Unity Station û 9UY4-H û Providence Capital Ship Hanger Deck 4A YC 111 08-02
After several long minutes the flag ship of the BehÆhude, the Nagflar class dreadnought ôMonÆtuö powers down. Karn disengages himself from the neural interface and leaves his pod, wiping pod goo from him as he strides down the bridge access corridor naked.
He lays a hand upon the ships bulk head for a moment and murmurs something under his breath, then more audibly, as if addressing the ship herself:
ôIts been more than 3 years .. and still once again we have pulled throughö
He moves purposefully, upright, strong, a faint smile playing across his lips. He is back in Unity station and having trouble believing it.
The last weeks had past in a blur, a haze of blood and glory. Of untold loss, and great gain. He had seen is brothers and sisters achieve the impossible; he had seen the true worth and utter commitment of their allies in AAA.
ôAgainst All Authorities à. ahh slavers you should have seen this coming àö, he emphasises the name to illustrate its meaning.
Fighting Goons and then seeing them utterly crumble, watching the warriors of UshraÆKhanÆs endless energy for waging war. Seeing the Providence capital fleet slaughtered in D-G ... and now à now the fall of 9UY.
Karn laughs out loud and grabs a startled midshipmen that has approached him. He pulls her to him in a fierce embrace.
ôCan you believe we are here?!ö he roars kissing her.
ôSirö, she splutters, trying to catch her breath , ôthey are waiting for you on the hanger deck. Sapphrine has asked you speak to our people, even to the people of EVEö
She hands him a worn leather jacket, and grimy pair of leather pants and a bottle of white spirits.
ôGo on, they are waiting for youö

Half a bottle of MatarÆs best later Karn exits the Nagflar via its loading ramp. The Capital ship hanger decks are enormous, small cities they seem to be, each ship a multi-storied building, home to thousands.
And this was just one deck. On other decks UshraÆKhans allies are also docked, also celebrating, but he guesses, probably not as hard. He wills a silent thanks to them, for without the likes of ûA- and SYS-K Unity Station would still be in slaver hands.
He looks about him, a thousand plus capsuleers dance, no writhe, to heavy beats, his fellow commanders stand close by, Sapphrine, swamped by lithe and buxom women, nods to Karn, telling him to go on.
Recently released slaves stand dazed, watching on, or joining in the celebrations, and here and there are strung up what is left of the slavers who had herded them until put to death by the first boarding parties.
He spies Xious crossing from the AAA hangers and raised his bottle. The grizzled fighter raised two fingers back laughing.
Then Karn steps forward, just enough to stand out from those around him, and raises both arms commanding attention.
ôBrothers, Sisters, Warriors of the UshraÆKhan, we are stand once again in Unity Station!ö
A rapturous cheer bursts from the crowd; shots are fired, drums beaten.
ôItÆs been a long two à near three years since I last stood here, since I took a last, quick look back as we evacuated as the CVA dogs came for us.
ôAt that moment we set our will to one task û to return here one day, to drive the slaver back. To retake Unity.
ôStrength and determination brought us through the long years in the wilderness.
ôAnd my brothers, here we are!ö
Again the crowd erupts, this time for minutes. Eventually Karn signals for attention again, and the hanger falls relatively silent. He notices for a moment the FTL feeds beaming his words to who knows where, ignores them, and goes on.
ôWarriors, who would have predicted this? The slaver so weak, or allies so strong? Who could have seen this concordance of events that brought us here?ö
ôXious!ö, Karn calls across the hanger, ôlet it be known brother, that UshraÆKhan is forever in debt to your kin. Without the iron determination and inspiring courage of the Against All Authority fleets we would not be here. Without the brilliance of the vision of your commanders we would not be here.
ôWe could never ask for better allies, you know where to find us, if you need us just ask, a warriors debt is not forgotten.ö
Karn raises his bottle again.
Once more the crowd cheers glasses and bottles raised on high and a chant rises out of the crowd like a living thing, like a war cry.
ôTRIPLE A à TRIPLE A à TRIPLE Aö
It goes on and on, the drums beating in rhythm to the chant, people swaying, leaping embracing.

After a time Karn finishes his bottle and smashes it against the hull of ôMonÆtuö as if to end all that needs ending, and to set into motion all that is to come. Gradually the crowd falls silent again.
ôWarriors, let this day go down in memory, for today is the day that marks the return of UshraÆKhan to Unity, and the day that the fire that has burned within all these years bursts forth to burn brighter than ever before.
ôFor, my brothers and sisters, that fire never went out!
ôThe fire of freedom cannot be extinguished.
ôWe go on; we go on for our people!
"For FREEDOM!ö
A mighty roar erupts from a thousand lips and seems to go on for ever. Gradually it coalesces into another war cry, another chant. Even Butterdog looks up from his maniacal typing at a holo-deck in the corner and adds his voice in unison.
All raise their right fists into the air in time with the shout:
"USHRA'KHAN à USHRA'KHAN à USHRA'KHAN"

Xious rises from a drunk stupor, several Gallente women around him. He glances down at his clothes heaped in front of him. He rises slowly, the alcohol still coursing through his veins and slips his clothes back on. The faint shadow of his old Matari friend covers the enterence to the room.
"You enjoyed your present then my brother?" Karn asked, howling with laughter.
"Did I ever tell you that I love you?" Xious replied, his eyes remaining firmly on the slumbering women.
"Many times brother, now, let us go eat and drink some more, the party has only begun!" Karn shouted, tossing his messy hair back.
For Unity, for our brothers in arms, the slavers have been beaten! Rejoice my Matari warriors!

