the thing is, people are just looking at what an individual word means and start crying about it rather than looking at the context of the entire scentence/paragraph/article/whatever. the simple fact is when some one glances at a sentence and sees "jew" "jewing" etc, they instantly know it's about making isk where as just isk alone has a multitude of meanings. when you're in the game, nobody gives a toss if you're as white as milk, as black as the ace of spades, or pray in the direction of mecca 5 times a day, people just don't care about that. hence it leaves these kind of words free to use in a totally different context. the simple thing is, the use of the word/phrase in this context allows people to convey more information in a more efficient way. that in itself really isn't a need to start crying.
infact, a few months ago my friend said to me "ever since i started working i've been really jewish with my money" i instantly knew he'd been spending less and saving more and it was faster for him to say that because it just conveyed more information to me without him explaining his entire financial situation to me.
then again i'm just bitter and think all religion should be banned because it's ******* moronic, but there we go. |

So why do you need the racial/religious stereo type? They could just as easily be called isk hoarders without the racial slur being involved.
There are an awful lot of racial slurs which by there nature pick on one race or religion or for that mater the disabled. Everyone else may think there funny even members of the community being made fun of but some people will be offended and frankly the need to use racial/religious/disabled slurs does not really add anything, it detracts from any appearance of intelligence in an argument.
Also adding to this the servers location in England requires the use of English law to govern slurs of this nature.
So enough with the racial/religious/disabled slurs they are a stain on this great game.

The word "jew" is not inherently a slur, and it certainly has absolutely nothing to do with a race, unless you're going to sit here and claim that jews are a special race.

Racial slurs are exactly that, racial slurs. Using the words "racial slurs" about slurs against ethnicity or whether or not someone's disabled is literally abusing the **** out of the words "racial slurs" and it degrades the use of those word to the point of pointlessness. Call a spade for a spade, call it ethnic slurs when it is actually ethnic slurs.
And by that measure, don't call it ethnic slurs just because someone uses A Word. The word "jew" does not automatically connotate any negativity or hostility. If a friend of mine made bank and, say, doubled their earnings, and I call them "such a complete jew", that does not mean I'm giving him an ethnic slur, because I'm putting absolutely no hostility, vitriolity or negativity in any way, shape or form, behind that statement. If, however, I went up to someone and said "**** off you ******* jew, go back to israel", then that would be an ethnic slur. Only overly PC people see ethnic/racial/etc slurs when there are none.
It's like if I were to call a friend of mine a complete nerd because he to do managed something very nerdy, and you would go all redfaced and go "STOP IT WITH THE RACIAL SLURS!!!!!!". It's wrong, it devalues those who actually try to combat actual racial/ethnic/etc slurs, and if someone were to rag on me or calling my friend a complete nerd, because nerd is derogatory to people without social skills (or whatever the justification of the hour would be), then I would literally verbally tear him a new ******* and tell him to **** off back behind the politically correct rock he came up from under, because, again, words does not add vitriolity/hostility/negativity to the situation, only actual intent and context will.

Ok, here is what I will say about the use of 'Jewgold', Jewing' and other terms of that nature. They don't add anything of value to a discussion. The very terminology is offensive to many and completely unnecessary. There are many of our players who are Jewish and they should not be subjected to phrasing which makes them and others feel uncomfortable.
