Ok, internet sucks here in iraq, one of the beauties of playing eve is that you dont have to have awsome cable/t3 acess 24/7.
A nice imersiev RPG would be nice.
Ive heard great things about Dragon Age origins, and NWN2.
Any thoughts or experiances would be greatly appreciated.

It has to be dragon age origins for me, it just sucks you in and does not let you out, addiction wise it is the best game I have ever played. Definately the best game out of the list above. (mass effect 2 an option for you? If so then that is worth a play for sure)

It's a little old by now, but I can definitely recommend this one. ----- 'In Eve, as in real life, if you are bored it's your own fault.' |

Any thread in which I get the chance to say that Morrowind is the greatest RPG ever, is OK by me.

It was good, in spite of a few flaws. Oblivion, unfortunately, was not, in spite of all its improvements. ----- 'In Eve, as in real life, if you are bored it's your own fault.' |

Dragonage is good, the class balance is absurdly in favor of the spellcasters though
NWN2 doesn't have the polish of dragonage but being older it has more gameplay w/expansions and all that wonderful D&D stuff
If you haven't played kotor, do that most definitely. Kotor 2, notsomuch. _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |

Role Playing Games you should play if you love immersion: Planescape: Torment (should be a priority) Neverwinter Nights 2 Fallout 1 & 2 Baldur's Gate series Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 (2 is better in my opinion) Vampire The Masquarde: Bloodlines
Turn Based Strategies: King's Bounty Alpha Centauri Disciples II
Games I do NOT reccomend: Dragon Age: Origins Mass Effect 2
Reason - Streamlined and immature.

Spot on - especially Bloodlines - get it fully patched. Play as the mad bloodline in the first playthrough - most immersive experience ever even though some of the time you aren't totally sure what either you or the other person are talking about.
I would add stalker to the list because that game is (when patched) one of the most immersive and different game experiences. More of an FPS but has significant RPG elements.
Also I would add Onmicron - slightly flawed but excellent game.

Edited by: Ella C''Tronix on 13/02/2010 02:53:53 Dragon Age, if nothing else, will keep you busy for quite awhile. The others there might be ok but aren't that immersive. Bioware games are good for their story interaction and fun character interaction/morality/choice making, and Bethesda games are best for total freedom, exploration, character immersion in the sense that you can adapt everything about the way you play to suit your character style as opposed to molding your character in the fashion the game needs you to to play. There's a great dark sense of humor in most of the bioware games and Fallout 3 is full of funny, especially if you like being mischievous. Fallout 3, and the elder scrolls games, will give you the biggest game world to play with and almost feel mmo-like at times without playing with others in terms of scale.
Here's a short list of games by both companies that are all great:
Fallout 3 Mass Effect 1 & 2 Elder scrolls: Morrowind & Oblivion (both have their own merits and are fantastic). Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 Jade Empire

The 2 I bolded were great. Also TES III: Morrowind(GOTY edition) and TES IV: Oblivion were also quite good. Fallout 3 was also quite fun tbh Yeah I am a pirate. Good 'ol Games.com
Some amazing games that you might(or might not) remember, all for 10 bucks or less. No DRM Can download it as many times as you like once you pay for it. Fully patchable unlike D2D or other sites.
I've gotten a few games from them (Freelancer, stronghold, warlords battlecry) worked perfectly and brought back some fond memories of games I used to play. Besides, I'm never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down |

Dragon Age for sure. You might check out Divinity II, it's not that polished but gameplay isn't bad at all. Don't get Mass Effect 2 if you're looking for an RPG because it isn't one. It's great, fantastic and amazing but not an rpg.

Streamlined and immature? I'd suppose they aren't your traditional RPG, but Mass Effect 2 is by no means streamlined or immature, the story is immersive, the graphics are for the most part amazing, (although there are some slight oddities, they are few and far between) and though the combat is almost entirely third-person shooter, its well done. Dragon Age, I enjoyed, but they did not polish it as well as they should have, and I find a few of the characters bothersome, along with the fact that playing as anything other than a mage is next to impossible. But, you are entitled to your opinion, and if you didn't like them, well, no game can appeal to everyone... _________________________________________________________________