She looks towards the camera drone, opens her mouth as if to say something then closes it again. She wipes her eyes with the palm of her hand and tries again.

Corona Daring feels the ionic field of the powerful Dreadnaught's siege systems pulse though the 'body' that is her massive ship. The immense capital launchers belch out one final volley before the following command is heard over the joint fleet comms: "All Ships, CEASE-FIRE.... Unity Station has been reclaimed!"
A moment of utter silence passes, then as if a one a massive victory roar thunders from both the throats of her crew and her fellow pilots over the comm net. Nearly three years had passed since she'd been forced to evacuate Unity Station in the shot-up near wreck of a Carical-class cruiser. Inside of her capsule, her eyes closed uselessly in memory of the oath she'd sworn that fateful day.
Now she was back, and if the years between had been hard and brutal, she'd grown much more capable since. Her lips quirked in amusement at that thought as she powered down the Oasis's siege systems, the blocky grey mountain of metal trembling as she regained steering.
Oh yes, she had grown since then, and so had her Ushra'Khan brothers and sisters, whom the cluster had figured for dead. "Setting course for the docking bay," she announced to her crew, "We've come Home!"
As the lumbering ship eased its way into dock, she openes up the fleetwide channel: "To Our -A- Comrades: Your assistance is greatly appriciated."
A howling Brutor warcry sounds out over the com-net before every captain, every crewmember of the Ushra'Khan begins to chant: "TRIPLE A!... TRIPLE A!.... TRIPLE A!" out into the endless night.

"Put us in close orbit of Unity Station"
Lord Makk gave the order with a stern voice.
The battle for 9UY is approaching the end, and Ushra'Khan + Allied forces are now holding the field entirely while repairing the damaged Matari station Unity.
"Engineering, lock on Unity and engage remote shield transfer arrays.... Tactical, launch 5 Einherjii class fighter drones, upon launch I want you to assign them to Harri Bar"
Shield transfer arrays were now humming with an intense sound that could be heard troughout the whole hull of the fighter carrier, while the fighters launched and set off to aid Harri.
"Today we stand infront of the the great station Unity, infront of the Outpost that hold the great halls built by Ushra'Khan, tainted by CVA, now retaken by its rightful owners."
"Once upon a time, I was part of these monsters, brainwashed and mindlessly going on about attempting to enslave these fair people... That will be allowed no more... As long as I can stand on a command deck of a capital ship, I will continue to fight for U'K"
Taking a brief pause, sipping to the high quality wine that the U'K Leadership have handed out, Makk continues his speech to the crew of his own personal flagship.
"I swear on this day, standing infront of Unity, it will not fall on my watch, and if it does, it did not go without a fight from me, my crew nor my Alliance"
"For Ushra'Khan, Matari Victor and Freedom for ALL whom are held captive in slavery!"

After snorting a line of dysprosium, and pouring his 11th gin and tonic, Butter Dog was feeling quite content. Taking a break from browsing GalNet and implanting anti-slaver propaganda into the news feeds, he chuckled at the sounds of raucous celebrations being played down the comms network - those inside the newly reclaimed Unity Station were having quite the party.
"Of course, being Gallente, I'm rather more civilised than the brew-swilling riff raff in the station" he broadcasted to his long-standing companion O Thief, himself aboard a carrier-class vessel nearby.
"But, just this once, I'll forgive them - they may be brutish, but they're the best friends we have... no, wait, they're the ONLY friends we have" he slurred, gulping back the gin and tonic, then immediately pouring another.
He recalibrated his shield transfer modules onto a new section of station.
"Of course, I've always despised slavery" he mumbled, snorting another line of Dyps, becoming aware he was running out... "O Thief, old chap, I need another gram of dysp, can you bring me some in your carrier please... this is a special occasion after all"
This was going to be a long night...

Wobbles pod goo is also ... less 'aged' ... than other drips on the station floor, but wobbles is still free to wander and explore new station. Wobbles is careful not to step on bodies heaped on floor, most seem to be happy there. Booze, pod goo, and things wobbles not know all brew together to make new smells. Wobbles not know such things as wobbles is not an old pod, but ... aroma ... makes wobbles content. Make wobbles feel like ... home something.
Wobbles not know old stories about station in system of 9UY, but wobbles is happy to help because wobbles feels welcomed.
Wobbles remembers little, as wobbles pod was in discount bin, but wobbles remembers before times when wobbles began to explore the Great Sparklelies. Wobbles first wander when wobbles pod was much smaller ended when wobbles tried to flee in a ship too big and wobbles not remember much other than a -A- vagabond sitting at the gate wobbles thought was clear. Now wobbles finds wobbles holding a gate in a same type ship to help out people that made messes of wobbles some long times ago.
Wobbles wonders why ... oooh, blinky lights ... but wobbles not understand such things. Ships are to hold windows, and windows are to look at the Great Sparklelies and also to help breathing. Wobbles reminds wobbles that breathing is good too. Wobbles looks at blinky lights, buckles says buckles is sorry to not help much and promises to help with making toys for wobbles. Wobbles is happy to make things for friends too, because wobbles has friends and wobbles has home.
Wobbles wanders the station, and says thank you to other people who have helped wobbles make ships to wander the Great Sparklelies. Wobbles is happy to help, because wobbles is free to help, and wobbles has home.
Wobbles sees abandoned stuffs of people from before wobbles friends move in, wobbles sees sadness, because peoples have to help when help is rejected and so they lose baubles and friends and home. But for now, wobbles heads back to the Great Sparklelies, to help protect a home for all friends. |

