Edited by: The Huckster on 06/02/2010 17:20:43 Allow me to introduce you EVE Backup Tool v.1.0
1. Regular automatic backup of your EVE settings as an archive in the folder of your choice. I grew sick and tired of having to restore the settings each time the client application gets pwned.
2. Ingame channel logs rotation. Utility places logs into folders named after the channels. It is handy for corporate spies that keep the client running to collect chat logs. You can choose the rotation period û beginning from yesterday, last week or last month. The archives will be created with the specified period if the utility is loaded on system startup (an option to enable that is included).
3. Removing useless game logs, over 9k of them.
You can back everything up instantly by running the utility and clicking "Backup now" button.
I am irritated by thousands of log files stored in EVE folders, they are too hard to sort out, and normally I delete them on sight. Every once in a while you DO need a log though, and it's never there.
Utility is using .NET Framework 2.0. Most modern Windows systems have that installed, but if you don't, it is available from Microsoft web site: (Download .NET Framework 2.0 SP2)

Gamelogs aren't unusable trash but contain your combat data. Might not be useful to you but is useful to many.

Backing up your settings long-term is useless. CCP in their brilliance implemented them as cache files, so when format changes, your settings are killed. Happened to me countless times. Every dialogue on this matter with suppport ended in "but you can restore them by hands". Placement and settings of about 30 windows and six overview tabs. By hands. CCP, if you read this, I hope you laugh. Else you should be ashamed up to burning faces. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Lol, it is true.
But unfortunately a lot of people lose their settings much more ofter than CCP changes the format. This tool is a "weak" try to help. And tons of logs. . EVE Backup Tool - save your settings and logs

Just unrar the settings archive to your EVE settings folder, for example:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\path_to_tranquility\settings
where %USERNAME% is your login name on local machine. . EVE Backup Tool - save your settings and logs
