell CCP how to run their game, what I will say is to have fun in EVE you must have a goal. A long term plan. Flying around aimlessly hooked on pixel flash will gets old fast.
Maybe I'm too old to understand, but when I was young me and my friends use to build forts in the bush, only had a B/W one channel TV, other kids would do the same. After we raid their forts and they would try to raid ours, pitch battles with rocks and rubber hoses would ensue, forts were lost, black eyes from fist fights. Fun while it lasted.
Eve is the same time 0.0 sec space is the bush getting there should be the goal, don't spand all your time yanking your monkey in low sec.

Edited by: Hyperforce99 on 25/01/2010 23:13:17 Initially when I started eve everything was new which keeps it interesting, and things really got going when me and some others set up one of the first generation low sec POSs. Over time however support in the corp for these POSs dwindled as they moved to 0.0 Eventually things fell apart and I moved on to greener pastures.
Now I've got quite an old character and most of my skills have reached their mark. But I don't have the time to play that much, leaving me short on ISK and low on interesting ventures to actively pursue.
One thing that I've noticed over the years, is that eve can only stay interesting if you can afford playing it for extended periods with other people who are spending the same amount of time as you do. Be it casual miners/mission ground or hardcore alliance warfare.
So if the people you hang out with are starting to dwindle then maybe you should find some new people to hang out with. Its not hard to meet new people, the hardest part is to invest the time. --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |

That's the flaw of Eve online is that you have to depend on other people to have fun. And the fact is most people suck, so that usually makes your gaming experience suck.
Now if Eve catered to solo play more you wouldn't have to depend on raging emo nerds to have a good time. I play games to have fun not to participate in a soap opera.

Uggg, I'm sorry but this stupid PCU is only useful for gloating and all the advertising executives.
Everyone always (at least in the back of their mind) ends up translating the PCU to physical bodies. You have to take alts into account.
Just saying there's 300k registered accounts means squat to me. My first corp had 65 ppl on the roster with 55 inactive. Extrapolate that across however many corps there are and the number is huge. This is why I also ignore the ttl accounts number.
First, knock off a nice round 1,000 for all the alts from 300+ CCP employees - both legit and not. Then, let's say the average is x2 (maybe even x1.5) chars per RL body and you got what...maybe 25,000-ish individual ppl online during these record breaking peaks?
Sure, it's nice to say 58k are online right now, but with most being idle alts, what's the point? To brag.

every eve player has 6 alts so 300k / 6 = 50k - half inactive = 25k - 2k ccp characters = 23k active accounts a month = 300k monthly income between 300 ccp employers = 1k monthly income for each employee lols

I think the main probleme of EVE is lack of qualitative PVP. It usually takes hours to find someone to fight with and you have no guarantee that you would spend whole evening in EVE and have a good fight. More over fights are usually held between unequal gangs- Blobs are the key to victory/

If you have more than one Eve account, I think it's pretty safe to say that those players are enjoying Eve amirite? At least enough to justify the extra cost/grind for PLEX.
If you don't like Eve, that's fine. Just shut up and leave. It doesn't mean anyone else is. also, don't you hate those people that trick you into thinking their signature is part of their post? |

Heya Get Paid,
Nothing wrong with taking a break from the game. There are more than a few other mmorpgs out there worth your time. When you come back as I did, you'll find more than enough changes that will make the game feel fresh and exciting again. Hopefully. :)
Maybe you and your friends can decide on another game to meet up in.
Make sure your hangars are in order before you head planetside so that everything will be waiting for you upon your return.
Safe travels.

I'm in a 0.0 corporation that pvps in small gangs and does not hold space. I log on, takes about 20-30 minutes to assemble a gang, then we go out and find a fight. If nobody is up to it I go out alone and find a fight. If you are roaming lowsec for hours without finding targets, well, get a clue and go try out some other places, wormholes, Red vs Blue, Providence, join a 0.0 small gang corp like I have.
The problem, gents, is that you are sitting around your lazy asses waiting for action to happen. Probably same thing you do in real life (that's why you play all these games, isn't it? you're bored irl). Solution is making stuff happen. EVE is not a game for people who wait for stuff to happen, it is a game for those who take charge.

Playing since 06 i have seen alot of people come and go, tbqh it is the nature of any activity gaming or RL. I dont play for extended hours like I did in the past because of life changes. Eve for me at least is a great way to blow off steam, relax and explore random thoughts about the game. I have Seen people ragequit, emoquit and just give up because the game does not go the way they want it to. I dont give up because things dont go my way, i overcome and figure it out. if you fall into the waaa it wont let me win trap it will follow you everywhere you go... in every game... in every way... into RL as well..