ôI am not sure how much more of this racket I can takeö murmurs Mary to herself. Not that the celebration isnÆt deserved, just that the claxons of a hull breach is easier on the ear than the tribal/industrial drums and feedback that seem to get her fellow victors blood pulsing. Also much needed after the anti-climax of the siege of 9UY. Where were the gloating slavers? Did the battle in D-G really gut their capital reserves as well as their morale?
Glancing over to the Pheonix class dreadnaught ôPouakaiö, Mary thinks, ôThe rushed training for integrating with that massive ship, never able to be utilized at fall of Unity. Well, the skills have been rounded out and honed by experience in numerous capital ship operations and finally come full circleö.
Shaking her head against the old, deep pain of loss that drugs, alcohol or sex, well, none of it could match the salve that was hearing the Against All Authority capital fleet commander say, "Don't thank us, you have proven your value time and again. Welcome back to Unity station, you deserve it". She heads back to the pod holding station. With flashes of the revelers flickering through her mind like the strobe light that showed fragmentary snapshots of her Boss, friend and brother in arms, Karn Mithralia with girls and booze. He will appreciate the small package I left for him. One of the best cigars from Pator, in his hangover tomorrow, it will offer some relief and hopefully a little pleasure.
Before transferring to her pod, and the confusion of slipping her mind from this corporal flesh, Mary checks the outside terminal for mail. A blinking notification, ôThe first bill for maintenance of the 9UY system, how bittersweet, how promptö.
Unity Station is ours once more. It will be a magnet for those that would spit in the face of freedom. Our fight finds yet another beginning, the benefit and the burden of immortality is that a war for ideals is eternal.

Karn Mithralia, my friend and old ally, I am proud of the deeds you have done today. It seems an age ago that the CVA took your station by stealth and cunning and unmanly tricks avoiding honest battle and skulking to possession like veritable thieves in the night.
So fitting perhaps that they skulked away in the manner they arrived, cowards, gutless, men without backbones, wastes-of-skin and debauched nithling scoundrels fully-deficient in any warrior virtue which might have caused them to stand and fight.
I salute the accomplishments and give my respect to -A- for their strength. Though we are not friends in space you have driven our mutual enemies to inglorious retreat and achieved the return of our allies in the Ushra'khan to their rightful home in the stars.
A great day.
Let it be the first of many.

What a strange cluster we live in where I can rejoice in the success from the alliance of Maggot and Bad Harlequin and Tar and Wanoah and the other aged members (and the younger pilots who have joined the cause).
As someone who has tasted your artillery first hand, and now assaults your enemies as a member of an allied Fraction I have to say that I am not really surprised. UshraÆkhan is a dangerous amalgamation of Matari and Matari allied pilots. It is only a matter of time before you free all of Providence.
That the concord system which was in ôerrorö when the station was lost is no longer an issue, well it just shows how much more successful this assault was than the tactics deployed in 9UYÆs first change.
UshraÆkhan, Against All Athority and those others who were involvedàgood show. I salute your acumen and tenacity.

Poreuomai has asked me to relay a short private message as he is rather ... busy ... right now.
Originally by: Poreuomai The first time I had heard of Ushra'Khan was during the 1st multi-cast which was conducted under Ugleb in Republic space.
Months later an interesting character called Zoolkhan invited me to join his small independent pro-matari stealth corp, Mirkur, and I've never looked back.
Mirkur went from being a tiny hi-sec corp to an NPC 0.0 corp which had blue standings with U'K. We soon joined the men & women of the bloody fist. My first duties were reporting hostiles in CL-85V. I heard of raids into Providence, attacks against slavers, grand tales.
Then .-A-. offered for us to use F4R as a base for our operations against the slavers. Thus began a long and fruitful friendship which eventually resulted in our having our own space in Catch.
And now ... now the unbelievable has happened and we dine in 9UY.

Unity Station û 9UY4-H û Providence Ship Hanger Deck 13G YC 111 08-02
As the Eagle cruiser class spaceship docks, these thoughts course through the pilots mind: "We came. The station is ours. Unity is victorious today. We have a long way ahead of us, but the struggle is not over, more slavers and Amarrian degenerates are out there..."
Tagami slips out of the pod, clears the goo from his face and turns around to the technicians. "Repair the guns and propulsion systems, replenish ammo bins, you got 30 minutes, I'm going back out." Turning around he looks at the attendant standing there holding a pair of pants and a T-shirt." Forget about that, I'm off to take a shower. Get me a beer, I want to toast our victory." Turning to the techs as he moves towards the sanitation facilities: "Remember, you got 30 mins, we're getting back out there, fight is not over."
30 mins later, beer in hand, Tagami is listening to the party going on in the Station. "Time for that all this night and all the other nights to come, for now, we fight."
Just before the last gulp, he stops. Raises the bottle and shouts: "For UNITY! UTZ!!" The crew responds immediately: "BANZAI!" "UTZ!" "BANZAI!" "UTZ!" "BANZAI!"
As the Eagle undocks, hope is burning bright in Tagami's mind. ------------ Railgun performance required fix: - +15% railgun damage modifier - +10% PG for Caldari railgun ships |

Heiar watches the slaves load the last of the missiles into his bay.
"Why can't these Amarr bastards use robots?" Heiar thinks to himself, "You don't have to feed them, you they can't get sick, and robots won't try to escape just as soon as you turn your back. Besides, I don't feel bad telling a robot to carry 200 pounds of high-explosives."
The portable computer in Heiar's pocket begins to buzz. He takes it out and reads the Galnet Breaking-News Report.
"By Tovil Toba. They've done it! Ushra'khan has re-taken Unity station from the slavers!" he yells.
Several of the slaves stop and place their loads on the ground. One of them approaches the capsuler
"Pardon me, sir, but what was that you said about the slavers?" he asked.
Heiar grins broadly and gives the Brutor a massive hug.
"The slavers have lost UNITY Station! The Minmatar have retaken their station! Who knows, it could be Amarr Prime next!"
Several Amarrian security personel approach with angry faces and shock-sticks at the ready.
"Well sh**...." Heiar says aloud,"Yelling that was not the best idea."

