This post is both a warning to others, and a desperate attempt to contact the devs, as the PETITION system seems to be bugged atm.
I just logged into Exodus.
Launched my Apoc to go hunting in the new environment
I found a fairly easy Beastlord + 2 Cannibals spawn, and moved my APOC in for the kill.
I set my guns going, and set my 3 hardeners and 1 of my 2 L (named) repairers going to, just for overkill.
then I try to launch drones to take out the Cannibals and I lag out, completely
THEN (and this is the bit that smarts) I see that Exodus has switched all my low slot repairers and hardeners to manual restart (ie, switched off autorepeat) I try to to restart them.. nothing... at this time I still have over half shield and the beastlord is fairly seriously damaged...
then as neither of us can seemingly damage each other his shield regenerates quite alot... and I just float there, unable to do anyhting... this goes on for several minutes....
Then suddently I have half armour damage.... and the Bestlord is dead... but I cant do anything still...
Then all my drones launch, and sit there about 3000 metres from the 2 cannibals attacking me, but all 8 of them do nothing...
Several minutes more pass....
then suddenly I am in struct...
Then I am in a pod
I manage to warp away (nearly a minute later)
I dock, try to petition, and the petition process is not working
Can someone from CCP contact me?

I feel for you, I really do. I also hope that the gm's refund your ship (however with the current workload they have i seriously doubt it will happen any time soon)
I would recomend against using expensive ships to do anything till the lag has cleared up (I havent even managed to log in yet, but talks with ppl on irc indicate its pretty bad atm)
Still, good job CCP..you got it out more or less on time.

He who values his possesions does not whip out expensive stuff right after a big patch, or any patch, and venture into dangerous situations. That is asking for it.
Too bad about the apoc, but you should have known better.

I'm not even gonna touch my mega for at least a week. Quite frankly it was silly of you to take it hunting soon after a big expansion and doing it just after the server got up is just stupid. Well you live and learn and won't do the same mistake in Kali

chakka, did it never occur to you that risking any ship when thousands of people are downloading patches for eve's server or trying to log on is perhaps a bit silly?
its amazing how many people wander out on patch day with their most expensive ships and end up crying about them later...don't do it! its not worth the extra 12 hours of play! wait till everything calms down, and dont whine if you decide to risk your ship!

I have never experienced the game on a big patch day before, so I did not know that the game would be unplayable.
I did have trouble logging in, but as far as I knew, that was it. I experienced no warp lag or module lag at all until mid fight...
NOW I know... but its a bit late isnt it...
Half the reason I posted here was to warn others not to do what I did

but....until you are an "newbie" you should have expected that before going to hunt..
however, i would try to petition that, i hope they'll give you back your ship.
Don't ask "can i have your stuff" because i'll give it to everybody else than you! |

Always check your modules when leaving the station. Auto repeat does disapear on occasion. Usually when you don't want it to.

did no one in ur corp tell u never to do anything dangerous on patch day? any patch day? let alone expansion day. Give it atleast a day, maybe 2 as this is a big upgrade
oh, and u prolly wont get ya ship back. Lag outs are unprovable and the GM's will prolly say its client side
