It's a sad day indeed when I admit I am ashamed to be associated with certain people.
All you uncharitable b****rds need to log off, go outside and think about your sad existence in isolation, then cancel your Eve Accounts and go play WoW or something that matches your limited mentality.
The ability to use VIRTUAL currency to make a difference to REAL LIFE people is a pretty unique thing. You, at the end of the day, lose absolutely nothing; all isk etc is, afterall, the property of CCP.

Just a thought. I good way to maximize the donations is holding a contest or raffel (for lack of a better word). Where whom ever donates the most plexcards recieves a faction / navy ship of their choice pre-fitted with the billion dollar fittings. This would seriously encourage those that either don't care or believe that this situation could happen just as easily in their part of the world. The ones that do care already made the donation. This would maximize the effort.

I donated to the cause already. Via the International Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Two of the four major organizations I donate to. The other two are the American Heart association and the American Cancer society. It's good to see CCP offering donations. Nothing against CCP but I am extreamily cautious with who I dontate too. If you are not familure to me you need to do something to motivate me in to earning my trust. Virtual or not. Money is money.

There was also a mythical implant once rumored to let you train 2 skills at once. If they really wanted to throw out something that would do the trick. Or free skill training boosts. Or physical modifications to character that give them more stat points to work with...
But honestly, it's not about holding a raffle or giving people stuff for donating. It's about giving people the chance to give back through eve if they want to. It's actually about charity...which is incredibly novel. The addition of a raffle or some such might drive a bit more, but giving should be its own reward when someone wants to give.
Makes me feel warm and fuzzy knowing that charitably and capitalism can go so well together in a gaming environment
I get to buy Time Codes and sell them for a to enjoy the game I love to play now that I'm not stuck working holiday overtime. People who already have their accounts settled in game and want to donate toward a worthy cause have the ability to buy those time codes and donate them toward the cause.
No one's being forced to donate anything they don't want to, but the option is there with the company backing the opportunity. It means that people who otherwise couldn't donate, people who want to donate, can.
Works for me.
I find it hard to believe that so many people are trolling the dev blog with gripes about taxes and plex scarcity...

A well-conceived idea from CCP despite all the rather childish pouting about it from certain individuals.
All of us see the news reports and think "Sh*t, glad I'm not there!" but many people don't make the jump from vaguely thinking "it'd be good to do something to help" to actually going off, finding a trustworty aid website and pulling out their credit card.
This way they don't have to. All you've got to do is go in-game, buy a PLEX with isk - ISK fergodsakes! - and send it to the CCP account. No muss, no fuss and CCP send the money to where its needed.
Seriously guys, what kind of people are you? If you've any human decency at all you'll help this initiative. If not then at least show some respect and keep your b*tching to yourselves.

Without that evil admin, they wouldn't get any help. Things don't just magically happen, people have to do boring crappy administrative jobs to get stuff where it goes...Just sayin'
I for one, support CCP in this. It's nice for people that couldn't give real money that wanted to donate somehow. Besides it's just pixels right?

I think thats a great action from CCP my corp donated PLEX when only saw (sry for my bad eng). Because we have seen and read about all these terrible circumstances that have occurred in Haiti. I call still does not turn a blind eye to it and not pass it. For many corporations together to raise money for 1-2 PLEX is not so difficult. CCP thank you for this opportunity to effortlessly help real people who really need it.
