Also, chalk your losing Delve up to a cultural victory for IT and company as your management decided Eve wasn't worth playing and bailed on you when you needed them .Instead of spawning a Haargoth you spawned a guy who just stopped caring and didn't trust his most senior members...close enough to the same thing.
In paragraph one, you accuse of "we are terrible" propaganda. In paragraph two, you accuse us of being terrible.

No, not really. Terrible players wouldn't be able to spam stations and supercaps. You say you are terrible to mask any failings or to make yourselves feel better when you fail as well as to have a comedy option when you win. I say you had morale issues in your leadership , which was even greater than the problem that occured in BoB mk 1. |

The thing I find interesting about this whole affair is the level of chest beating. Just looking at the prologue of IT's invasion of Fountain, there were constant Goonswarm references to BoB's humiliating defeat in losing Delve and Querious, its inability to hold space, and that it would never be a major power in EVE again. All those Bobbites were all washed up and bitter with no lives or lulz, they implied. So, for months the rhetoric has essentially been, "You're stupid and lost your space! Haha!! Just try to remove us..."
And now all of a sudden they're the ones being removed, and it's because they themselves were stupid. And the most interesting thing is that they're strutting this around like it's a good thing after all this time they spent bloviating about how old BoB/IT was washed up, incompetent, had fail-corps in it, and so on and so forth.
What's happening is a serious case of Doublethink. Goonswarm was more than willing to believe that it was the top dog so long as they were entrenched in Delve/Querious and could keep IT out. It's not like they were doing a bad job at that either. But now they were idiots, and all of a sudden "Oh...we're such failures at the game. We don't know what we're doing...we're glad we lost to a mechanical flaw rather than your fleets blablabla..."
It's a defense mechanism. They're downplaying the loss to make themselves feel better for such monumental incompetence as to not pay their bills, all while they continue to mock IT and Molle out of some desire to see them throw a mad hissy fit because Internet Spaceships is SERIOUS BUSINESS.
Well, that's too bad. All of EVE is laughing at Goonswarm (or with them if they happen to find it amusing themselves) regardless of how they try to spin their internal thoughts on the matter. What really matters, I suppose, is that their alliance wasn't able to maintain its hold on Delve any more than BoB was, which bodes ill for the arrogant, chest beating, insulting and annoying image that the forum warriors built for them.

Well quite. It's a very simple case of Damage Control. In such a situation you have two options:
1) Panic and watch your membership slide away en masse.
2) Act like nothing happened and hope that only a few dramaqueens disappear in an emoragequit.

You have to remember that we've described ourselves as terrible at this game for the entire length of time that goonfleet has existed. Remember that time Remedial stole our titan fund? We laughed and said we were horrible at this game then, too.
After we took delve, I basically stopped playing because things were boring; however, I am truly pleased that if we were going to lose delve, it's because it's just another instance in which we are legitimately horrible at this game. I think it's funny, and it's what I expect and like about goons. I'm not an official voice of anything, but this is hardly a defense mechanism or some sort of spin. It's just ****ing funny.

.....wow...that was nice..
Originally by: BW Subculture of Goonswarm is ideally displays environment organized in a flock of evil. Vice, erected in cult. And the fact that this vice has been defeated. And defeated with enormous effort on the road to which was the despair and frustration and defeat. This, for me, at least, signal that the world is not as bad as it seems.
And those who say that the victory was the result of chance, I will answer only one - of these "accidents" and consists history. And the course of history does not send events, but people who are hungry for victory, people with iron will.
Briefly about the causes of the fall. The formal reason - unpaid bill. But what is behind this? Two things: paranoia and disorganization. Very nice that an alliance whose landmark victory occurred thanks to bribery and treason was the victim of distrust to their own directors. There were many cries about "It's just the game" However, in practice, in this "just play" in "fun dudes" alliance : in general, no one doesn't trust anyone.
Beautiful!
Disorganization - their essence. They are not able to build - only to destroy. All of their achievements lay in the fact that they joined the major coalitions. Skillfully urged allies to do things beneficial to them, floated on the waves. But they found themselves unable to even minimal organization at a critical moment.
Just Epic!...

I don't dispute that claim, since I haven't really been around for that long anyway. However, when it comes to the way Goons have carried themselves on the forums and in the game, I'm not really impressed with the sudden turn around in rhetoric. Not that that matters, since that's only my personal opinion.

And no, I'm not mad, edgy, serious, or unique. But I am right. And it took far less effort for me to write this than it could possibly take for either of you to invest so much time and energy into the worthless endeavor that is your public image. More on topic, I think this whole situation is hilarious: winning eve was nice, but the aftermath was quite boring. I can't think of a better way to deprive our opponents of a worthwhile victory than to achieve through incompetence what they had failed to accomplish on their own.

Are you saying it's not? Seriously? In a game of internet spaceships. It's just another line in a history full of hilarious welps and mistakes. Don't get me wrong, there are people who are furious about this. Horrible pubbies writing terrible posts and quitting, and that is hilarious too.
In the end, it's still playing internet spaceships. The people who are happy with the internet spaceships experience stay, and the people who are unhappy leave. An interesting metric regarding this is how many people who leave: A metric I like to call the 'J4G Pubbie index'. The people who have already left the guild weren't goons and the more unhappy they are, the more hilarious it becomes.
Goons will always play internet spaceships - whether we're the big serious hurf blurf internet spaceship empire (Goonfleet) or our likable (but somewhat ******ed) little brothers (Groon) who live in Syndicate, but if we weren't having fun doing what we were doing we wouldn't exist. It's as simple as that.
Will we own space in the future? I'm sure we won't be allowed to build up in 0.0, I've heard it somewhere. If we do, people who don't want to be tied down will run black ops or mission or rat in Delve or just do whatever they like. If we don't, people who desperately want to own space land will move to another alliance. They certainly won't sit down and weep over the tragic collapse of our once mighty internet spaceship empire.
Even if I did pull hellof chicks by telling them I could rat in Delve.

Yes and no. IT focused on capturing two systems on the first night: NOL and J-L (I wonder why ) and that let a lot of people evac their asses from their home stations. Because most of us had homes outside of NOL and J-L we have a large number of people with jump clones to those stations, and we're managing to get a lot of expensive personal assets out.
Sure, a lot of people had a lot of tough decisions to make (Especially if they didn't listen to the directorate saying 'Move your stuff out of NOL'): Do I save my stack of DC II's or my Golem, but when it comes down to it Goons help Goons and the reason IT were lucky enough to get a JF kill and a few freighter kills in the first 24 hours is because we were throwing them around like ******s getting friends assets out.
