Edited by: Sarida Han on 28/01/2010 03:52:22 So the sludge, screamos and the progressive rock guys have their own threads. I thought why not have one for those of us who like listening to trance or industrial music.
If you found a good piece recently, post the link here and share it with the rest of us.

EBM is my kind of music, but I wouldn't want to put it into the same category as trance. that would be like... putting country and rock in the same box.
Sturm CafT a great EBm band from my hometown.

this. maybe i'm getting old... but this stuff is still the best...
...and if it has to be 'newer' stuff i'd recommend winterkSlte, converter, imminent starvation, mono no aware, m$.gentur - but that stuff might be to harsh for the house people. ;) (if not... try massone or merzbow )

Hey, if we are pushing into harsh territory then MZ412, Brighter Death Now, Deutsch Nepal, Hypnoskull, Venetian Snares?
Also, If you like Aborym (the black industrial metal band), you'll love Alien Vampires. Its a bit more dance/party compatible than the harsh stuff, but hey, we are the pacman generation, are we not?

Question, wtf is EBM?
Originally by: Grez Edited by: Grez on 04/02/2010 15:25:07 BT, seeing as he pretty much invented the Trance we know today.
And for that he should be shot at dawn for a week, though to be fair I blame ecstasy for artists losing the art of trance and forgetting to put more than one emotion in to a tune. Fortunately bands like shpongle are here to save us. (That's not a dig, just a viewpoint expressed in a Scottish manner )
Originally by: my music rant, feel free to ignore
Saying that anyone invented trance is silly because before BT released his 1st single the shamen were laying the foundations of Ibiza clubbing while the nutters at noom records were making good use of a Japanese mistake.
If anything invented trance music it was the poor quality control at roland corp. They allowed a drum machine designed to be an "accompaniment for pub musicians" to create electronic screaming noises with a beat behind it, in that moment acid house was born.
The BT/Tong/Sasha flanged korg sound came later, about the same time as automated parametric equalizers became more available to home music producers, it is almost impossible to separate the art from the engineering.
Links:
Dirty guitar with a good beat (EBM?): Death In Vegas Apollo 440, also available in funky techno and as eves' favorite rokh music.
Trance Links: Eat Static, formed by members of the Ozric Tentacles Afro Celt Soundsystem It's bagpipes Jim but not as you know them.
French link: Daft Punk it's daft punk, what more can you say?
