KOS was a good alliance, not great but was a good making friends and having fun. It was a sad day when it all started to fall apart. Around the end of 2007, KOS is fighting on a couple of fronts up by DV6. GoonSwarm promise to support KOS if we are ever invaded. Around Christmas 2007 we get invaded mostly due to us not being able to defend our selves in all time zones and it being Christmas summer holidays for the Aussies and Kiwis. GoonSwarm does not support us when we are invaded, in fact it is later revealed that GoonSwarm setup KOS to be invaded by another alliance with the understanding that they would not get involved. KOS leadership appears to be taken completely by surprise when GoonSwarm fail to support us. KOS is scared and mad all at the same time. Leadership (for the most part) goes a bit crazy and starts casting the blame far and wide ôit is all the care bears, it was the noobs, it wasà.. blah blah blahö There is so much mud being slung on Team Speak and infighting that morale plummets like a lead balloon. Lots of KOS Leadership are AFK due to holidays, Christmas and fear. Some that arenÆt AFK donÆt help matters with all the shouting and swearing and treats to kick all the ôdeadwood corps that have lead us to this crisisö. There are long talks on Team Speak but it appears that most corps think all is lost and start to quietly move all there belonging back to empire. The implosion beings. It must be said that some of the KOS leadership and a number of corps try to galvanise the remaining members to fight for their homeland. It is a doomed effort, even before the first corp leaves KOS. There are heroic acts of bravery on the part of many, many KOS members. With a real lack of unified leadership, KOS member take it upon themselves to take the fight to the enemy. Never have I seen such bravery and determination from players when the leadership had pretty much given up and left the alliance to fend for itself. The end result is inevitable. KOS implodes and may great corps and players are scattered into the wind. Many swear their undying hatred for GoonSwarm and join whatever corp or alliance that will fight Goons.
PS this is an incomplete and one sided report. I was but a lowly corp member, but I was in the Team Speak channels and fought to the very end with my fellow KOS mates. I mean no disrespect to the memory of KOS or it hard working member. I am just calling it as I saw it, imperfect as that is.
