Hello,
Following problems are widespread :
- Turrets ( Artillery ), Missile launchers and enemy fire sound effects stop working after a few minutes when zoomed in on ship. You can get them back when disabling and re-enabling sound in the ingame menu. Other sound effects like targetting, warping, etc, don't have issues. - When zoomed out to the point where you no longer hear sensor booster and tracking enhancer, the turrets, launchers and enemy fire sound effects keep working, altho if one goes too far away from their ship, you can no longer hear incomming lasers. Thus sensor boosters, tracking enhancers and other modules overwrite turret, launcher and enemy fire sound effects. - When Artillery actually works, or when using Autocannons, after there will be a desync between actually firing guns and the sound effects. Alot of the sound effects get skipped. - When mission specific music is playing ( like when jumping into a mission thru a gate ), all module effects disapear. You can get them back when you start playing the jukebox music again. Targetting and other sound effects keep working. - Occasional crackling/popping noises. - The Jukebox does not work, after playing x amount of songs, it just stops playing.
Following will not help :
- Updating Bios, Windows, Drivers, etc. - Removing EVE Online including cache and settings. - Completely reinstalling OS - And thus also completely reinstalling EVE - Using Windows XP, Vista or Win 7 - Disabling advanced, non-essential, features for X-FI ( on the creative software or on XP and Win7 ). - Changing ingame settings - Running Windowed and fullscreen mode - Using 1 or 2 clients - Zooming further away from ship : sortoff a workaround - Disabling and re-enabling sound : fix for a few minutes
These issues are not client related, but bugs since Apocrypha released.
It is time these issues get fixed and an option to disable positional sound is implemented.

Support for fixing the sound issues. Some of us actually do have the sound turned on when we play.
PS. What the f¡u¡c¡k? Who makes a new interface for something (the jukebox) that broken but doesn't fix it. Why don't repaint my car that doesn't run?

I like playing with sound on, but never when I'm in combat. The sounds don't necessarily work in the first place, and not only does having sound turned on lags the game, it makes the game more likely to crash too (it's a matter of "how soon" rather than "will it"). Supported as it's pretty annoying.
I like the sounds (Jukebox off) and it feels pretty random how they come and go :(

There's sound in this game?
Besides, I kinda like the cut of your jib, sailor...

Eve has sound??
STO, albeit dumbed down severely, runs multiple clients flawlessly with the sound on.
I wonder where CCP screwed the pooch on that score.

"Can haz sound?" dev-blogs please.
It. Needs. To. Be. Fixed.
New players are choosing not to subscribe because the sound doesn't work properly, it gives a horrible first impression.

It's 2010, not 1910! Movies have had sounds for almost 100 years, but it seems (some) games still don't have understand why sound is important.

I turn the sound off now cause it sounds too choppy, and the station / gate sounds are too loud.
I would like to hear eve again

Absolutely unacceptable sound for a game that looks this nice, and has this many subscribers. Crackly sound with Invulnerability Fields, Missile Launchers missing sounds/playing them at the wrong time...it just needs to be fixed.
I can't really get my wife into the game if I explain the sound problems as "well, that's uh...that's just how it is."

Supported. But if CCP hasn't fixed it by now, I doubt they ever will. My guess is that whoever programmed their sound engine doesn't work there anymore, and they have absolutely no idea how it works. Hence, they cant fix it.

And whoever designed it didn't seem to have any idea how it worked either.

Supported. Please step it up and get this game's sound above low-budget independent game development standards at the very least.
edit: and just to remind you, there is still no divider between posts and sigs.
