Cerb is fine if you know what to do with it. Support suppression really is a legitimate role, btw.
And as even I'm tired of hearing myself say, it absolutely demolishes L2 missions.

Requires you to think for yourself a little. More like a Falcon than a Drake. You hear what the FC wants done then do what you have to to get 'er done. you can't just warp around like a school of fish you have to make sure you land on the battle field at range.
Once you are 100KM from everyone else you are pretty untouchable. Anything comming to get you you can kill before they get there. Which means you sometimes have to switch off the primary, have situational awarness and independant thinking. This is useful abilities for a lot of other more niche ships so good training to make yourself a better pilot.
Damage is good on most enemy ships. And that delay in damage? Like the Joker says, "I prefer the knife over the gun. The gun is too quick". You don't want to be tackled with a few cerbs anywhere on the field.
But yea, fly a Drake. Not really that much cheaper tho.
Really now want to try out the Eagle for comparison.
+1
This guy has seen them used as I have.
If you don't have a role for it (and I'm not about to spill the beans on those), then don't fly it.
It could be a solo-ship against lesser targets, but why use it over other options?

I've used a similar fit.. injector + 650m3 cargo bay is the key to the solo cerberus. :)

cerb is, probably, the best long range fire support/anti-support HAC ingame.
the eagle can hit farther but it does much less dps, and both the zealot and muninn fall short since they only go for half the range it can shoot. also the sentry ishtar can't shoot as farther as it can.
I see the cerb as a true long range support/anti-support due to the extreme sphere of influence it can project vs any other HAC (besides eagle) and 2-3 cerbs in any gang can scare off pretty much any sort of ship on grid.
they are, however, extremely soft targets, so you should keep at range and aligned at all times, and warp out as soon as you see someone coming in closer than 100km of you, because as soon as you get a tackler on you, you're probably going down. this is somewhat the eagle can overcome due to the fact that it can actually try to shoot down incoming tacklers, if you're at long range. ---

So you fly them like a steath bomber without the steath.
You just pretend everyone is just kinda nearsighted.

it's more like "if your FC asks for everyone to warp at 10, you warp at 100, and start aligning when you land."
bombers have stealth, cerbs have omfg range. ---

Active tank... it can work but the Cerbs cap is kind of a liability even with the injector and with the MWD too it's going to be rough.. I would go LSE with injector.. but ya something like that :P ------ I'll make a sig later. |

Please guys. It's not a Drake. Maybe with logi support it could "solo".
Lost mine only cause I warped to zero by mistake. Wish I could block that command sometimes.
Your only chance is against little guys that don't hug the gate or station if you're talking about tanking. You can handle some guns in falloff. Lazors are scarry like to any shield tanker.
There are REALLY REALLY some ships that aren't designed for solo. I'm sure you can....but why?