Ushra'Khan Staging Post - 9UY4-H - Providence Naglfar-Class Dreadnought 'Red October'
"Someone pinch me..." Dan Grommel mumbled as he was watching the holo-record of the final assault on Unity Station from just a few hours ago. For him and many others that joined the ranks of the Ushra'Khan long after the station was lost to slaver forces, it had so long been just a shadow, a whisper, a dream. Maybe a silent notion in the voice of senior fleet commanders, noticeable when they were commanding one of the countless U'k harrassment fleets passing through the system that was once the very heart of all efforts for a free providence.
Now they were back. Unity Station free again. Free at last. And still he couldn't believe it. Too well Dan remembered the harsh times his alliance went through after the first fall of Unity. The exile in Ammatar low-sec, the daring but yet failed assaults on kbp, the resignation of so many of his brothers over a seemingly hopeless struggle, while remaining proud warriors of the U'k were rotting around in angel cartel stations in curse. All of it. So close. So far.
Now they were back. Stronger then ever. More friends then ever. Friends. Too well Dan remembered his scepticism when he first set foot on an AAA station. He feared working with such a powerful entity could make him and his kind nothing less then what those were they were trying to free - heteronomous, other directed, slaves. He couldn't have been more wrong. Tonight and over the past weeks the Members of AAA did not only earn Dan's respect - after months of fighting along side them, they had it anyway - but also his friendship and a bond of unlimited trust only possible between such true and honorable warriors.
Dan turned the Holoreel off. Having watched the impressive combined U'k and AAA Capital fleet wiping out the last cva defences for the sixth time now, he lighted up the victory cigar and started to smile. He quickly opened a comlink to the rest of his corpmembers and fellow warriors nearby: "Tonight we made history. I salute you! I thank you! You made me proud." He closed the link and stood up to make his way to the shuttle bays to join the celebrations aboard the station. He couldn't stop smiling.

I awoke from the dark and wet feeling of my cell to the pounding of steel and plasma, Sirens wailing and a loud voice shouting through the PA system "We are under attack!, all Amarrian citizens please make your escape now!. Gather your slaves if you feel you have the time, but please evacuate now!"
"Finally these bastards get what they deserve" i screamed
"Aaronion my brother!, they sure were rough on you after you hit that Amarrian Guard! you only just now woke up? That message you hear has been replayed hundreds of times, All the Ammarian cowards have left by now. Rejoice for now my brother WE ARE FREE!"
The sirens wailed on for more hours and my skin started to itch and tingle with excitement, Regardless of who walked into this jail, i was determined that they would set me free.
Free of the constant drugging and forced manual labour.
Free of the hate teeming from my "masters" whip.
Free to be back with my people, with Ushra'Khan and my freedom fighter brothers.

> Personal Log - 2010.02.09 - somewhere near U-HYMT <
A loud beeping noise drills into my head like a hedbergite laser. I slowly pick myself up from the deck of the Ishtar. A dark, swirling, noisy world envelopes me as I try to make sense of time and date. Sharp pain brutally stabs at the back of my skull.
It's been over 3 months since I've seen space dock. Crushing amounts of illegal Spirits, the intake of which is occasionally interrupted by violent combat, have rendered my faculties into a highly non-cooperative state.
Dizziness surges as I slump into the command chair, why won't the beeping stop? In a rage I slam my fist onto the console, and a screen jumps to life. "You have 1,714 new messages, start playback?". I suddenly lurch to one side of the chair and retch whatever vile composition is still inside me directly upon the deck.
A barely functional maintenance bot rolls out and slurps up the mess. A blinking message catches my eye... "UNITY Station now under allied control". Another stabbing pain bifurcates my skull.
"Whats'a matter there perky, somebody scare away the reds?" came a voice from behind. It was my clone surrogate pleasure mistress, Angelina.
"Damn fools, don't they realize what they've done??!" I exclaimed. "We had it all here... endless targets, ridiculous loot... now what? This was the best hunting ground we ever had."
"I wouldn't lose to much sleep over it... ya never know what's next." A dark shadow crosses her face, and suddenly she takes on a serious tone. "Didn't it all seem a little... easy?"
I ponder her words and crack open a new bottle...

~Sad, but hopeful Music~
"No dictator, no invader, can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against that power, Governments, and Tyrants, and Armies can not stand! CVA learned this lesson once, we will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years! ... we will be free."
Welcome home Ushra'Khan. I find this whole situation to be oddly strange. As it was a former Corporation of mine that first held Soverienty in 9UY and KBP as a means of annoying CVA as much as possible. I remember fueling those towers all those years ago as our forward bases out of Assah and Kheram. A means of retreat when the out numbering CVA forces would give chase. It was our home away from Stain. When we packed up and left Provi on our last field trip there and returned home to Stain Alliance space... it wasn't long until Unity Station was built upon that ground. While I fight for -A- now... this has been something of a personal quest for me... CVA finally getting what is long over due to them. I stand with you, -A- stands with you. Welcome home, but our work is not finished.

