It came to my notice that LP is divided over corporations. Why???? Why not split them into the four races, and get all LP made in race X together? When I do missions for Corporation X, tied to Race Y, I should get my LP for the Race, not for that one specific corporation. Now I have LP over the entire galaxy, and I can't do sh*t with it... :(
A revamp in this matter would be VERY welcome, imho.
Thoughts anyone? And no flame wars... Thank you.

Edited by: Destination SkillQueue on 30/01/2010 22:04:35 It won't happen because you are always working for the corporation and not the faction. You will get faction bonuses from storylines, but you work for a corporation. This is how the standings system work. Your idea also hasn't got any good benefits, but has serious downsides.
The current system has the benefit of allowing different LP stores to sell different items and retain their value by corporation or group of corporations. Some corps have much better agents and much more of them and they even give misions that are more efficient to farm. If you would get faction LP, everyone would work for the agents that are the most efficient to farm. This would crash the value of those harder to work for LP stores. It would also greatly increase the number of people in those few farming systems and cause significant server issues.
The "benefit" of your proposal would be, that the few people who work for random agents get the same rewards as people who have focused on few key corporations and the guys working for the most heavily farmed agents get a short lived increase in LP to isk conversion rate at the expense of people who worked for the less popular corporations.
In my view the current system is better and makes the gameworld more interesting and varied place to be in, than what you propose. It also seems reasonable that people who have focused their missioning to a single corp, get to choose from higher tier LP rewards, than people who fly a few mission here and there for any random corp. Finally there is the point, that you also have the option to focus your missioning to a single corp and get the same benefits, but have not done so for some reason. Either start focusing your missioning or accept that you have LP all over the place. There is no issue to fix.

With how big EVE is getting, I think it may be a good idea for some of the older NPC corps to merge.

I would imagine it is based in the cyberpunk idea of corporations being states in and of themselves, waging wars and competing against each other.
Doing a favour for a Google henchman doesn't necessarily translate into Intel giving you a discount on your new CPU in the real world either.
I spent all my "random LP" on ammo and whatever modules looked interesting/useful after settling down with a corporation for missions.
That said, having some tasty stuff available from a racial store, perhaps at a premium (4:1 corp LP ratio or so) wouldn't break my immersion

You make a good point, it's annoying to have thousands of LP in unspendable quantities spread all over the Journal. It's also somewhat silly that many corps have the exact same LP store, but the currency is non-transferrable, so agent quality dictates which corps are most attractive. Remember back in the day, when your rewards would only come from that one agent, and if you went to a different station or even a different agent in the same station (I'm looking at you, Yahyerer) you'd have to start from scratch? Ugh.
I have two takes on the matter:
First idea: Go with Hirana's idea of faction LP, but instead of a special store for them, just have them be faction-wide LP, spendable at any LP store in that faction. Earn 3000 LP with Caldari Navy, spend it in the CN LP store to buy 1000 Caldari State LP, then spend those faction-level LP at an Ishukone store. Huge penalty, but it's a way to get unused LP into play and to gain access, at a cost, to mods or rewards that wouldn't otherwise be available to you.
Or how about this: Flavors of LP linked to agent type and faction, with stores in each category. Caldari Command LP, Minmatar Internal Security LP, Amarr Administrative LP, etc. Depending on what kind of agent you worked for, you're granted privileged access to that division, and since LP basically represent your agent pulling strings for you, maybe a high-ranking Security agent from Intaki Bank could make a call to a guy he knows in Security at Pend Insurance and get you that deal on skillbooks or ammo. He wouldn't have any pull with a Caldari agent, and he wouldn't be able to get you RP, but within his sphere of influence, your LP are transferable. ======================

for the caldari state, the corperations are actualy minature states (within a union of capitalisum), do favors for one gives a over all meh for the others.
They allready do have faction standing, its just alot slower to raise then corp standing, which kind of makes sense.
How would this be implementable for pirate corps, what race are they? Key - Alliance name: Damage Type it uses (Damage to use against it) Atlas: gay (aids cure) Northern Coalition: COAD spam (multiple front war) IT: ccp exploit (spy)

I read all replies. Thank you very much, they were mature.
As for the point where some would benefit from this, it could be solved by either decreasing the LP amount in general by X%, or increase the cost for items by X%.
Know that each corp IS tied to a faction, no? This is why it frustrates me to see my LP scattered all over the Galaxy...
PS: yes I am a newbie, FYI... :)

I personally believe there should be a bit more deviation between the LP stores.
Every LP store I pull open I get to see the same stuff and perhaps 1 to 10% of the store contains some kind of unique content. But in general the LP store contains implants related to the field of work the corporation is in. And that kinda makes it a predictable system.
I would love to see some more items/modules/ships that are slightly different with a neat corp brand on it. SOONÖ |

perhaps a compromise, give the option of transferring the lp form one corp to another with a percentage tax say they are exerting "influence" for you in the new corp at a cost of the loyalty level. After all, the corps do work together for some causes, otherwise they wouldn't be in the same faction.

This is the real issue. Instead of making everything the same, make them much more distinctive from one corp to another so those LP points actually matter. - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

Good points. Option to swap the LP to other places at a charge, adding great distinctiveness, all this could be fit together into a single good thing. This will make a lot of people happy, without "screwing someone over" (sorry for the French), what Destination somewhat feared, and for good reason in some cases too, I can imagine. But to that, as we all can see, are solutions as well...
Thank you all.
