my log in screen is a black empty box with one line of text that has all the text overlaying itself -
is it just me?
Sep 2004 ATI drivers, worked smooth previously
It's a Dog eat Dog World out there and I'm wearing Milky Bone underwear

Edited by: Al Sutton on 24/11/2004 09:40:08 You're lucky you get the login screen. I get the licence screen and when I scroll down all the text overwrites the previous page, and the button at the bottom is empty.
This is on a Gefroce FX 5700 with 256MB of RAM the Windows Certified driver. All of which worked like a dream on before the "upgrade".
I raised this with CCP last night (about 19:00GMT), and I'm STILL waiting for a response.
(And now I've found out I can't use smilies in a post due to "errors on the page" reported by IE!!!!)

Al Sutton, whatever your problem is, it isn't directly related to your video card I would imagine... seeing as how I also have a fx5700 with 256mb and it is working great, have even logged into the test server a couple times already.
So if you have the newest Direct X version, and newest drivers, then your problem is probably coming from elsewhere.
(btw, don't forget many card manufactures automatically overclock the cards, so might check those settings first if you are having unique problems)

Borked EULA and login screens can be fixed by setting compatibility property to windows 98/ME (just right click eve.exe properties->compatibility)

Erloas, Thanks for letting me know that the system works with a FX570.
The problem I have is that this is a working system, it worked with eve prior to Exodus, and was patched using the patch supplied by CCP, using the procedure supplied by eve.
I'll claim a refund before mess around with my hardware. If CCP's patch stopped me from playing eve by suddendenly making my configuration unusable because I'm not going to mess with my hardware to accomodate one piece of software.

i found when i first got eve, that i had the same problems, i was using ATI allinwonder, it didn't have T&L (transfer and lighting) enabled, you prolly have done allready, but check your settings, as some updates turn certain components off when updating, its so they have less chance of becoming corrupted i think..
hope this helps..

Apparently this is a good workaround, I was also having problems with my log in screen couldn't see even 1 word, there must be some kind of compatability problem with Windows XP, I cam here tried changing the properties, compatability Windows 98/ME and now it works great!

rightclick the eve shortcut on your desktop, select properties, in the properties window the thrid (or so) tab should be labled compatibility, select that. check the run in comp mode box and select win 98 or 95 from the drop down menu. click on apply, close the properties window, and you are done. - Blood washes, fire cleanses. |

Still no joy.......I have one bit of info that might make it different from your fix though. I am running W2K, should I be able to get the same tab options in properties on the eve.exe?