After a time, Alistair leans forward one last time, and engages the Comm Link:
"Congratulations Karn. If nothing else, the dedication and perserverance of you and your fellows is something to be admired, and respected. From the brink of destruction, you have managed to rise up onced more, and wound us yet again."
Alistair pauses....considering his words carefully.
"My grudging respects to you Ushra'Khan. God is truly testing his faithful these days, and only time will tell if we are up to His challenge. I only pray that we are.

Alistair quickly and quietly disengages the communications link, and sits back, pondering the darkness beyond his office window for a long time after.

First man on the spot.
Ares steps out of his Moros flanked by freedom fighter marines, he looks around taking in the sights of the station. Smoke files the hanger bay and the sound of gunfire ring out in the distance. Ares starts walking towards the hanger exit when he spots a thin dirty looking minmatar woman hugging what looks like a small child, but she and the child are covered in blood and the child is not moving. Ares stops and asks a wounded freedom fighter sitting close bye, what has happened to that woman. The freedom fighter looks up with a look of pain on his face, sir some of the slavers decided that if they killed slave children then they could not grow up to fight them after the station fell. Ares frowned and moved on, murder in his eyes.
When he linked up with the leader of the assault force a big brutor man, sir the situation is under control only small pockets of resistance left on the station. Ares looks the man in the eyes and asks, are all the slavers dead? The assault leader looked back and answers, most of them sir and we have the rest hold up in the former slave pens, what do you want us to do with them? Ares takes a long breath and answers, space them, space them allà And the families of the slavers the assault leader calmly asks. Space them, space them all Ares says and walks on to other business.

Edited by: Wotlankor on 09/02/2010 09:02:20 The Megathron slowly makes its way through what used to be am imperial hangar with the order that follow. To my right a Tempest class battleship has crashed into the docking structures and miniature figures can be seen on the deck. I cannot say if they are dancing or arguing over the wrecked Tempest.
I take care to don my finest regalia for this occasion. The sword that was handed to me by Zoolkhan is polished and my UshraÆKhan markings shine and radiates the dull red of the Morphite used as a stone.
I stand and gather myself, ready for the crowd and the orderly ranks of soldiers that will all hail the Matar victory. The port loading bay opens and I step out into the hangar. Emptyà?
Faint drums and screams can be heard far off. A single bottle makes a weird tone of its own as it rumbles down a ramp. At the top of the ramp can be seen a Matari hand that is shaped very much as if the bottle could be sucked into its grip were it not for the soft snoring sound.
Making my way further into the station I can sourly conclude that there will be no ceremony for the time being. A party is being held and here and there is the dead drunk body of pod pilots, commoners and whatnot is one big happy heap.
Noises grow louder as I get nearer what is labeled ôDeck 23ö. A fabled bar where stories of war were shared and I assume quite a bit of alcohol has been consumed. A brutor and a gallentean girl makes their way past me, the brutor stops shortly and exclaims something that cannot even be called a statement or sentence. He gives me a hug that will leave my ribs in pain for a few days and staggers on down the corridor.
By now I realize that I will seem very out of place with my regalia and fine clothes. There is no ceremony, no ranks of soldiers standing to attention while the leadership proclaims victory in a long speech. I should have been wiser by now. Short, to the point and then off to the bars is what is happening.
I nod to Tizian as I pass her by a table; she recognizes me but is unable to focus on me and waves her hand making a gesture I believe to say ôHi there Wotö, while trying to maintain her balance on the chair.
Jessie is standing nearby wielding the freaking two largest rifles I have ever seen. ôHey Jessie should they not be on a Rifter?ö I yell. Big white teeth shine behind the cigar as he nods smiling.
Here and there are scattered small groups of AAA pilots, they seem to enjoy the situation but are to some extend taken back a bit by the bravado displays of the UshraÆKhan pilots. Some of them though have already thrown off their reservations and participating in drinking contests, dancing and arm wrestling. Even though I have been with the UhsraÆKhan pilots for quite some time now I cannot say I share the joy they must feel for taking back what has been lost so far back. I wish I had the same long story to tell of exile, toils and return. I do not.
I am a roaming mercenary but for some odd reason it felt like coming home when I stepped out and made my way through the station. I am UshraÆKhan and in being UshraÆKhan I share the past, the present and the future of my fellow pilots and even feel the relief of wandering a station IÆve walked before.
We are the UshraÆKhan and we come for our people.

Unity Station - 9UY4-H system, Providence region Docking bay 17 Long Range battlecruiser UKS Javelin
With the distant hum of the power core fading away, captain Oroa stripped off his neural cap, emerging from the cacophony of a myriad system and status reports to another, more organic cacophony of the bridge command crew cheering all around him. Relaxing for a moment in the cushioning of his command chair, he watched them with a faint smile on his face.
How elated they are, and most, no, none of them had even seen the station before. But they understood the importance. They felt the symbolic power this victory held for all Matari people. The slavers were beaten, driven off. The old city of the free was back in the hands of those who would see an end to all slavery, and all was right, even if for just a moment.
Somewhere in 9UY4-H system, Providence region a few hours later
They were all dead now. Ontaku's eyes snapped open, and he gazed at the stars through the canopy of the cramped command module on a Rifter-class frigate, towards the white dot he imagined to be the Unity station. Luckier crews were probably still celebrating there, the whole floating city jubilant, in its revelry oblivious to the ongoing struggles and skirmishes blooming in the cold vastness of space around it.
The small command module was silent, the few of the command crew which survived the destruction of the Javelin staring intently at their displays. This was the life of a spacer on a combat ship. Live fast, die quickly. If you are lucky, you might live through your tour of duty and retire a rich man on some tropical planet somewhere, leaving the cold space forever behind. Most were not lucky. It was a high-stakes game for the insanely brave and manically desperate. All knew the score when they joined up the crew of a combat ship. But few ever suspected, as human beings often fail to do, that it would be them - not some other poor sap - paying the ultimate price.
Yet he knew that where the thousand that perished came from, billions eagerly awaited a chance to rise among the stars and wage war upon something that defined the Matari existence for so long. Pulling his neural cap back on, and replacing the starfield outside with the view of a camera drone, captain Ontaku ordered the ship's engines to kick in, and align the small vessel towards the latest warp-in point relayed by fleet command, yet another in the series of small, short and sometimes deadly skirmishes that unfolded, consumed ships and men, and faded away into nothingness like some voracious stalking beasts roaming the edges of any war.
The slavers were still out there.
The job isn't finished yet.

