Hi there,
I'd like to be able to put up advertisements for my contracts on those big screens next to the jumpgates.
Maybe an icon could show what the contract is about, implants, ships, minerals, and another icon for "services" where a long-haired Amarr chick bends over some dude's lap, along with a little message from the issuer.
Can we haz that?

This is quite possibly the single most constructive idea I've ever seen posted anywhere...ever. There could be an interface that you'd open by right clicking the billboard in question. It'd toss you into an advert builder and then, once your ad was finished, it'd give you a cost estimate.
Make it work like office rentals wherein more well used billboards would charge more ISK for the advert and it'd only run for a certain period of time, etc.

It would be good for corp recruitment, maybe the advert could link to a recruitment thread or something.

we could also have stores, and then make advertisment like this in space, just look at the "store idea", maybe this feature can be part of this proposal?
By the way, i like the idea of advretising with babes or sexy guys in thoose screens. Can humanize a little bit eve, in a nice way :)

But yeah, contracts and adds (other than quafe) on the boards would make them more useful then people with high bounties..

Not wishing to burst your bubble but it has been proposed before several times. Although I just don't know why CCP has never taken up on it, it would be a good isk sink.
I'd actually like to see some constraints put on it like physical dimensions, file size and type etc, so the advertiser can put up their own designed animated adverts. I'm sure they can assign ISD to oversee the content to ensure there's no pron in it or whatever and it's an actual advert and Eve related. Once it's given the all clear, ISD has an interface addon that allows them to flag it as clean so it can then be shown. Once flagged, it can be re-run for as many weeks as the user wants, only a change to the file would remove the flag and alert ISD to check it again.
We have so many talents of various types playing that it would be nice to allow them to use their RL talent in the game as well. Video editors and animators can show their talent with these vids and it would make looking at the boards actually worthwhile. At present, they are just background noise to make it seem like there's an actual life beyond that of the players.

That's a good idea I've dreamed of for a long time now! It would give definetely even more reality to the game.
My contribution to this idea would be about the cost of the advertising space and the renting system.
[About the cost]
A bid system (rather than a fixed pricing grid or a flat price for all boards) would be great. Indeed, a board in Jita for traders or one in rookie systems for recruiters or one in 0.0 for ammo suppliers are obviously more worth it than one in the middle of nowhere. So, let's advertisers bid-fight for buying displaying space! And, like any other market item, advertising space could be resold allowing, maybe, advertising corps to rise in the game.
[About the renting system]
Either by right clicking on the display itself at the gate (right click -> rent advertising space)
Either via the market (or a market-like) window.
