lmao
Seriously though, give this guy a break. Sure it's common sense to most of us not to do anything much within 24 hrs of a major patch, but not obvious to everyone- CCP only advise 'long training' remember.
Will swallow for ISK |

I hesitate to be hyper-critical but you really should not have gone NPC hunting on patch day regardless of the fact it all seemingly went so smoothly.
After almost all patches with Eve the server has taken a bit of time to settle down and most players know not to risk anything like NPC hunting in a BS.
Official downtime was 24hrs but players should play it safe for probably 48-72hrs.

Sheesh people - no need to beat on the dead horse - he gets it already. All of the rest of you making redundant "don't play on patch day <insert derogatory adjective here>" posts are just the type of people who get off on making someone else feel bad, yet is too cowardly to do so unless its a "kick him when its down situation". |

I don't get off on it. If someone is that stupid and then stupid enough to cry about how stupid he/she is to others, I'll kick'em every time. That's the only way they will learn to not be stupid.. well, stupid is a genetic thing and can't really be helped..... |

My intention was not to kick him while he was down.
I consider his thread to be very useful.
1. He gives people who don't know about patch days a good warning. 2. He uses the most common shared intrest to get his point across, their pocketbook. 3. He gets their attention with an over the top example, losing a battleship. 4. He targets the audience most likey to make a similar mistake, noobs in battleships. 5. He gave a good breakdown of events and mentioned that there were no previous warning signs, keeping others from being tricked by a similar false sense of security. 6. He points out that there is a good chance that he will not be re-imbursed. This provides incentive for the readers to avoid making a similar mistake. 7. He did so without whining or threatening to quit. 8. He did not place the blame on CCP, he took responsibility for his action, he was just posting about it.
The people who flamed him for the mistake (for the most part) are just making fun of the error. There is a reason we all know better then to do something like this. Most of us, in some game, at some time, made a similar mistake, though for the most part we made it on a much smaller scale. Thats why people are flaming him in a mild and teasing manner instead of a hatefull and cruel one.
Very few people have actually complained about the creation or content of the post, for the most part we see some value in it's existance. If nothing else then for simple amusement.
My addition to the thread was not meant to make fun of him, though his story did make me snicker.
I was just pointing out that there was more then one good lesson to be learned from his story.
Don't take risks of Patch days. AND Noobs do not belong in Battleships.
I'm sure people can find more.
Anyway, to the original poster: sorry for your loss, you learned a good lesson, thanks for warning others, and take the flames in stride, for the most part they are the friendly ribbing sort.

Play nicely, folks. Let it be a lesson learned and an opportunity to get some information out there. No need to get nasty and force a thread lock.

give the guy some slack please, i just lost a scorpion under conditions i would never have guessed i would loose one, aka on a level 2! mission, somehow every mission i pick that has any fighting in it sends me to deadspace, even simple missions like kill this thief and get the reports back end up now into a gankfast with 6 drones extra.
it's REAL funny to have a simple mission like that turn into one that can destroy a BS simple because instead of the target i expected i end up fighting 6 drones that appear 5k away from me and leave me no other option than to jump out or die. well after waiting 5 minutes to jump out without effect my BS went boom.
p.s. a little WARNING that you can't use mwd's in deadspace would be apppreciated too, it's no fun fighting in a slow ass BS against 600 m/s drones with guns made for 30-40k or longer range.

Hands over a +7 Intelligent implant *===*===*
Do you know what Nemesis means?
A righteous infliction of retribution, manifested by an appropriate agent |