Pator IV (Matar) Kade Jeekin stands in the luxurious penthouse, his wives, children, friends and comrades around him. All watching the glorious dawn breaking.
He ponders the past. From when the egg first hatched through the dark days when Muritor was murdered by the Republic and UNITY was lost to the enslavers. The time in the wilderness, questioning our purpose.
But the fire did not melt away our hope, The adverstity annealed our strength. We return alongside a vast armada of death for the slavers. Death they brought upon themselves. First with the Elders and now, out of the depths of space, alongside a force even surpassing theirs.
More liberated systems in the Bleak Lands, space for the people to grow, and now, UNITY once more free of the slavers grip.
The sun rises once more. A new day for Matar.
We come for our people. --------------------------------------- Outface the depths of evil with clarity --------------------------------------- |

Edited by: Padaxes on 09/02/2010 13:21:41 I strode from the hall down familiar corridors feeling a powerful mix of exultation and melancholy. Even with Karns words along with the cheers of Minmatar warriors and freed slaves still ringing in my ears I could not quite believe I was once again walking the halls of Unity station. The thrill of victory was tempered by the atrocities this station had been host to since the Amarrians took it. I wasn't sure I would ever be able to feel the same about my old home, even now my crew were cleaning my old quarters, stripping out every sign of occupation but would it ever really feel clean again?
I heard screams echoing down the corridor, they cut short suddenly as I rounded the corner to find a crowd of freed slaves cheering over the broken body of an Amarrian worker unlucky enough to be left behind by his fleeing fellows. He had been hiding in a conduit, to no avail, after years of abuse there was little mercy to be found at the hands of the liberated.
My emaciated tribe mates dropped the corpse when they saw me and gathered round in a throng cheering their thanks, some trying to hug me or shake my hand. I had no doubt similar scenes were playing out across the station and I was once again filled with conflicting emotions. I stepped over the battered Amarrian, his engineers overalls soaked with his own blood and wondered if he had ever owned a slave? Or was he just a man doing a job?
I left the cheering rabble behind, steeling myself and casting aside these doubts, reminding myself of the horrors my Brothers were enduring all over New Eden at the hands of their Amarrian masters. Even a lowly engineer played his part supporting the infrastructure that enslaves our people. He may not have even agreed with slavery but he would have stood by and watched it and done nothing.
I spit on the floor, they deserve no mercy, no quarter and none shall be given.
I step into my old office, now completely bare, looking much as it did the first day I arrived in this station and tears begin to well up in my eyes. This is a great moment for our cause, I wipe my eyes and about turn, I think it's time to join the celebrations properly!

Many years ago, a strong few took it upon themselves to join together. With fists raised high, they struck back at their oppressors. With fists raised high, they beat back the storm. With fists raised high, they planeted the acorn in a field of hatred, a field that would reject them and try to push them into darkness, back into the storm.
Through blood and fire they fought. Through humble honor, they sought friends in the storm. Together with honor, together in strength they fought hard. Never yielding, never waning, they took back what was theirs.
They were the ones who planted the acorn so long ago, the acorn that grew into a sapling of hope, the sapling that grew into a tree a freedom. A tree that was hacked by axes of betrayal, a tree that bears the scars of oppression, a tree that now stands free in a Forest of Unity.
Oak and Ash, Birch and Yew, together they stand among the burned fields of hatred. Oak and Ash, Birch and Yew, together they now stand blinding the darkness with the light of freedom. Oak and Ash, Birch and Yew, together they are the shelter against the storms of oppression.
At long last, the saplings grow free again. At long last they stand under the branches of the Tree of Unity. At long last, we have come...for our people.

Deliverance Reclaimed - 9UY4-H - Providence Location Unknown YC 111 09-02
The wet clone goo still sticking to his body as he emerged from his pod, Tyler Tharn weakly lurched through the dim lit halls of the station that what was once called Deliverance Reclaimed. The clone bays had been the first to go - any shells unfortunate enough to be left there were being eagerly tossed out the airlock by the ex-slaves to attempt to satiate their lust for violence. As God as my witness, I will not share their fate. He thinks as he pushes through grimy corridors now tarnished from their lack of upkeep. Heading deeper, ever deeper into the bowels of the Station - away from the raving hordes, sure to rip him limb to limb if they discovered his presence.
He had left the State to seek glory and companionship among his allies, and had been blessed with much success for a time. But, as with all business ventures, there can be hostile takeovers occasionally. He looks down at the small honorary State Pistol that was given to him when he first graduated from the University, set on a path to adventure among the stars and to ponder their mystery... Naked, but armed. A proper way for a Caldari to go. And if those slaves do find him, well... He'd make sure to leave one bullet in the chamber once he was done. They weren't going to toss him screaming out an airlock. He will go out the way the State had taught him. To go down fighting for whatever cause he believed in, for the Glory of the State - and in this case - his Ammar brethren.
Tyler paused for a moment, hearing the pitter-patter of many footsteps on the metal floor above him. He would have to go deeper in... still deeper... ---- Diplomat for Exiles of Chaos |

You ought to thank CVA and Friends too, for without their excursion into Catch, and their refusal of -.A.-'s ceasefire, I doubt your allies and hosts would have embarked in the troublesome duty of a Providence campaign.
A most fortunate turns of events for the cause of freedom, no doubt about it.

