Hi there, iv been playing since 2005 and I think its time for a change. At the moment I am in a large 0.0 alliance being moved pillar to post for the "good" of the alliance. I, however have been doing this for the vast majority of my eve life so I have taken the option to move on to pastures new.
I have decided to give science and industry a try as I like the idea of being independent and producing things from scratch. I guess my long term aim is to be able to produce the ships I have been flying for the last 5 years (Hacs, recons, BS's, you know the type).
So where do I start? I might sound like I am being lazy and not researched but I can assure you I have and I feel that the fact I have has made me so indecisive. There seems to be lots of markets available to me. So what one do you think is best for a complete rookie and where do I go from here? Isk isnt a real problem but I would prefer to go into this as I would if I had just started the game.
Many thanks

I think the first thing I would train is Production Efficiency V, Laboratory Operation to 4 or 5, and Metallurgy to 4. Production Efficiency reduces waste; at 5 you have no waste from skills. There's still a base (usually) 10% waste on the blueprint, which is what the other two skills are for. To reduce blueprint waste, you research them for material efficiency; Metallurgy reduces the time this requires and Laboratory Operation controls the number of simultaneous lab jobs you can have running at once.
You're going to have to learn to do a lot of market research, because what's profitable in Jita isn't necessarily what's profitable in Rens, much less what's profitable in lesser trade hubs and remote regions.
Ammo is always a good place to start; it doesn't require any special skills to produce, doesn't take a long time to manufacture, typically sells well especially in mission hubs, and doesn't require a huge investment of money to get into. It's not something that most people will do long term to continue making money; too many miners and mission runners produce ammo to make a tremendous profit doing it.
Tech 2 production is far more complicated, I really don't recommend you go there until you have a pretty good idea what you're doing. Invention goes hand in hand with T2 production, so that's a bunch more skills to train. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

1. Make bpc's and sell. Need pos. 2. Buy a cheap ammo tech 2 bpo start small and build up your potfolio. 3. Invent modules and some ships. Do your homework first.
Those are my suggestions. Good luck. |

Sounds good, but no one sell T2 BPO at all.

Not? How comes, that i find some on contracts? Ok, 2 Billion is a bit of money for it, but they are sold.

Being a retired null sec/ 0.0 grunt myself fed up with bullsh#t politics & also being 2005 EVE vintage myself, i moved into the industrial side of eve about 1 year ago.
I think the first thing I would train is Production Efficiency V, Laboratory Operation to 4 or 5, and Metallurgy to 4. Production Efficiency reduces waste; at 5 you have no waste from skills. As suggested by Gavin Dvries is sound advice this is your bread butter skills for basic manufactorying. At some point you will want to move into adv lab op so ya can use 10 build/research slots at any time.
You may wish to invest in PoS to do T2 invention or join some corp to research you own bpos in ME/PE this will will require further skills, just click on bpo and browse the tags to see whats needed.
If you decide to go pro industrial/invention ya develope alts for copying bpc's and for researching bpo's in me/pe at your own pos as to maximise its useage.

Sound advice from everyone and thanks. Anyone know of any good science/industry corps I could look up. I would rather be guided then try and do things on my own.

It may also be worth your time exploring the various spreadsheets spruiked on the Science and Industry forum. From memory Akita T has a decent one.
There's a rudimentary guide to Research and Manufacturing on the wiki, which might help you get started. [Aussie players: join channels ANZAC or AUSSIES] |
