The only time I've ever really thought about how many SPs my characters have is when applying to a corp with a min SP requirement or when checking clones.
In fact its a good job this thread came up as its reminded me that I will need an upgraded clone in a week or so

If you were just given skills, this process wouldn't happen. ... You'd buy a Vagabond, put a 800mm plate on, put a civil shield booster on, use missiles and fit neither ab nor mwd cause you've got no clue what you're doing... You'd go around, pointing finger at ppl "haaaaaaaaaa, fear me, i'm your biggest..." klaboom, vaga gone. "WTF!!! I had a t2 cruiser, you had an ibis.. how?!"
I think we all know this still happens with the current system.

I think you are playing the issue down too much.
Truth is, ceteris paribus, if player A has more sp invested in a field than player B, then A will have an advantage in that field.
It is true that a low-sp character can kill a high-sp character, but that only demonstrates that SP isn't everything. SP is still the determining factor in many tactical decisions and fights.

To the suggestions forum!
Consuming cardboard is a bad idea. Especially if it's printed, as it tastes really bad.
Good source of fiber though..................... This is my sig, stop reading. |