Azure rummages around in a tattered old kit bag and removes a buckled slab of metal. On it, a dedication to JFS Pariah.
JFS Pariah
Our fathers wrought I self of pain. Our mothers quenched I self with blood. Our brothers launched I self upon a river of tears. Our sisters wailed to I, speak of thyself.
Father! Your pain! Shall become our rememberance! Mother! Your blood! Shall become fire in our hearts! Brother! Your tears! Shall become a deluge of vengeance! Sister! Your dirge! Shall become a hymn of hate!
For we are Tempest! We come for our people!
I recovered this from the wreckage of a ship that i lost many years ago. She died well, guns blazing, defiant to the last. For me, if there is one thing that symbolises the Minmatar and their cause it is the Tempest class battleship. This piece of tarnished and battered metal has come with me everywhere ever since. Not sure why, i just never seemed to be able to throw it away.
I think i might have a home for it now.
I know i am not of Matari blood and it would do me no insult to refuse this but, i would like very much for this dedication plate to be placed somewhere in Unity Station. It would be best there. It would be right.
For your people!

As Taanu wandered through the empty Amarr officer's quarters in Unity, a noise intruded upon his quiet contemplation. It was a moan, a female voice caught not in the midst of sex but abject terror. Crossing the bar, avoiding the scattered chairs, tables and hastily discarded bottles and glasses, Taanu approached a small waist-height stage hidden from view by heavy felt curtains. Pulling back the curtains he was greeted with a unimaginable tableaux. A female was hog-tied to a ladder-backed chrome chair. The gag that had been over her mouth was half-way off, hence the moans emanating from her mouth. One eye was swollen and there were cuts on her face out of which drooled smears of blood.
Taanu's brain filled with a raging fire - even as the brave warriors of Ushra'Khan and AAA sieged the station, CVA officers instead of asking for guidance from their gods had taken pleasure in depriving this young Minmatar slave of her belief in humanity. To a non-believer, the universal extravagance of the Amarr's religious rituals, with their cost in human suffering, suggested as vividly as a mandrill's backside that their god was nothing but a false mantra to appease their own arrogant pride.
Taking a deep breath, Taanu smiled reassuringly as he carefully loosened the bonds that had cut deep into her wrists and ankles and gently removed the gag from her trembling mouth. As he folded her into his arms she gave a great shiver as if she were exhaling for the last time. "I don't want to be alone" she barely whispered.
Her plaintive words thawed his icy heart."You're not alone young warrior". He bent over her , his lips touching her forehead."I'm here with you. We're all here with you."
"Yes I know, it's good, I feel your Minmatar arms around me." She gave a final shudder and he looked into eyes that were fixed staring into infinity. He threw his head back in anguish and gave a feral scream "Nooooooooo!" His rage was motivated not only by hatred and a need for revenge, but by a sense of shame and humiliation for not saving her and the millions like her. It was then he realised looking around the bar, hearing the celebrations throughout Unity Station that today was not the end. It was the beginning. The beginning of a new era where Providence would be freed from the shackles of slavery and oppression, where men, women and children could live in freedom, not through privilege or status but as their right as free citizens.
Tears ran down his face leaving as Taanu bent down and gently brushes his fingers over the young girls eyes. Then angrily brushing the tears from his cheeks he abruptly stood up and walked towards the bar exit door with out looking back.
Providence would burn and the lost souls of Minmatar would feed the fire for all eternity. And He'd be there to watch them.

Boot's echoed off the empty walls as the tall Matari warrior walked down the corridoor. Around him, he could hear distant cheering, laughter and singing. A fight had even broken out as crew had scrambled out of the docking areas, but that was so often the Matari way. Kazan had paid it no attention. His mind was set on his destination.
People ran past him whopping as he strode purposefully along Deck 26. A lean Seibestor clipped his shoulder as he sped past, bounced of a wall and sprawled himself across the floor. Without breaking his stride, Kazan neatly stepped over him and continued his journey.
Eventually he reached a door and stopped. Slowly he unclenched his fist and he prised a small data key from the deep imprint it had made in his palm. Touching the key to a panel on the wall, the door slid open. Kazan held his breath.
He did not think it would work after all this time. The arrogange of the slavers gave them no reason to change any minor security codes. Why would Ushra'Khan ever be docked in 9UY again?
For a split second, Kazan didn't recognise his old quarters. Then he spotted the bent panels above what was now a dining area. The memory came back and Kazan rubbed his jaw. Padaxes had quite a punch for a scrawny little runt!
Years ago, that area had been his bar. He could no longer recall what they had been celebrating that evening, but like many celebrations it ended in a brawl. Kazan recalled dancing on the bar, someone had grabbed at him, there was a brawl and he had ended up launching Padaxes into the wall, buckling the panels around the vent system. Sykosys had tried to break the fight up, but Padaxes had managed to land a right hook on Kazan's jaw and he had gone down hard. Kazan's head had clipped the edge of the bar and he remembered no more until the morning. It had been a good night!
Kazan ran his fingers over the panels. They had been beaten back into shape, but the odd reflections from the lighting gave away their past.
With a loud grunt, Kazan picked up the dining table and launched it out into the corridor. This was swiftly followed by the chairs, each one slamming into the far wall and splintering. The bed was next and it didn't take long for him to clear the entire room.
Then he sat. In the same space that he had done every night since he had first docked at UNITY station all those years ago.
Crossed legged and with his head in his hands, he sat.
And he recited. The same words that he had recited every night since long before he had ever docked in UNITY station. The same words that he was taught as a young boy by his father.
Kazan recited the names of those he had lost. The names of ancient Khan's and tribesmen from home. The names of those who had shaped his past and who continue to shape his destiny. The names of those he had lost more recently, since leaving his home planet. As a boy the list would take no more than five minutes, less if he rushed. Now though, the list was twenty seven minutes long, and he no longer found cause to rush them.
Kazan called out each name in turn, and to each one, he offered his thanks.

