How are people still this childish?

Agony Etain	Posted - 2010.01.29 22:53:00 - [1] What astounds me about EVE is the extremely high % of childish and otherwise Immature players in EVE who are above the age of 18. We've recently had a few thefts in our corp. Being the only Director who is online ever and our CEO hardly being on, I took action, I fairly targetted everyone who had the ability to take what was taken looked at.. Well obviously one person thinks he should get special treatment, gets profoundly ****ed off and spams the corp mail system that he cant believe he's a suspect because some of the stuff taken was his and yada yada, then he goes into how he has cancer and 4 kids... 1 day later another member gets into a small fight on the corp chat with another member (neither are the member mentioned above), and I tell them both to stop being so childish and to just stop. (the fight itself reminded me two elementary school kids having a fight of words) So one of them targets me and starts blaming me for the thefts, saying that by making our corp website, the promotional video and basically running the entire corp was a "perfect cover up story", then again like the other started spamming the corp chat with lies and propoganda of all sorts. Constantly telling me to F off, and making a huge scene. He even went so far as to constantly spam private chats at me and when I'd finally accept it he'd close out and say "he won"..... what?! If thats not bad enough, he started spamming the alliance chat with crap, saying he was being crucified for telling the truth about who stole the items, and needless to say it was a huge mess, all because he couldnt take a simple joke from 1 other member. We are a corp of about 20 members, 5-9 are actually active... Yet we get members like this constantly... is this just bad luck? How do you larger corps deal with this childish behavior?

Cors It's A Trap	Posted - 2010.01.29 23:33:00 - [9] There's a reason CCP setup the API system for corps. You can use it to track ALL assets in your corp. If your members refuse to give API keys for tracking, don't give them access to anything. It's very simple really. If you want to know how to set this up, go to the appropriate forum, and ask the API developers how they set stuff up for their corps.

Why do I keep running into immaturity at every turn? No need to flame me guys this is just a discussion,(though I find it funny that people instantly jump to flaming instead of discussing), not whining, complaining or otherwise, simply saying what I've seen.

The purpose of playing is not to achieve some professional standard but to have fun. Some people have fun trolling. Some people are utterly unable to handle being disrespected (as they see it) such as when you investigated the theft and go emo because they figure they shouldn't need to tolerate such in their leisure time. You should just move on. There are people who take nothing seriously in this game who can be a laugh, there are people who get stuff done while still being pretty light-hearted and there are people who take stuff, especially imagined personal slights, incredibly seriously and are only really fun to play with if you're winding them up.

If the corporate management is inactive, just jump ship. Seriously, from what I hear, there's nothing more that corp can offer you. Here's what you do... take everything you can from the corp hanger, drain its wallets, and bounce. The assets won't be missed, since no one is active anyway.

Of course being in a corp like that means you will not keep or retain decent players. So the corp is in a perpetual state of being crap and as a bonus you get to lose the association with decent players which will damage you personally. So its best to get out and maybe take the level headed players with you. If others don't like that tough luck. Some of the best and most level headed players I have come across were in their teens, age is no indication of maturity. In fact I find adults more likely to bring their real life stresses and problems into a game than younger players.

If you have a body of a 30 y.o. it does not mean same is true of your mind. These people behave professionally in real life because they know there will be consequences otherwise. In game nothing really matters, nothing is for serious, you can really let yourself be as you are without any constraints.