It is quite obvious, and pretty basic really.
The strategy employed by the slavers and their holder allies seems to be what is commonly known as "elastic (or deep) defense". Instead of providing a rigid, fortified front where all of their forces are thrown into the war with the intention of holding the enemy at bay without giving up a single star system, CVA knows they are so hopelessly outgunned the only viable option is to use the large number of populated systems Providence has to try and wear out the attacking forces.
Elastic defense relies on the blunting of the offensive momentum of the attacker, so that the defending forces can perform a counteroffensive maneuver at an opportune time and regain lost territory, perhaps even striking into enemy territory if an opportunity presents itself.
This basic defensive strategy is taught at all military schools throughout the cluster. The slavers may think themselves clever in employing it, but in my opinion they are both neglecting to consider one vital factor and a vital aspect of such a stratagem:
First, deep defense strategy relies on the tenuous logistical strength of the attacker, so that a prolonged conflict would stress them financially and materially. This obviously cannot be the case. Second, elastic defense assumes continuous and *effective* harrasment of the attacking forces. It does not assume a "no-action" policy as such removes any possible detrimental effects on the attacking forces, consequently completely removing the financial and material stress from the hostile logistics.
No, the elastic defense will not work, even if it were employed correctly. My personal advice to the slaver leaders would be instead to employ a different strategy, popularly known as "running for the hills". Load up your freighters boys, because we're coming for our people. And your stuff.

Republic University School û Nakugard û Metropolis Ship Hangar Deck 121D YC 111 08-02
The lights in the hangar bay flickered as a Typhoon class battleship started its testruns. App Olonur just entered to check how the Matari Hammer would handle the missilelauncher and propulsion tests that were scheduled that day. His recovery from surgery has been remarkable, but his ability to interface with a pod is still very limited. With help from the surgeons in the academic hospital aboard the station he would get over his time as a slave in the Khanid kingdom. At least physically.
On the side of the Hammer a red fist was painted, but the words underneath had been hastily covered up û surgery on ôneutralö grounds in Empire comes at a price, the Republic is not that keen on publicly supporting Freedom Fighters.
A group of engineers surrounded one of the PA speakers on the hangardeck and more people were stopping work to listen. Then App caught fragments of text: ô...3 years since I stood here... as the CVA hounds came for us..at that moment we set our will to only one task..ö. He runs over to hear what is going on. ô...to retake UNITY...ö ô...And my brothers, here we are!ö This cannot be true! Can it be real? The voice stops for a moment. ô...Warriors let this day go down in memory, for this day is the day that marks the return of Ushra'Khan to UNITY!ö App stops and let these last words sink in... and just when the crowd around the speaker starts cheering he raises his fist and shouts ôUSHRA'KHAN! USHRA'KHAN! USHRA'KHAN!ö along with thousand voices that stream into the hangar from the PA system.
A few hours later, after many celebratory glasses of Matar's finest, he murmurs to himself ôdamn fine time to schedule that surgery, mr. Olonur... damn fine time...ö

*The camera drone swings round, facing a figure shrouded in a dark blue light*
kra looks up from his Zyphyr class exploration ships navigation console to read the news, and a slight smile crosses his face. He raises his glass to the victory he shouldn't agree with due to his allegiance.
*The screen goes dark, just as a slight chuckle emits from his lips.*

KAMELA - 9-1 - Bleaklands Abaddon Class Battleship "Huntress" YC 111 21-02
The tapestry of stars beyond a vast debris field of the fallen foe. The battle had been furious and brutal. Our commanders and allies had done their bit to perfection. She'd had the time and pleasure to concentrate fully on her own vessels systems, the great ships targetting arrays and defenses, thrilling in the moments of battle, the bright destruction of the enemy. The cheers of the gun-crews and bridge officers. The celebrations and the drunken jests and everything that follows a victory in space.
"Everything must change. We didn't know how much these stars missed the breath of freedom until we tasted it in the glory of success. Ushra'khan you have blazed the path. You are our true friends and companions of the heart. May victory find you an easy companion in the months ahead."

Originally by: Karn Mithralia ôXious!ö, Karn calls across the hanger, ôlet it be known brother, that UshraÆKhan is forever in debt to your kin.

Congratulations.
Just remember space has no borders. Don't now slip into becoming that which you hate so dearly.
It's good to see the Star Fraction indicating they will take action against the Ushra'Khan if they adopt the same behaviors others have. This warning seems very clear and is very refreshing in my opinion.
